WWE RAW 2nd May 2011 - The Rock's Birthday LIVE Discussion Thread

Alberto Del Rio is out to do commentary.

Tag team action now with Rey Mysterio and Kofi Kingston teaming together to take on Jack Swagger and Drew McIntyre.

 

[Chase]

So we got a tag team match with Rey Mysterio and Kofi vs Swagger and Drew Mcyintire. My computer is dying so this my last post here tonight. Will be back to give final thoughts on Raw.

 

[ants]

This is what really annoys me. We get the four blokes from Smackdown in a tag match against one another, and another guy from Smackdown out on commentary. Isn't the whole point of the draft to shake things up and so we get to see different feuds?

Anyway, hopefully the last half hour gives me something because this is only the second match and theres 24 minutes to go.

 

[Troy]

I guess it is their way of showcasing these new draft picks.

Mysterio gets the pin after a 619 and a splash from the top rope. Del Rio tries to get in the ring after the match but Mysterio drop kicks him off the apron. Looks like we will see another Mysterio/Del Rio feud.

 

[Troy]

Christian is backstage, with the title, at The Rock's party talking to The Rock.

Vickie and Dolph give The Rock a cake and Mae Young appears and The Rock kisses Mae.

Cena appears and offers Rock a gift, the WWE championship. Cena says that he will hold it until WM28 and so their match will be for the title.

10 minutes left in the show. One more match?

 

[Troy]

Kane vs Mason Ryan is announced. Why not Big Show since Kane is a Smackdown wrestler?

Odd mainevent.

 

[Troy]

Nexus come out and attack Kane causing the DQ. Kane goes for the chokeslam on Mason Ryan but Ryan shows his strength and pushes the hand away and hits a version of the rock bottom on Kane. Big Show comes out but Ryan takes him down as well. Looks like we will see a tag team feud with ShowKane and Nexus.

Mason Ryan is a beast, that was a sick GORE. Looks like he could go solo here; I hope he does. He could easily be the next Batista, just needs to get the right push and such with CM Punk possibly leaving. Give Ryan the trigger, Vince likes big guys and he can wrestle and it was a decent match between him and Kane.

 

[Troy]

Good video on Christian winning the World Heavyweight Title.

The Rock now comes out to the ring to finish the show.

It did look awesome when he hit that on Show. Like you said it does look like Mason Ryan will go out on his own from now on.

Vince McMahon has come out and is talking about The Rock.

What will he announce?

Vince just says thanks for coming home and they show a fantastic video of The Rock. Massive Rocky chants.

Mya singing happy birthday to The Rock.

 

[Troy]

The Rock says thankyou then tonnes of streamers and balloons drop from the ceiling. WWE set off a lot of pyro and that ends the show.

Nice that they just let the show end like that rather than having someone interrupting him.

The Rock just proves again and again that he is one of the greatest of all time.

 

[Lucky]

Raw was pretty decent despite the real lack of any wrestling going on tonight haha.

The WWE championship match had the most excitement of the night, I just can't believe Mason Ryan v Kane was the main event is all.

Decent Raw none the less. I did not expect a lot of ring action because of The Rock's bday, but nice show produce by WWE surprised the WWE championship match was really good. I bet we can expect more build up to Over the Limit next weeks Raw, but good show WWE despite lack of in ring action.
