Titles in TNA

Troy

TNA World Heavyweight Championship
TNA Television Championship
TNA World Tag Team Championship
TNA X-Division Championship
TNA Women's Knockout Championship
TNA Knockout Tag Team Championship

That is a list of all the titles that are currently active in TNA. Each week TNA has a two hour show in Impact and they have six titles to feature, promote and build each week.

Does anyone else think that the ratio of titles to air time is too high at the moment and that TNA have too many titles?

Personally I don't see the point of the KO's Tag Team Championship anymore. It has been booked poorly since it was introduced in TNA. Initially it was a great idea since TNA had a lot of talented female wrestlers and at the time there was talk of the Knockout's getting their own one hour show on SpikeTV but that never happened. The title has been around for about eighteen months and there have been five champions. Of those five champions two of those teams were stripped of the titles because they hadn't defended the title for thirty days. I didn't even realise that rule existed in TNA. My point is if you have only had five title reigns and twice you vacated the titles then clearly there is no point having the title since booking really don't care to book it regularly.

If I was to remove one of the men's titles then it would have to be the TV title. It started as a joke when Booker T brought it in and has gone through three names so far Legends to Global to Television. It has become a bit more serious when it changed name to the Television title that was until Abyss won the title. He won the title at Genesis on Jan 9th and at Jan 20th he was "injured" and written out of storylines. So he held the title for eleven days and has been out injured for fifty days. Yet for some reason the title hasn't been vacated.

Initially I thought TNA did need another midcard title that could be below the World title and above the X-Division but TNA simply don't have enough television time to book it well (or in another way they don't use their time efficiently enough). It should have been used better and if they had another hour wrestling show, like Xplosion but shown in the US, then it would work really well.

What do you think about the titles in TNA? What changes would you make?

Well first of all, the World Heavyweight Championship, World Tag Team Championships and Knockouts Championship are what I consider the most important titles of the company. If TNA can build a strong Knockouts division and a strong Tag Team division, both of which outshine the WWE's, it will be very positive for the company. The World Heavyweight Championship is pretty self-explanatory, you simply need a top title.

If they want the company to have that extra element to it, one that simply stands out from the WWE, then they MUST keep the X-Division Championship. The WWE killed their Cruiserweight division, so if TNA can make their X-Division more exciting and get people talking about it, then they will have major use for this title.

I think the Television Championship's history is pretty dodgy as it has gone through some name changes, which is silly and shows they're unsure what to do with the title. Everybody knows the WWE mid-card is fading and has really taken a backseat, so it'd be great to see TNA use the Television Championship more effectively to take advantage.

As for the Knockouts Tag Team Championships... get rid of them. They were brought in when the Knockouts division was at it's peak, but since then the number of Knockouts has decreased and the titles are just used because they're there really. There's no need for them at the moment.

So overall, considering the size of the TNA Roster, I see 5 of those 6 titles being useful if used properly.

I agree. When the KO's tag title started it kind of made sense, because if you are going to treat the female talent as equals then it they should have at least two titles of their own, and at the start they did push Serita and Tylor Wilde as an exciting midnight Express style duo, but they then blew it, and many people including myself have forgotten that they even still excist.

The legends title was a bit like the European Title in WWF, it could have bought something a bit different to things, but just didn't work.

Get rid of anything that seems like a waste, too much going on and too little time for TNA shows to have so many titles. It waters down the the other titles and it waters down their prestige. Keep the World title, Tag Titles and Knockouts titles. And if the X-Division is going to be treated like the cruiserweight division just scrap it. The TV title is a good secondary title, keep that around and substitute it for X-Division stars since the X-divsion seems to be a bad word nowadays.

TV title could be a good concept but Abyss hasn't been on the show in at least of month so it is totally worthless. KO Tag titles are a waste of space.
