John Cena spoke with NOLA.com about the World Heavyweight Championship being viewed as a 'second-tier' title.

"This is not taken as a shot of disrespect to anyone who has held the title before me, but it's now viewed as a second-tier championship. (Defending it at WrestleMania 30) will truly put a stamp on making it the real deal. I want the WWE universe to realize that it's not a second-tier championship. It should be treated with as much respect as the WWE title."

:cena3: He Cena Nuff. I agree with him, pure honesty, it's been tainted and only he can reset it and restore it after the past few champs. Hope this means a long run

I do too, but I have absolutely no faith in them keeping it equal with the WWE title after Cena loses it. Shame because the big gold belt is the best design in history.

sure if he starts main eventing every show from here on til WM31 with the world title then i'll believe he restored credibility to it.

Whether it's true or not, it's stupid of him to call it a second tier title and doesn't exactly help matters. Just screams of a massive ego stroking comment and him holding and dropping the title isn't going to make an ounce of difference to it's credibility when they still have the shitty MITB formula and are insistent on having it open Mania and shit like that.

2nd best (wwf attitude title), but I agree that once Cena loses it, it has to be to the right guy and needs to be featured well. It can't be tossed around, a MITB whore, or opening ppvs like a Midcard title

He's kinda stating the obvious really. I mean technically there's no rule stating that a World title has to be a first tier belt. Clearly a world title should be the first tier but the WWE Championship surpasses the WHC as the top belt and it's kind of impossible to have two top belts in the WWE, especially since both of the World title are being feuded for on RAW. I'm not going to go on how WWE should introduce the brand split and whatnot because that's not what this thread is about.

Back on topic I doubt Cena's one reign will bring up the value of the WHC, considering that he's already a 3 or 4 time WHC. Honestly all they need is a couple of solid superstars with somewhat good draws and a solid storyline, and already they're off to a good start. It kind of drives me nuts that WWE is thinking that Cena is the answer to all of their problems, he has to retire at some point right?

I'm curious as to what he thinks he can really do for it. Nobody is going to give a shit about the title unless he's holding it.

I get what you're saying but it's been done before with the WCW and WWF title and no split up brands. A brand split, meaning a hard one, would ideally help, but it hurts the company to not have Cena on raw, and fact is there's no equivalent 1A/2 guy like Dave to carry the wwe title and draw if it was sent to sd while the world title stayed on raw.

The best thing that could happen for both is honestly Orton getting a long heel run and being the second to last match on ppvs, while Cena carries the world title and closes ppvs. Place Cena on in hour 2 of raw and closing sd, not always wrestling, but closing. Place Orton in hour 1 of sd and let him close the final hour of raw.

There's also just the thing people don't want to think about, belt for belt, not a unification persay but the same way warrior and hogan or Booker and Steiner did it, where Cena just wins. Problem is you have him work less free TV matches, which he really should anyhow (cow and milk analogy) to work multiple ppv matches

So at Wrestlemania 30 it will be Cena vs Orton/Bryan for the unification belt with Cena obviously winning.

If they don't unify them, I'd bet money on the fact we get Orton/Punk/Bryan as the 4th main event. Cenas world title match, Brock's brawl (if he faces Taker, a HBK/Rock/Hogan return), and The Streak (assuming its not Brock) being the main 3 attractions.

Fact Stephanie admitted they are trying to launch the network around mania time (in that quarter) means they can't afford a flop at all. Launch a network, set revenue records at WM 30, it screams bring out the AKs and put down the 9s

That opening post is corny as fuck PSYCH calm down lol.

Who has the belt isn't going to restore anything how it is treated will. Cena holding the title makes it look better since WHC has obviously been the 2nd tier belt but some noteworthy feuds and how the challengers and next champions are handled will be key if they want to make the title look better than it has in a while. Regardless really am numb to the whole I'm going to bring such and such title prestige back stuff. Did it to death with the I.C title and U.S title.

Yeah, I always hated the "I'm bringing prestige back" lines whenever they did it to the IC and US titles too because it buried the belt and the other champions, admittedly they did suck but you still don't do that.

And also, Cena didn't say it on air during a show which was my main problem with the IC and US title guys. Really have no problem with what he said, I just doubt much really changes.

I'm sure it is coming though if not from him from the announcers.
