My opinion was stated and I voted how I wanted not sure anyone's choices can be wrong in an opinion based poll.

I'm not saying its wrong so much as I'm saying its hard to argue that Roode's single reign was greater than the sum total of Jarrett's. If everything Roode had done as champ hadn't been subsequently undone by shitty booking, I might have given him more consideration.

How can someone booking themselves as champ be any better? Cyrus you should vote in your own tourney as should Horrorfan_1986 and Halfbreed

Who else would you rather have had as champ back in TNA's infancy? Someone you couldn't trust to stick around or flake out? Jarrett kept the belt on himself because he was the only guy who could be trusted 100% not to leave in the middle of the night. It was more of a business decision than an ego thing (at least in my mind) and besides, it makes sense given the heat he was getting while also further establishing the title's (and therefore the promotion's) credibility. Also, if a champ is around to help make new stars, its hard to argue against Jarrett, who is partially responsible for helping AJ Styles get over the hump. I'm sure one can argue Roode did the same for Aries, but lets face it, he was going to get there with or without Roode's endorsement.

Who cares if he booked himself as champ, it has to do with how good the reign(s) were. Jeff had six freakin reigns totaling over 3 years and he did wonders with his promos while champ making people want to watch. Roode may have been a good champ but one reign doesn't compare to 6 reigns where he represented TNA

6 reigns, none as long or good as Roode's. It's that simple to me.

Inferno why do you bother even getting involved in these debates you add nothing to them...ever...

Jarrett didn't need to have reigns as long as he did and as many as he did...he could have used to establish other guys in the federation...yeah he helped build AJ but also was booked to have a 347 day title reign when AJ was proving that he was deserving of longer reigns...guys like Daniels, Kazarian, & Monty Brown could have also been built up and used properly..
I am sorry but when your dad starts a company and you run it and give yourself the title because you burned your other bridges it really doesn't hold much water imo...yeah he had the title for a long time but I can start a fed and make myself the champion too if I wanted...

If I don't add anything then why did you answer me? Once again, he helped TNA at the beginning due to his execellent heel work with the belt. One of the reasons TNA is so big is because of Jarrett.

I won't dispute the Monty Brown thing since I consider it the biggest mistake TNA has ever made, but I can't put all of that blame on Jarrett since I don't know for sure what was going on behind the scenes at the time. As for AJ, I've already argued that Jarrett essentially made him (regardless of length of runs).

It's also hard to take the "booking himself" thing seriously when he dropped the title multiple times. If he was so hell bent on making himself the top draw (doubtful even given his ego) I believe he would have vetoed even AJ's title runs and perhaps would have been the inaugural champ. More than anything else, it still comes across as bitterness that Jarrett and his dad started the company than anything else, even if it's not meant to sound that way. I couldn't care less who owns what provided the champ does what they're supposed to do, mainly establish credibility for the belt while also providing security in knowing they won't just up and leave. Jarrett did both.

At this point, I haven't seen anyone make a convincing argument to Roode being a "greater" champ than Jarrett and that's considering I don't even think Jarrett's all that great to begin with.

:aids:

Maybe it is because I am not a JJ guy and never have been, I vote for these things with how I feel and in my opinion Roode did more to establish himself and give prestige to a title that hadn't had it in quite sometime with has beens and Andersons and such...that is really all I got and I am sure I have lost this debate and you are probably right...doesn't mean I am wrong though

Nope, there's no right and wrong, and given the Anderson comment I'm at least willing to look at it from your perspective. As far as re-establishing the belt, I think Roode was definitely the right and stable choice. After the revolving door of idiotic champs, he was not only a breath of fresh air but a homegrown one at that. I can see why that's a compelling enough argument to consider him a great champ, so at the very least I can see your side of things.

Still, I'm sticking with Jarrett and its not because I like the guy, I just think his overall impact as champion over the course of the company's history outweighs Roode's. However, come back to this same question in a few years (and hopefully another couple of Roode reigns) and I'm almost positive I'd vote differently.

Only grandslam champion? Angle held every title at once. Lol

Actually they have NEVER said Kurt is the Grand Slam Champion and if I am correct either this past or last Impact they even said AJ is the ONLY grand slam Champion and Kurt hasn't held every title they have had AJ on the other hand has that's why he's the ONLY grand slam Champion.

Also I am a JJ guy but I feel Robert Roode's reigns were just better as he beat pretty much established guys while JJ beat some guys that left pretty quickly.

I'm going to take Booty's advice and vote in my own poll....

As much as I hate the guy, I gotta go with Jeff Jarrett over Bobby Roode. Not taking anything from Roode's reign, which I personally enjoyed (plus I am a big time Roode fan), but I feel if we are looking at the bigger picture of the title, Jarrett has the win in this. Yes, Roode had some classics and really put the TNA Heavyweight Title on a new level, and nobody can take away his bragging rights. However, when I look at Jarrett's title reigns, I'm thinking of a time where TNA was really trying to find their identity as a company, and they did a lot of experimentation as a whole. Jarrett had a few lengthy reigns, but then he also had a few not so spectacular as well. However, I look at some of the things he did while champ like assisting in building new contenders (AJ, Christian, Rhyno, Raven) for his title, which the guys in parenthesis actually won. Also, in the Jarrett era of the belt, we were given matches like KotM and he also brought AMW to a new level as heels by aligning with him. Overall, I feel Jarrett did more as champion and deserves the nod here, and although I would have loved to vote for Roode, I know it would of been wrong to do so as I remember watching Jarrett as champ and recall a few of his runs being more influential, on the whole, than Roode's. I think we need to understand that these are two different eras in the company as well, so it is somewhat difficult to judge.

As for the second showdown, I am going with AJ Styles. Like a few of you have said before, AJ has been the face of TNA, I feel, since its inception when he became the first X Division Champion. It's no secret that his contributions to the company have been great, and I feel he did the same when he won the World Title. Although Kurt had some good matches, I feel every AJ match is great, and it only made the title look stronger when he defended or won it.
