Being known by wrestling fans does not make one iconic though Sox. Transcending into the Mainstream makes you iconic.

WWE is mainstream Stop. Everyone has watched wrestling at one point.

No WWE is not mainstream. If it was mainstream it would have much higher ratings than it has and would draw even bigger crowds than it does. At one point WWE was mainstream since people talked about it openly and shared this interest with everyone, wearing shirts and other merch in the open. Wrestlers were on mainstream news media and shows regularly to promote the product and were taken as serious athletes.

At the moment WWE is nothing but a subculture, the wrestling promotion closest to being mainstream but it is far from it. Pro wrestlers are almost never on talkshows or news shows regularly anymore and you have yourself stated that wearing a wrestling shirt out in public is un cool. That makes it non-mainstream.

Everyone in the US probably has watched wrestling at one point but if it were mainstream then everyone or a wast majority of the populous would watch it regularly as with mainstream sports like football, baseball and hockey. WWE has lost that status long long ago.

I think WWE would technically count as mainstream entertainment, really ever since the 1980's during the WWF's national expansion. It's not as popular as it used to be, but everyone knows about it and it has millions and millions of fans worldwide. And Vince is technically the most successful promoter of modern times, maybe ever.

WWE being mainstream is why it hasn't died out with it's shit product. I'm sure people would love watching it if it was good. But why watch something that's bad.

So yeah, WWE is mainstream but it's shitty right now.

WWE hasn't died out because it is owned by one of the richest men on the planet. Wrestling like most industries goes through highs and lows. WWE makes enough money even on a shitty product to carry it through the lows without much backlash.

Spot on. Liked.

Stephan this promo explains it all; IMO it's the best ever promo in a WWE arena.
