The Halloween episode of WWE Main Event drew a 0.7 cable rating with 1.21 million viewers.

Since Main Event began airing on Ion, it has been averaging a 0.9 rating with 1.46 million viewers - already beating TNA's Impact Wrestling. Ion usually averages a 0.6 in primetime.

-----

WWE's Saturday Morning Slam show is averaging a 0.7 cable rating with 1.10 million viewers each week, which are very good numbers for a Saturday show.

Wrestling News Observer
Also to be noted is that they are both the highest rated programs on their block as Main Event has been beating the new and final season of Flashpoint which was Ions standard, and SMS has been beating DBZ Kai which was Toonzais highest rated Saturday morning block show throughout the blocks existence.

So with this news would you call these two shows a success unlike Superstars and NxT?

Didn't Superstars and NXT have good ratings when they first started?

SMS anyways, has the established viewership of children who dont change the channel at all durring their saturday morning cartoons. I would have expected that the ratings there would be even higher.

No idea about Main Event, but it sounds like it would have more viewers if it was available in more regions.

It has to be considered a success so far, the challenge will be maintaining these ratings. The key for the Main Event program is ensuring that the quality of wrestlers on the show remains high. What killed Superstars was because it turned into jobber city when early on it had most of the big names on it. WWE are getting quite close to their goal of having a show on every day.

I think the goal with the top names on Superstars was to get the ball rolling, give it some kind of credibility but I think it was always meant for the people not getting any time.

Seems like both shows are doing pretty good considering that where they are and such is usually a tough one.

But by taking away those top stars they lost the tv deal, WWE can't make that same mistake this time. Not saying that they need a Punk or Cena on each show but using guys like Team Friendship as a headliner works because they are big enough names. Plus having regular title matches and important matches like that on the show keeps the interest there.

You don't need huge names though. Not for the concept of Superstars. It's the perfect place to just have wrestling matches. Don't need a big name who everybody would expect to talk a lot.

But that is why Superstars failed and why it no longer airs. It no longer featured big names, the ratings then dropped and then the network dropped the show.
