I meant to reply to this thread the day this was posted. I forgot and neglected to. No more...
I was e-mailed this survey, and I participated in it.
I want edgy, "get to the point" storylines. This promo, was a step in the right direction by WWE:
Every Monday, Austin would come out with a different promo, it doesn't always have to be edgy all the time, but at least Austin made it that way. We need someone with that kind of charisma that Austin is known for. It just seems like every time everyone does a promo, they're just doing it for the money. Austin had the right mindset when it comes to customer satisfaction - make the storylines "real" in a sense, and make it edgy sometimes here and there. Austin didn't have to use swear words to describe a man's "banana" (er. balls.) He made a slap to the crotch, as an insult to Vince, for instance. He came out with a beer truck to spray heels, and Angle would do his take on that whole thing with a milk truck because he wasn't taking himself serious.
I even enjoyed the brawl between Austin and Booker in the convenience store. That was creative, and awesome.
WWE did the right things lately, like calling Big Cass, a "Casshole." It was a clever way to say something. Today's WWE Superstars should really look back on the Attitude Era, and really, like take notes... On why the era was so special. And, actually, take mental notes on what NOT to do...
In my opinion, KO's ongoing feud with Shane was well-built, and I liked how they integrated the feud in just about any venue that KO and Shane was on. Whether it was Talking Smack, Whether it was "Fallout," Whether it was in the ring doing a promo, but WWE booking team made KO look like a whimp by going on satellite and apologize for the headbutt to Vince. That was so dumb it's uncessary. It's like whoever fucking wrote that, ignores the fact that WWE is an ENTERTAINMENT company. God, I hate PG WWE so much. FUUUUCK.
It really does not have to be so fucking difficult. Or frustrating.
A lot of people always say what is killing WWE is their PG rating. That's not the case whatsoever.
You remember The Lion King? That movie is rated G, so even lower than PG. Granted, that's a movie and we're talking a weekly episodic series, but it still relates. The Lion King is a story that included a father being killed by his brother; the child's uncle then abusing his mother; and then the uncle gets killed. That's some dark stuff. Sure, it's an animated movie, but that's still a story that was targeted for kids.
That's a bad analogy. The Lion King broached the dark themes of the story as if the kids didn't know better. The reason why Lion King was so good in my opinion was the art direction, and the BEAUTIFUL animation. I can't even get over how beautiful the movie is even to this day. And it's a fucking Disney film. I say the same thing for Aladdin and the sequels. I didn't care about the story in any of them... I honestly didn't. I just watched them to be in awe of the art, and the animation. That's it.
