Then there's no reason to be arguing anything at all. I simply said I wanted him to return a gimmick I didn't think he should have abandoned as soon as he did, it didn't need to become a big debate. I still don't see why people think Cena is the only top guy in a 100-year history that didn't need to be cheered by the whole crowd, but that's fine. We disagree. Mania time now.

Because crowd doesn't determine top guy status. They booed him cause it was fun. He was the top draw in his heyday period so therefore top guy.

If he was in the 80s and 90s he’d have been cheered by everyone like Hogan.

You stuck on this “people boo him so he’s not the top guy” schtick and it’s completely wrong. The company used him as the top guy, he WAS a draw(as they advertised his appearances and returns to drum up more views) and he sold like hot cakes.

By ANY metric he WAS the top guy. Just because some people that thought they new better booed him doesn’t change that fact. If he was booed by everyone(like Roman was) you’ll have a point. But that’s simply not the case.

Wrestling isn't a different time. John Cena got over with the gimmick we're literally talking. Daniel Bryan got over. Kofi Kingston got over. CM Punk got over. CM Punk was not only over he was insanely over. This idea that fans will shit on the top guy for being the top guy is nonsense. It just is.

This is literally the only time in history people will defend the booker pushing the guy half the audience couldn't stand and act like Vince McMahon doesn't need to listen to his audience. I should just bang my head against the wall. No other fed in 2019 is pushing a guy getting booed.

Man you suck at reading. The point was he couldn’t keep his gimmick for long, it would have gotten wack fast. His other gimmick kept him over for a decade despite booing.

And no one said they pushed him to get booed. They were smart enough to know the smarks booing was a small portion of the fan base and he was making so much money that it proved he wasn’t hated as much as you seem to think.
