Characters That WWE Had Wasted

There are some great wrestlers who had great potential with their gimmicks but they have been wasted. WWE just couldn't use them right and their talent has been wasted. They got released or left the company. For me;

Christian:

As a big fan of Captain Charisma, I am so furious to WWE about can't using this character very well. He got the Intercontinental Title but Christian and this gimmick was just main event caliber. He was a great heel and Tomko & Trish gave a lot to his character. He was a heel but he was beloved by the fans. This had big potential but WWE couldn't use it.

Also Raven is a big loss for me. He had so big potential but WWE couldn't use him well.

Well your an obvious mark for him the thing is there wasn't really much character to him. He's bland he's not a character hes basically the same as any other guy without a knack.

When you say characters I think of Mordecai, Muhammad Hassan, O Hair with the "I'm not telling you anything you don't already know" those are "characters" is Christian a wasted talent? Perhaps.

When you say characters I think of Mordecai, Muhammad Hassan, O Haire with the "I'm not telling you anything you don't already know" those are "characters" is Christian a wasted talent? Perhaps.

These three are the perfect example of characters that didn't receive the proper chance.

Unfortunately, Hassan was more of a victim of bad timing as opposed to not receiving the opportunity. He could have been big if it weren't for the bombing that occurred the same week his character had masked men take out Undertaker.

Mordecai was a guy who I liked at the time and he seemed to be on pace for feuds with Undertaker and then WWE Champion Eddie Guerrero. I don't know what happened to derail his push, but the Kevin Thorn repackage was underwhelming and I was disappointed to find out the two were the game guy.

I didn't care too much for O'Haire in the ring, but his characters and his vignettes were pretty damn intriguing. And in this era, that's all it takes.

Goldust. In 2002, he was at his absolute best, after the 1996 and 1997 "shock" character had run its course. His short program with Rob Van Dam was absolutely brilliant, with absolutely chilling and riveting pre-taped promos. Dustin's best. Although, to oppose my point, the comedic team of Goldust and Booker T was insanely popular and memorable with fans.

Muhammad Hassan. He was already mentioned.

Kane. He was wasted for YEARS before being given the ball and told to run with it in 2010.

Sean O'Haire stands out the most. WWE were onto something great with the Devils Advocate gimmick then because Piper got released (which by the way that pairing was just completely random and unneeded) they stopped using him and eventually released him too.

Right, so Sean O'Haire (before getting fat and becoming a shitty MMA fighter) had this "Devil's Advocate" gimmick.

It was a really interesting gimmick that had potential to become huge. (For at least one run) They were all pre-taped promos though for the most part so it was difficult to gauge whether or not O'Haire could actually pull the gimmick off. Credit to him though, he definitely had the look for the gimmick.

My memory is a bit hazy here but somehow they paired him with Roddy Piper, which was awful. Piper didn't sell the gimmick at all. The only thing they did together was face off against Mr. America and Zack Gowan? Am I wrong on that one?

Regardless, the gimmick was dead in the water as soon as they paired him with Piper. Piper overshadowed him completely and after Piper was released, O'Haire was done shortly after and left to get his brain turned into mush by Butterbean.

Calling Christian bland then going on to say Mordecai could of been something is just stupid, sorry. Christian could of actually been a star in 2005 because he was mad popular and delivering some of the best promos and matches in the biz.

Name one single thing Kevin Thorn did in either of his gimmicks. Sure, his costume designer made him look cool and edgy but thats where it ended, Shelly Martinez became a bigger star than him and rightfully so. Carrying a trident round in some goth gimmick is not original at all, sorry. He was 2004's answer to Mideon.

Marcus Cor Von is another that was wasted. He didn't really have a character and that can be a discredit to the WWE being unable to book certain people. His finisher 'The Pounce' would have gotten him over alone not to mention he had the look and ability to be something good.

Elijah Burke is another good mention. Slap a character on him and he could have been something decent. I haven't seen much of him in TNA but it seems as though they did something right by him by giving him the Pope gimmick.

Umaga wasn't really wasted - he was used quite well but I thought he should have won a World Title. I was shattered when he died because I was eagerly awaiting his comeback, because I knew they had some big ideas planned for him.

How could Brown be wasted when he didn't suffer but only one loss in singles competition? That's it, he only lost once in his whole tenure, and that was after he put in his notice to leave for family matters during the ecw title tourney. The guy was over, featured in the new breed, and protected from pins and submissions. He admittedly liked his time there it just had to end because of something beyond eithers control. They even let him do his finisher and use his Pounce Period line while pointing out his football pass all over the website

Burke was put in charge of the New Breed and had Vince McMahon himself call him the future of the brand. It's hard to go anywhere but down from there. Plus everything hats ever been said was he was taken off TV and then the road because of his attitude. He had tremendous talent though and I would love to see him return, but it was just a case of being too young and handed things too quick on ecw


Umaga was a great big man, but to m I didn't really see world champ without Estrada.

The title of this thread just screams Diamond Dallas Page and Raven. Those two came up with some of the best ideas to push midcard guys ever back in WCW.
I mean, they weren't anything special in the ring, but if WWE had given those two a pad and a pen, there would have been storylines and characters for
everyone, and they'd ALL be worth watching.

Duke Drosey, around this time nearly every big name WWF superstar was taking off to WCW, I would have buried them all to the trash man. Think of how much more entertaining it would have been to see him take Heenan and drop him in a dumpster outside the arena, rather than him being escorted by security.
