Very good advice...also, it's best to lay low and stick to the group of people that you best fit in. Going into high school is a huge deal, so learning your limits is important. There are plenty of upperclassmen that will try to intimidate you, which is natural, but it is best to show them that you won't be swayed by their actions or words.

That's good, but you also have to remember to know your place as well, because people can be extremely brutal in school, it's best not to make any waves.

There's this one kid who bullied me for a year in middle school. If he starts with his shit this year, I'll drop his ass

High school is really simple. Just don't be a jackass. There's going to be bullies, assholes and any other negative stereotype you've seen in movies, but it doesn't mean you should let it affect you. Remember, your sole purpose for school isn't to be popular, make tons of friends, bang hot girls or stand up to the bully like you're the star of a John Hughes film. Your purpose is to simply learn something. So go to school, stay out of trouble, listen in class, do your homework and realize that high school makes up four years of your life. Everything that is a "Big Deal" won't be once you're out and you'll realize you were silly to care about a lot of the things you did.

Lastly, and I realize this sounds like a joke, but I'm being serious, don't join in on the harrassing of other students. If, God forbid, a bullied student is in a weak emotional state and decides to shoot up his school, who do you think he's most likely to aim for? The jock who picked on him or the random kid who sat next to him in Biology? Sadly, we're living in an age where thinking about such plans to get on these kid's good side is a wise idea.

I recommend watching Mean Girls to learn what not to do and The Faculty so you'll know if your school has been taken over by aliens. Or you could listen to Jim because he's right, sadly high school is not like a John Hughes film, as much as we all wish it was. He's mostly right about not joining in on any bully though, don't be a dick. The way it was for me was I just stuck to my group of friends and not much changed, you might make friends along the way too. It's not as much of a big scary experience as you might expect. I got kicked out in the first 5 minutes of the opening assembly my first day, I don't think I'd recommend that...
