Katharina Harf Hosts the DKMS 5th Annual Gala:

NEW YORK – DKMS, the world’s largest bone marrow donor center, will further its fight against leukemia with the organization’s 5th Annual DKMS Gala on Thursday, April 28th at Cipriani Wall Street in NYC. Katharina Harf, COO of DKMS Americas will present an award to Rihanna in recognition for her tireless work in the fight against leukemia. The event will also honor Michael Clinton, president, marketing & publishing director at Hearst Magazines with the “DKMS-Linked Against Leukemia Award” for fighting cancer and supporting organizations and charities dedicated to the cause.

“Anyone can be affected by leukemia,” said Rihanna. ““It is the number one disease children in the U.S. die of and we can change that. I encourage people to become bone marrow donors with DKMS. If we have more donors, we can save more lives.”

Pharrell Williams will emcee the black tie event which will include an emotional first time leukemia patient and donor meeting, a special Lion King performance in honor of Shannon Tavarez and a performance by Grammy Award winner, Mary J. Blige. All proceeds raised will go directly to registering life-saving bone marrow donors.

New Music: Jennifer Lopez – ‘Hypnotico’

Report to the dance floor. Jennifer Lopez keeps the party going with “Hypnotico,” another club banger produced by RedOne (“On the Floor”) and written by Lady Gaga. The synth-heavy record, which will appear on her seventh album LOVE? (May 3), was originally recorded by dancehall artist Tami Chynn.

“They love me for my body/ I’m original sexy,” sings J.Lo over the bombastic bassline before the chanting chorus kicks in: “All the boys are lovin’ when we do our thing/ We just some silly heartbreakers tonight.”

The “Idol” judge recently spoke to Rolling Stone about collaborating with Gaga. “We didn’t work together face to face. RedOne brought her into the process, because they’d worked together a lot—it was kind of cool,” she said. “She’s a great songwriter. I don’t just love her lyrics, but also her melodies.”

Fall under J.Lo’s hypnotizing spell below.

Rihanna helped to raise $2.5 million for leukemia

Stars galore came out earlier this week under the New York City skyline for the fifth annual DKMS Gala to fight leukemia. The event raised a record $2.5 million, which will go towards registering 40,000 bone marrow donors.

Rihanna was recognized for all her hard work with the cause. The event was hosted by DKMS cofounder Katharina Harf, who lost her mother to leukemia when she was only 14 years old.
“Anyone can be affected by leukemia … It is the number one disease children in the US die of and we can change that. I encourage people to become bone marrow donors with DKMS. If we have more donors, we can save more lives,” Rihanna said. “I would like to dedicate this award to Shannon Tavarez who fought so bravely against this disease but was tragically taken from us far too soon. Shannon was a great inspiration who selflessly promoted awareness of the need for donors, so that others may receive the help they need, and she will be missed.”
DKMS is the largest bone marrow donor center in the world with over 2.7 million registered donors. Help them shoot for 3 million and get swabbed here.

It’s not much, but Rihanna tweeted the first photo from the set of her “California King Bed” video, shot in March in Los Angeles. The red-haired beauty gets in the sheets with a handpicked model in the sexy clip, which was underwritten by skincare brand Nivea, who hired the “S&M” singer as its spokeswoman. According to Rolling Stone, her mentor Jay-Z paid a visit during the shoot.

RiRi also filmed a video for her dark single “Man Down” over the weekend in Portland, Jamaica, with director Anthony Mandler.

Rihanna, rocking a black lace Stella McCartney gown, spoke with “E! News” at Monday’s Met Gala. She explained how her custom-made creation came together and her favorite memory of the late designer Alexander McQueen.

“Lady Gaga at the VMAs, that was definitely a big night for Alexander McQueen in pop music and I love that she pulled out vintage pieces instead of the new, more contemporary stuff,” said the funky fashionista.
