Those of us that watched Raw last night saw Cody Rhodes fight a valiant match against Randy Orton but ultimately come out on the losing end. As punishment for this, and for snubbing HHH and Orton by not inviting them to his wedding, Hunter saw fit to unceremoniously fire Rhodes, effectively ending his promising career. Cody proceeded to the back and cut a scathing promo on the McMahon family, saying that he wasn't surprised this happened because they've hated the Rhodes family for years. He brought up his father's legacy and the attempt to tarnish it by making him wear polka dots (no mention about how Dusty managed to get it over mind you) before slamming the door and leaving.

I feel this is the start of something pretty big for Rhodes if they play their cards right, and am wondering if anyone else feels the same way and how they think it'll all play out. One thing I mentioned in the Raw thread last night was that I couldn't wait to see him come back as the Midnight Rider. That's an angle his dad used to use when he'd be "fired" or lose the old "loser leaves town" matches in the territory days. After "leaving", Dusty would return dressed as the Midnight Rider and nobody would know it was him even though it was obvious. I'm not sure that this is the best route to go however, since Cody may get lost behind the gimmick itself, although he has proven in the past that he's capable of working gimmicks to their full advantage.

Another thought I've seen going around the 'net is that he could insert himself into the Daniel Bryan storyline as he no longer has to worry about being fired. In this case I guess he'd be a paying audience member or invited by friends and would come out to help Bryan when the Shield inevitably try to attack him again. Regardless of how this plays out though, I do feel this may be Cody's best opportunity yet...what do you guys think?

not only do I feel this angle is making Daniel Bryan as of last night I now believe this will also made a legit superstar face out of Cody...the midnight rider would be great but also what would be great is if not only is Cody in the audience he has big brother with him and maybe they both do some interjecting cuz Dustin is in great shape and could easily help in this angle making his brother the star

Wouldn't mind seeing Dustin back in any capacity, he would definitely be a help to Cody and let's face it, based on the Rumble appearance alone, the fans still love him. I was thinking perhaps Cody will align himself with Bryan to help form a Survivor Series team to take on Orton and The Shield. If they went for the traditional four on four match, I'd think Bryan/Cody/Dolph/Show vs. Orton/Reigns/Rollins/Ambrose would have some serious potential. Hell they could add Dustin and HHH on the opposite sides and really go all out.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I do dig this idea/storyline. This would not only put Cody over as one of the biggest faces next to Daniel Bryan and John Cena, but it will also escalate his career to a steady main event status opposed from being stuck in the mid-card range. There are many, if not most, superstars would dig Cody Rhodes enough to have him front row seat for their matches and if the Shield attacks Daniel Bryan, he would have immediate access. After a few weeks of Cody Rhodes attacking the Shield and being thrown out by security, I could see Randy Orton or the Shield wanting Cody Rhodes in the ring forcing Triple H or Stephanie to reinstate him. It doesn't even have to be a front row seat type of thing, it could also be Cody Rhodes waiting in the wings of the backstage area and when the Shield's music hits, everybody looks for them coming down the stairs, but no Shield. It could be because Cody Rhodes attacked the three with steel chairs. I would personally love to see a Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, Big Show, and Cody Rhodes alliance to battle the Corporate Alliance.

While I have not been a fan of Dustin since his days as Goldust with Marlena, he has a long history with Trips, so it would definitely lead to some powerfully intense segments between the two. It would had some history to the fire as well as heat. I think Dustin still has it, wrestling wise to do battle with Triple H. A Survivor Series elimination match between the two teams would be GOLD. I would definitely get the PPV just for the match.

I have an update on Cody's status but its from pwpix.net so I guess I can't post it.

Anyway, im sure like The Viper's mom predicted, he'll come back and aggravate Hunter because he has nothing to lose and finally Triple H will hire him back but only to make his life miserable.

I want to see more... yes we all know Cody needs his honeymoon and all that... storyline wise I wouldn't mind him returning with his family "paying" to be in the crowd. After all WWE.com posted an article today about both Dusty and Dustin being mad at the decision to fire Cody. So I could make sense to have both Rhodes backing up Cody.

To be honest I would love to see him jumping the rail to help Bryan or to cost Randy matches or something that could get under HHH skin. That's the type of things I think could be best now. But I still need to see more, I don't know which direction they will follow and WWE has a tendency to fuck great angles in recent history.

Checked out the stuff from last night, Rhodes was on fire and the crowd was going bonkers for him! This can only lead to bigger and better things for him. He's one of the main guys that has to be targeting Triple H and his corporation right now, no matter how he manages to do so. He's involved and hopefully stays that way upon his inevitable return.

This is what I see happening, and I would love for it to go down this way.

God, I'd love for that to happen and my mom was right all along.

But yeah, all of this that has been mentioned in this thread so far is what I see happening and wanna see happen. Dustin showing up, just as Dustin is a sight I'd love to see right now. Dusty, sure, but we see him on like, every special episode of Raw and/or Smackdown. Haven't seen Dustin in a while, I don't think. Since a recent rumble, I guess.

TBH, this has me more excited than what they're doing with Bryan at the moment.

Great to see Goldy back on Raw for sure.
