I used to drink soda daily until it made me sick so I really had to change things up. It's been a few years now and I'm never looking back.

I know someone who used to drink a whole case of pop in a day, than he stopped and in 30 weeks he lost 60 pounds.

Also, seeing as I made note of it in Swamps' interview thread cut down on the booze. Alcohol is not only a testosterone killer but it's also very fattening as well.

Fuck I need to stop so unhealthy. I'm working out in an after school program and my coach tells us to eat healthy but it's so fucking hard. I love junk food :lol: I'm getting better but I'm far from perfect

You know, one day of eating shitty isn't bad for you. It's actually good for your metabolism, but stick to one day, don't go overboard.

Seriously, once you get out of the habit of eating junk regularly you never really want to look back. Every now on then is fine, I'm not going to turn down some M&M's if they're present.

No idea how I just noticed this now but anyways, I'm currently on a 3 day on/1 day off workout schedule. I do upper body the first day, cardio the second and lower the third. By that point I need the day off since my 35 year old body is still repairing the damage done to it from years of toxin abuse. Normally I try to do four mini-circuits (three exercises apiece plus one core) with minimal rest periods in between. I tend to eat pretty healthy as well and have cut down drinking a lot, although I could probably stand to chop out a little bit more of that.


What does everyone here eat prior to their workouts? I find a 1/4 cup of almonds is normally enough for me, plus the fat in the almonds converts to muscle during the workout so it's pretty good for you. I'll usually pack my big meal in about an hour to an hour and a half after my workout and then eat a smaller dinner. Nutrition is key, so I'm definitely interested in finding out what other people's eating habits are around here.

Before a workout, one of the things I recommend is eating a slice of toast with peanut butter and some chopped bananas. The fat in the peanut butter converts into muscle and than the carbs from the toast and the bananas give you fuel for a long intense workout. Mind you, I haven't personally done that in a while. At the moment I would recommend a smoothie with assorted fruit, almond milk and whey, I drink that first thing in the morning and it gives me the energy boost I need.

You're right, nutrition is the big key. No nutrition = no results. Currently my diet's right now is real high protein, low carb. Feel free to observe.

Breakfast
Omlette
- 3 large eggs
- 1/3 cup of broccoli
- 1/2 of a jalapeno (good for digestion)
- 6-7 big leaves of spinach
Smoothie
- 1/2 cup of assorted fruit (strawberries, blueberries, cherries, blackberries)
- 1 cup of vanilla almond milk
- 1 banana
- 1 scoop of musclepharm combat cinnamon bun whey

Snack 1
1/3 cup of trail mix
- sunflower seeds
- dried pineapple
- raisins
- pumpkin seeds

Lunch
2 fillets of Alaskan pollock
1/2 cup of Assorted vegetables
- broccoli
- red peppers
- carrots
- green beans
- white onions

Snack 2
1 cup of california mix
- broccoli
- carrots
- green beans

Supper
1 fillet of basa
1/2 cup of assorted vegetables

I don't eat any carbs - bread, rice, pasta, etc. Just clean meat and veggies really.

Yeah, thanks man, those are some handy food tips for sure. I don't eat as much fish as you, but I'm all over chicken and leaner meats. Need to add some snacking in during the day as well, that trail mix sounds pretty tasty.

Honestly, I'd save the banana/peanut butter sandwich for more intense work outs. It's very heavy to eat so the workout afterwards needs to represent that. I only tended to have it when I was setting out for longer, hour plus runs. Really does the trick though.

Since the bulk of my working out is in the mornings, breakfast is usually my pre workout meal. Coffee, granola cereal, and a banana following by a small protein shake usually do the trick for me.

Going to get into making omelettes soon, not a big fan of most berries but I definitely want to try those smoothies before a workout. I usually get bananas in after a workout but they definitely give you energy to get through too. I've stopped eating bread really for the past few weeks and I don't know, I just feel better and not bloated. I've pretty much been eating whole wheat wraps with chicken instead which is solid. Need to get another pack of chicken tomorrow though for the past few days I've been eating tuna wraps which is just more satisfying than eating tuna out of the can.

Hey! For me there's no such thing as a light workout. :lol: Strength and conditioning for an hour and a half straight usually does call for something like that.

But if you are gonna do that, I suggest getting flaxseed toast. Flaxseeds (along with green tea) help reduce estrogen which is like I said, the feminine hormone which causes you to gain fat. Although regular whole grain does the trick, but try it out!

That's good man! Yeah, overall complex carbs in general just seem to really make you bloat out. And tuna is actually good right out of the can! I'm pretty sure one can has 23g of protein... which is amazing.

The only reason I eat fish more than anything is because it has less cholesterol than chicken & turkey and therefore can go through your system easier.

Yeah, I had no idea how great tuna really was. The cans I have right now are only 15g of protein but still, that's awesome.

I was also going to mention, if anybody's a big fan of whey check out Musclepharm's Cinnamon Bun combat protein. I mix it in with my smoothie, and man, is it ever good!
