Surprised Rock isn't there yet also tbh.

Yep, he should be taking this spot as #5 with Hogan as #4 (IMO), regardless, Austin, HBK, Undertaker, Hogan and Rock should be in the top 5, or even Bret, Savage, Flair. They're all above Kane, again, IMO.

LOL you really want to start this? Rock couldn't work as well as Austin, see matches Vs Bret at SVS and WM 13, Vs Dude Love at OTE 98, SCSA and HHH vs Jericho and Benoit, Angle Summerslam 2001 and Dustin Rhodes at Clash of the champions for the US title in WCW. The charisma is closer, rock may even edge it however Rock was very catch phrase reliant, whilst Austin could cut a promo using very little for a cheap pop.

Great post, liked.

I would love to watch those matches, too bad they're all like 200p or something.

And the only reason for that is because of Austin's bad ass gimmick combined with the fact that he was a common guy.

Learn to love the low quality, it still blows most away plus you can probably find a few which have been remastered for DVDs.

This wasn't in the Stone Cold gimmick, yet he showed ability to control tempo, tone and deliver clearly whilst selling himself. He improved alot from this work but you can see it's not the gimmick which makes his mic skills, his mic skills make the gimmick.

I think Rock was actually underrated in the ring. When they were in their Rock/Stone Cold characters, I could probably think of just as many (probably more) great Rock matches as I could Austin matches. Just look at the opponents that Austin had in pretty much all the matches you listed, they were almost always great workers or great technical wrestlers. With the exception of Dude Love but that was a great brawl, not exactly something that Rock couldn't pull off. I've never seen the Dusty Rhodes match.

Another thing I forgot to say. Rock is an entertainer 1st and wrestler 2nd. Whilst Austin is a wrestler 1st entertainer 2nd. So he would have better matches. But being a great wrestler isn't something Rock has ever been/aspired to be.

Oh and this poll is absolutely worthless now Kane is number 4. Seriously him even being in the top 10 makes it lose pretty much all of it's credibility.

I think it's common knowledge that before the injury Austin was considered a great worker, not just a good worker for the position he was in, but a great worker regardless of the position he was in. He was just an all round great wrestler. You could never say the same about Rock, whether you think he's underrated or not. Not even hardcore Rock marks compare Rock's ring work to Austin's.

IMO kane could have been huge if he didn't become a jobber.

if Taker is #1 Kane definitely deserves to be in top 10

I don't see it at all. Undertaker is one of the best big match in-ring workers of all time if not THE best. When was the last time Kane had a really great match? Also the Undertaker had charisma in abundance, Kane not so much. The reason Kane became a jobber is because he wasn't that entertaining.
