When the poll was first put up it was a landslide in the other direction. I was only the third vote for "Brave" when "Baby" had about twelve. I think it was Seabs arguments that tipped the balance, he really bought some intelligence and insight to the thread. The rest of us Punk marks were just pouting, lol.
Disregarding my heart-on-a-slave Punk post. How dare you. :(

Can we add an extra poll of "who cares"

I like Punk and have defended him but him not in the WWE whilst a loss well its no end of the world crap theres guys who can replace him given chance. Theres so much talent right now so its just not as huge a thing as it could've been.

There were a lot of gems in that debate, lol. Point is, it's nice that there's intelligent Punk marks out there like Seabs and yourself. :obama:

We'll chalk it off to a differing opinion to avoid repeating ourselves further, good debate dude.

Good debate indeed. I do hope that things do change for the long term.

Alright,

I'm saying one last thing and then I'm done. I'm not even saying this to be argumentative or get into a debate that'll be ongoing and never end. I can't resist saying something; more or less, reiterating my point.

First, I commend Punk. He's very brave, did something no one expected, and, as I said before, this will force WWE to push certain superstars into the spotlight more often because of Punk's absence. No argument from me there. I 100% agree that this will happen (look at DB already). However, and this is where my issue resides, will this be long term--as stated before, a "ripple effect" for younger talent--moving forward? My argument is that, no, it won't be. I certainly hope I'm wrong, but I don't feel Punk walking away will cause this affect.
If this was in fact the case and it was as easy as someone just walking out, it would've happened already. And, the comparison I'm going to make isn't apples and oranges, because it makes sense in the long run. For example, as I somewhat discussed previously, big superstars have left before. Granted, yes, it was planned and WWE knew they weren't going to sign another contract yet--or who knows maybe they didn't know if they would resign at all. The point is that WWE fills shoes at that point. They find some superstars to step up an take some of that spotlight or they use their current "bigger" talent and excel them more. It's business and it's what they've been doing all along. Superstars not resigning, whether out of frustration or whatever, hasn't caused WWE to rethink their entire creative strategy moving forward, yet somehow, we feel that because Punk just walked out around WrestleMania, that this will cause WWE to change everything moving forward? As if him leaving the way he did will make Vince think to himself, "well, gee, ya know...Punk was big and all...and, despite what he's been saying for years, I've still made a ton of money.....let me see...I think from now on superstars will be pushed quicker, backstage politics will be gone, DB will headline Mania, Batista will turn heel and be out of the title picture, and Tyson Kidd will turn into a world champion very soon..." I don't think that will happen. And I guess that was my point from the beginning. I hope and pray it happens and that this ripple effect does in fact occur; but, based off how WWE does business, regardless of any hurdle they've faced (much like punk leaving now), they just say, "oh well" and move forward. This can cause DB and Reigns some more spotlight sure. But is it going to change WWE's ways? I don't think so.

I love you Seabs and Crayo <3

This is so true. I'm as big a Punk fan as anybody, but just look at the guys on the current roster who are waiting for a chance to shine. If Punk's spot (anti-authority smaller indie wrestler who is not the "WWE Golden Boy Ideal) is vacated, Dean Ambrose is already there, as are Seth Rollins and Antonio Cesaro and we haven't left the upper midcard yet. With the eminent breakup of the Shield and the teased troubles between the Real Americans, those three guys are all free from their current programs within the next three to six months.

You can always dip into NXT and grab Zayn or Graves (hell, Graves' gimmick is basically a copy of Punk's except for the Straight-Edge bit, which has been basically ignored since the end of the SES).

I want Punk to stay around forever (don't worry; I know that would be impossible), but everybody's career eventually ends.

He's a damn crybaby who wants to be remembered for everything he does instead of actually just wrestle wherever he is put and not bitch incessantly about it.

Explain rather than answer.
Did you read anything throughout this whole thread? I've explained enough.

To summarize quickly for you, Punk's "bitching" isn't because "He's a damn crybaby who wants to be
remembered for everything he does instead of actually just wrestle wherever he is put and not bitch
incessantly about it." It's because he wants younger talent, experienced talent (DB), himself, etc. to be pushed more towards the top. Also, you said he just wants to be remembered for everything he does...ummm, who wouldn't want to be remembered? lol.

Continuing, Punk does and has wrestled wherever they put him. Is he upset when he feels like DB, himself, Tyson Kidd, and others are belittled? Yes he does. This doesn't make him a baby, rather he's standing up for himself and others in the back. More often than not, Punk is 100% right with what he says: look at the RR for an example. Punk will voice his concerns when it's needed and feels that WWE holds too many superstars back, which that is clearly true. If you take that as "He's a damn crybaby who wants to be remembered for everything he does instead of actually just wrestle wherever he is put and not bitch incessantly about it," then that's your opinion; I do, however, fell that you're wrong.
