Those of us that watched Raw last night saw Cody Rhodes fight a valiant match against Randy Orton but ultimately come out on the losing end. As punishment for this, and for snubbing HHH and Orton by not inviting them to his wedding, Hunter saw fit to unceremoniously fire Rhodes, effectively ending his promising career. Cody proceeded to the back and cut a scathing promo on the McMahon family, saying that he wasn't surprised this happened because they've hated the Rhodes family for years. He brought up his father's legacy and the attempt to tarnish it by making him wear polka dots (no mention about how Dusty managed to get it over mind you) before slamming the door and leaving.
I feel this is the start of something pretty big for Rhodes if they play their cards right, and am wondering if anyone else feels the same way and how they think it'll all play out. One thing I mentioned in the Raw thread last night was that I couldn't wait to see him come back as the Midnight Rider. That's an angle his dad used to use when he'd be "fired" or lose the old "loser leaves town" matches in the territory days. After "leaving", Dusty would return dressed as the Midnight Rider and nobody would know it was him even though it was obvious. I'm not sure that this is the best route to go however, since Cody may get lost behind the gimmick itself, although he has proven in the past that he's capable of working gimmicks to their full advantage.
Another thought I've seen going around the 'net is that he could insert himself into the Daniel Bryan storyline as he no longer has to worry about being fired. In this case I guess he'd be a paying audience member or invited by friends and would come out to help Bryan when the Shield inevitably try to attack him again. Regardless of how this plays out though, I do feel this may be Cody's best opportunity yet...what do you guys think?
