Maybe, and if so then nevermind my questioning. Just seems odd he was champ and he hadn’t been reupped yet. Not because he’s not trust worthy, but because obviously he’s a huge damn deal to the company and you think he be signed
fwiw I also think he was champ BEFORE his contract lapsed, they just didn't take it off him. He was champ at forbidden door and that was in june. his contract lapsed iirc july or august

who says he did not try to extend him though is more my point. In the podcast Mox simply said it came time to re-sign and he didnt want to commit to a super long time right away in case post rehab went bad. said if things stayed the same hed be here forever and he didnt care if he got paid via envelope each night (his words lol). Then when he realized being sober was awesome he re-upped. I think he is more bringing it up because he's like guys, I obviously do business, i wasnt even contracted and happily lost on ppv with 0 incentive to do so. at least thats how i took it
Yeah all i really have to go off is what I could see as I not took a listen as I just woke up. If there’s any signs they was talking then that’s good. Because Mox isn’t someone they wanna lose.

to add more info, from what I could find. His contract was due to expire in May 2022 but got a few months added since he took time off to get healthy earlier in the year. Which would bring us to mid July. He re-signed in October for 5 years. That would make sense for the "couple of months without a contract" wording in the podcast?

yeah iirc the report back then were " AEW is doing everything they can to ensure John Moxley stay in AEW for the rest of his career" or smth dramatic like that

DTA is a real thing. I don’t care how trustworthy Moxley is, you don’t keep your belt on a guy that’s no longer under contract. It’s really that simple and I can’t understand why anyone is defending Tony’s actions there. As much as I love Tony for his completely awkward behaviour (the guy can’t even drink water without it being funny) he’s in way over his head with the running of the business and should really hire people that know what they’re doing. Those people should also not be sycophants that line up to praise him every chance they get on Twitter, or anywhere else for that matter.

I deal with multi-millionaire trust fund goofs like him on a near daily basis, and they’re all the same. It’s both hilarious and sad at the same time.

Again, nothing against the guy himself, because he seems like an alright dude, but the businessman sucks and he’s a detriment to the long term growth potential of his company.

The way people are reacting to this you'd think Moxley did show up to SummerSlam that weekend after all :lol how was business affected by keeping the belt on Moxley before he'd committed to another long term contract lmao seems much more likely to me they had a short term agreement for dates and if he wasn't feeling it, he probably would have stepped away from the business entirely for a bit, and then...yes the belt would have been taken off of him.

An entirely different situation from Cody being given the TNT title when his contract had expired which I do believe was a blunder on Tony's part from just about every angle of looking at it

its pretty clear to me @Chris the TNT thing was a desperate ploy by TK to sway him to stay. Agree it was poor and the booking suffered. In this case it was a fucking awesome summer of Mox.

also, Fuji, put your AEW and TK hate boner away you fucking weirdo

I don’t see any hate towards TK or AEW in his post

He was just pointing out the business flaws of it and didn’t say anything against AEW at all.

I don’t see it that way but I’ve also talked to Fuji about AEW since it’s began and I know how he feels about it. I think because you don’t know him and your love for AEW you took it way the wrong way
