Senators have 6 year terms here so I can def see more of an argument there but representatives on have two years, it's actually quite a detriment that they have to focus on campaigning for like half their term no matter what

Depends on what it is. I'd honestly be more for health requirements and cognitive tests. That sort of thing. Maybe an age limit if it's really high. No one in their 90s should be a congressman, probably.

if you dont want limits though, i still think all these folks need to be more vetted anually or bi annualy by non partisan entitities to prevent fraud

I think the biggest thing is get rid of a payroll for politicians.

The plebiscite... Only had 30% voter turnout. In a place which had 80% voter turn out in a Hurricane. There were five options, two were First Past the Post (then FPTP + leaders which... unconstitutional) then they had MMP, Dual Member (which they created) and preferential/ranked. They had it in instant runoffs of your rankings, whatever one gets 50%+1 first wins. (cont again)

The results. MMP won, but only after a final round where FPTP was leading every round except for the last, and considering it was 3 options which were similar to MMP, easy to see why it won. So the next Prov Election had a referendum with it, either MMP or keeping FPTP, and it lost. That killed the debate for some time.

I'd say that's a no true Scotsman type of defense, but I'm not assed enough to debate it so I'll say gotcha. Dak was definitely more pressed, though.

yes essentially gov workers should be working ofr the people not money but thats tough to make sense of in a capitalist society. I think a better solution is to make any sort of corporate contribution or influence illegal. but were so deep in that and eveyrone is already bought off
