It depends what you mean by "Rock". If you mean bands like AC/DC, The Foo Fighters, Metallica etc, i would say those bands stated help back up that Rock > Rap.

On the other hand, Kanye West, Young Buck, 50 Cent, Xzibit and others are extremly good rappers, which makes it hard to choose one genre over the other, as those rappers help proove that Rap > Rock.

I enjoy listening to Rap alot more, however I would ratehr be in a rock band then be a rapper.

In conclusion, Avril Lavigne owns them all.

I'll just add my two cents in on this. Most of the rap you hear on the radio is garbage plain and simple. Rap is like any other genre of music you have to take the good with the bad. In EVERY genre of music there is bad but there is also good so deal with it. Personally I'm more into rap and like I said I just don't listen to a lot of what I like to call "Bullshit Rap" I prefer stuff like Eminem, Jay-z, Outkast, Common, Kanye West, Mos Def, Talib Kweli etc. There is good in every music it just takes awhile to find it sometimes.

Common, Kanye West, Mos Def, Talib Kweli.. This is basically what I listen to in terms of rap/hip-hop. And some of the old-school guys, Beastie Boys, Kurtis Blow, Run-DMC, KRS-One.

And of course, the man, the myth, the legend... Del The Funky Homosapien.

Rock/metal I like rock beats mixed with rapping sometimes though and Eazy-E you can't go wrong. But all together Rock is 10 times better then Rap once again as stated its a matter of personal opinion.

Rap=Rock

I love both of them. I like rap alot and theres only a few bands I like.

Rock:
A Perfect Circle
Tool
Nirvana

Rap:
Yung Joc
The Game
Lil Wayne

They are both great, but they are equal. But if I had to choose what I listen to more...its rap.

^^^Now that is a fucking list, that=GOOD its when you get into all of those fucking Young, and Lil's thats where you get into a bunch of fucking dickriding idiots, who are afraid to be original. Who do nothing more than copy everyone else.

Holdon let me put it this way... How many times do u hear people listening to the song P.I.M.P by 50 cent? Never even though back when it came out you would find it coming out of everyones headset.

Now how many people still listen to the song Thunderstruck by AC/dc many many people now that song that was made 17 years ago is still listened to more than a very popular song that was made 4 years ago. Which proves how trendy rap is. People listen to a song for 3 months and they get sick of it.

Rap = Rock

I personally like rap and rock equally. In fact, my favorite bands are a combination of both. RATM and Linkin Park anyone?

^exactly, I listen to rap from 15 years ago, and it doesn't really prove anything, just that a lot of the older stuff is better than the newer stuff. People have been saying rap is a trend for damn near 30 years, and surprise surprise its still around. I can't speak for you but I don't know too many trends that last for 30 years.

Uh.. I could easily counter the original statement by saying this.

How many times do you hear people listening to <Enter some song that used to be hella popular by ANY band>? Never, even though back when it came out you would find it coming out of everyones headset.

Now how many people still listen to the song Straight Outta Compton by N.W.A.? Shitloads of people. The song was released 19 years ago is still listened to more than a very popular song that was made just a few years ago. Which proves how trendy ANYTHING is. People listen to a song for 3 months and they get sick of it.

Your argument = Invalid. Try again. I stick with my original statement of Rock and Rap are equally popular and likable.
