Yeah, if anything the jury selection actually helps Zimmerman considering the racially-charged nature of the crime. With 5 of the 6 jurors being white and practically all the backup jurors being white as well, he stands a magnificent chance to get off.
And that's the justice system done right imo. The guy is still entitled to a fair trial and biased jurors won't give him that. I know a lot of people are upset about it considering that particular area of Florida is almost 30% black and about 45% white, so a lot of them think there should have been more black jurors.
However, not to sound racist or stereotyping here, but I sure as fuck wouldn't trust my fate to a jury of black folk if I was on trial for allegedly murdering a black person. Do you think it wouldn't cross my mind that these jurors might band together and take advantage of the tables being reversed in a high-profile murder case? You bet your ass it would and rightfully so. It damn sure occurred to Zimmerman and his lawyer. That's a very real possibility, and under the American judicial system all accused are innocent until proven guilty and are entitled to a fair trial.
The fact the jurors are women doesn't hurt him, really. Women aren't going to band together the same way. But when you throw race into the mix, it's fucking chaos. Look at the OJ Simpson trial and look no further. Most black people, despite the overwhelming evidence against Simpson, sided with Simpson. And everyone else on earth wanted to see him executed.
