Today we are putting our beloved cat down. It's pretty damn hard too. I won't lie, I've been crying, this cat has been with us since I was 6 years old and I'm 23 this year.

So have you had to put a pet down? How did it effect you after?

I had a cat that I got after we left my father, when I was about 7 or 8, and it lived until I was about 19 or 20.

His back was screwed up, to the point that if anyone touched him near the bottom of his spine he would start biting himself, and my mothers cunt of a friend thought it was the funniest thing in the world. Eventually it got so bad that he couldn't walk anymore, and we had to put him down.

It was like losing a member of the family, I still keep a picture of him near my bed, nearly 20 years later.

Yeah my dad had to put down our cat last year. I'd had that cat since early in high school, so it was pretty devastating. If I got another cat, it'd been the same breed because it was just a perfect pet.

Yeah, we put Charlie down bout half an hour ago, but I've been crying in my works parking lot for an hour. I said goodbye to a brother today.

my dog had gotten stolen and when my brother found him he was tied to tree with no home in the middle of january.
he was sick, never ate and only got worse. went to vet and i asked if he could be fixed. he basically said it was a longshot. so i had him put down.

i still miss lil buster.

We just had to put down our boxer Dudley a few months ago.. Me and my wife had bought him together about a year into our relationship together... He was the first thing that was "ours"... One of the hardest nights of my life and hers and it was very sudden... I took him to the vet because he'd been acting lethargic and his stomach looked a little bloated and when the X-ray came back they found he had a fast growing tumor that had pretty much taken over his abdomen... They had put him under to do the xrays and he never woke up.... Never got to say goodbye... We have his ashes in an urn in our living room and pictures of him everywhere...

Nope, not yet. We put down a cat of ours years ago when we were kids, but I never loved it. She was a cunt.

My two cats now, I will probably cry when they die.

Had to put down my dog about three years ago. She was deaf, starting to go blind and was having issues with her hips. We had always said that we wanted her to walk into the vet rather than us having to carry her. She was in too much pain so we had her put down, our vet was great though and it was a really sunny day so we did it outside in the garden. Was a really nice way for her to go. I find it odd that we are able to show this much compassion to our animals and put them out of their misery yet euthanasia is still banned in most countries.
