Fwiw I'd just put Jay or swerve as next int champ n the other as world. Idgaf which either lol
My only problem with Swerve getting it is I think that definitely boxes my favorites out. I can’t envision the timeline where Cole and Switch win it anytime soon if Swerve dethrones MJF.

I want Swerve as world champion as he feels like the most compelling villain in AEW atm. Jay was good but Swerve is on another level imo. Have Jay recover from this match by taking the International title OR do well in the CC

I personally would have no problem with Jay being champ. It all really comes down to what's gonna produce the best matches and stories really anyways, and there are very few dudes who I'd realistically have a problem with being champ.
Ya the roster is so stacked there's like 10 viable world champs atm lol

I don't think so. Jay could also win the triple crown. The next reign also won't be a year imo or close

But most of the people criticizing this feud online have criticized the MJF parts of it off it for being too goofy. I enjoyed the feud but the PPV angle I think made Jay White look bad plus plot holes upon plot holes (why did Joe not help, why was cole cleared etc.). Like MJF should always win there imo and it should be the devil or Swerve to beat him
Joe didn't help probably since he did his part of the deal. For the PPV I think I see what they were doing with the angle. Give MJF an underdog win, show his and Cole's bond to keep that storyline alive, but I do think the Ambulance spot, double bait and switch was overdoing it. If The Gunns attacked him after the bell, and MJF didn't go to hospital but was clearly "hurt" going into the main event, then it wouldn't have been as over the top. Be that as it may, I do think Jay White is more than talented enough to recover from the loss and he isn't "buried."

I'm expecting 3-5 world champs in 2024. Hot take

I think it’s more predictable in the other way. Bryan, Cole and Jay have all come in to lose to the current AEW Champion. I feel there’s a better middle ground out there.
Definitely. The former world champion winning sometimes. Unless I read what you said wrong. It seemed like you think a former world champion getting the feud means he should win, which is what I thought would be to predictable. All 3 of those you mentioned, I thought he had a chance to lose.

Bryan I had worry he would beat MJF, and was like maybe 60/40 on MJF winning.

Cole I was honestly 50/50. I thought for sure it’s a good chance Cole with the help of The Kingdom would win.

With Jay, it was the furtherest apart it’s been, as I said 98/2

but that’s more to do with me already thinking ahead to Worlds End, a PPV they surely will wanna build as being the possible last match he has in AEW. Even if they don’t do it like the Punk stuff or do a screw job, it’s still gonna be built as what can be his last match, unless they have him “sign.” Before then. I couldn’t see them passing that up. Now I do believe more maybe he loses at the show, instead of retaining like I have been, so maybe they should have saved Jay til then, but yeah I don’t think you pass up the chance of a if MJF wins he could leave with the title. It kinda helps sales tickets and PPV buys.

Most of the mjf run criticism I seen is ppl rather him be a heel and or the feuds be serious blood feuds. Which is fair even if I disagree vehemently
I actually like his babyface character and I think his Cole stuff should be comedic, but I do think his world title stuff should be serious.

My issue is he should never not defend the AEW world title on PPV if he’s instead defending the tag team titles. I think that’s a bad look.

I also don’t think predicable is bad if it’s best for booking. Never cool off a former world champion just so people don’t see it coming.

Yeah i can get that argument but I also think, Joe you know if MJF loses the title you don't get your shot. And White is a sneaky heel so will duck you. I like the idea of the underdog win. Hell if they just missed out Cole replacing him and the WCW 1991 spot, I don't hate this angle. Jay will recover unless AEW fuck up big time.

I don't like the 2x défenses on ppv either. Once was OK. Not really down anymore

I think he needs to drop down for a bit to rise back up but he will be fine long term imo

NGL I dislike this timeline with my whole chest.

Especially because that’s what 2026 when Jay finally gets it? Lmao

I will say Hanger getting his second from Swerve makes sense, though.
