Minnesota seems to be the only state these days where they don't view human rights as a communist plot

It helps when the entire government is DFL and actually human rights focused. All but 2 Republican representatives voted no for Marijuana legalization despite the fact that, as far as that policy goes, it's one of the biggest win-wins for the general population. Conservatives want it because it's an "individual freedom". Liberals want it because it's a taxable income for the state and brings in business, and would lower the crime rate. But the Republicans are just... dumb. They do this because they don't want to give the DFL credit for good policy.

Minnesota's budget actually passed with a provision to set forth a percentage of the $1 Billion surplus that we have (yes. Minnesota does so well it isn't in debt) towards affordable housing and building housing projects.

Minnesota makes so much money and their budget is so balanced they literally are able to save money and store it away for major projects and public works. It's the only state in the US, IIRC, that actually has a surplus.

Our stores in Colorado usually get a small mount from the state every year bc they have a surplus and give it back to anyone or any entity paying taxes to the state, I think they started doing that when weed was legalized as an incentive for people to accept it once they saw the money it was making lmao
