I think we stay 4th. India's loss sees them go to 3rd, and South Africa go to 2nd. If we win the series against West Indies we go to 3rd.

If we win 4-0 we go to third but if we win 3-0 we remain fourth. I can't remember the specific numbers but I saw someone post them on another site.

Can't wait for the test tomorrow, I work about a five minute walk from the Adelaide Oval so I should be able to hear what is going on plus I plan on going after work to the game on a couple of days to catch the last bit of play.

Whats your thoughts on Bailey being T20 Captain.

I've never ever heard of him and the side looks like a bunch of rookies, not impressed.

Bailey has been on the fringes of T20 and ODI selection for sometime but he doesn't deserve the captaincy or the spot in the side. White should be dropped because he has been in terrible form but someone else should be captain, maybe Matthew Wade. The squad looks great in my opinion, they picked T20 specialists that are in form and it should be a winning side. My XI from that squad would be;

S Marsh
Warner
Birt
D Hussey
Bailey (c) (only picked him because he is captain and they will play him)
Christian
Wade
M Marsh
Faulkner
Lee
Doherty
Missing out are: Hogg, McKay and Finch

Australia wrapped up the last test today with a 298 run win. Another dominant performance to win the series 4-1. Nice to see Lyon take four wickets in the last innings to get some reward for his bowling. Shocked that Siddle got MOTM considering Ponting scored 221, 60* and took a couple of catches. Ponting unlucky not to get MOTS either since he scored two centuries and three fifties in six innings compared to Clarke's two centuries (although they were massive scores). Siddle and Hilfy would have been close to getting MOTS as well.

I will seriously laugh if our T20 side beats India in a white-wash. That is the worst T20 we could have picked, happy for Finch though.

Zimbabwe all out for 51 against New Zealand and batting second inning now where they are two wickets for 5... LOL

It is actually one of the best T20 sides we could have picked. What other player do you think should be in the team? Basically everyone that performed well in the Big Bash is in the team.

Zimbabwe shouldn't have test status anymore, let them play ODI's and T20's but they don't deserves tests. Give Ireland their spot, within ten years Ireland should have a test team that should be able to compete better than Zimbabwe/Bangladesh.

I agree.

Who does Australia play in the Winter break?

All I know is we have Sri Lanka for the Boxing Day test.

The only person who I think is unlucky to miss out is Brad Hodge. He is one of the best T20 players Australia has ever had yet the selectors hate him. They bring back a 41 year old Brad Hogg yet ignore a 38 year old Brad Hodge even though both are in great form.

Australia have the ODI series next against India and Sri Lanka. Then a tour of West Indies with 2 T20s, 5 ODIs and 3 Tests. 1 ODI against Ireland and 5 against England. T20 world cup is in September as well.

Oh boy did anyone watch the Big Bash final? Lee is still in good form, and that first over proved it. Also, his economy rate is a lot better nowadays as he's realised to use length, swing and movement instead of just sheer pace.

Idk what's up with the Indians, but I don't see them beating Australia in the T20. BTW - I thought Warner was captaining the T20 side? I swear selectors wanted to give him experience as they pick him as one of the few people who would be extremely likely to stay within the Australian side in all forms of the game.

The only person who shouldn't be in that side is George Bailey. Simple as that. The rest all proved in the Big Bash league that they deserved to be in there. Maybe Shaun Marsh out for someone young like Maddinson or Henriques would have been one move that could have been made. But I'm happy with it, and I think we will win 2-0.

Bailey is in for his captaincy, he has a great kanck for field placing and if necessary can throw the bat around as well.

Calling us winning 2-0 is a bit of a brave call, especially given the Indian batting lineup. T20 is a weird game, bat well and scoreboard pressure melts even the best of teams.

I don't reckon calling it 2-0 is a huge call, especially since no one expected us to take the series 4-0.

But, like you said, T20 is a weird game and anything can happen; which is why it's such a big draw and cricket is damn lucky to have it. Nonetheless, along with Bailey I'm not a huge fan of Shaun Marsh being in the side either. He was given many times to prove he could score over 10, and that just didn't happen. Devolyf4marsh :( Henriques would've been a much better choice, at least imo.

I went up to both the Twenty 20 and the ODI on Friday and Sunday. Twenty20 crowd 61,000..ODI Crowd 29,000. I know the weather was bad on Sunday but i think the differential would have been huge no matter the weather. 50 over cricket seems to be a dying art form, hopefully the crowds a better for the rest of the series.

The introduction of T20 is killing off the ODI unfortunately. Parents can take their kids to watch an exciting game of cricket that's over and done in a few hours, as opposed to a game that is at max 8-9 hours.

Killing of ODI? Whether you like it or not, it's not like ODI Cricket was flourishing fruitfully and bringing in huge crowds.

I'm an avid cricket supporter, and with T20... well, it's obvious it has saved the entertainment aspect for the "happy-go-lucky" viewers if you will. It draws in a LOT more views and has essentially ensured that cricket remains afloat... the IPL is a huge success, and the Big Bash here in Australia did wonders for Fox Sports.

If I had to choose between ODI and T20, the cricket traditionalist in me goes ODI every time, but the supporter that wants to still be watching competitive cricket in years ahead, well, he goes the opposite way.
