It was a move that we used to see every week but rarely see on WWE TV these days. WWE Champion CM Punk reportedly bladed on this week's RAW in the steel cage match against Jerry Lawler. Punk appeared to gig his forehead before returning to the cage a second time and then appeared to hand the blade off to referee Charles Robinson.

At best we can tell, there has been no fallout backstage - meaning Punk has more power than imagined or he successfully argued that he did not blade and that it was a hardway cut. Blading is absolutely prohibited in WWE these days.
Will have to watch the match again and look closely because at the time I just figured he was bust open the hard way. He may have a significant amount of power these days but I wouldn't expect him to push it and blade given it's prohibited. Also, I know the majority of us want to see blood being brought back in matches like the cage, HIAC etc but I really wouldn't expect him to want to blade against a non threat like Lawler even if it is a cage match.

There was no need to do it. If he'd be facing someone like Kane, The Big Show or even Cena, I won't be surprised he wanted to make things more interesting for people but this way? Seriously, no need to do it.

I didn't see the blade as well and I was wondering how CM Punk began bleeding.

Don't know why he made it so obvious, better workers know how to hide the blade.

Nice to see more speculation about Punks stroke, something that I have been making uneducated guess' about for months. Nice to see these sites get their news the same way I do.............by pulling it out of their head.

So unnecessary, that's all that I have to say.

Am I the only one who has interest in ever seeing blood?

For the most brutal of grudge matches, I can perhaps understand why. Certainly not for something like this, though.

A few of Punk's latest tweets:

The staples are fake too. http://pic.twitter.com/CZXRRzhk

I paid Charles Robinsons fine. #respect

And yes, I have more power than you could possibly imagine.

500k fine. Drop in the bucket. Bucket of blood!

I don't need to see blood, but I do think it's needed on occasions though as it can definitely add to the drama of a match.

Punk could be acting sarcastic given how much he does in his tweets but idk. Guess he figured he'd make the match standout in some kind of way

Thing is though, that big gash on his head which has been stapled isn't a result from blading unless he's absolutely god awful at blading.

Yeah thinking about it usually blading happens on your forehead and usually require staples. Plus I doubt you get 500 k fine for doing that so on 2nd thought yeah he's probably just being sarcastic and got cut the hard way.

Well if this was Punk's way to making the match more watchable, it really didn't work. It still was just a dull fight.

Also I think blading is unnecessary all together. If some gets opened the hard way, I'm all for it. Other than that I don't support sharp objects either like forks used by opponents either or people like Mr. Pogo carving people's arms. If you want that stuff, you might be a pretty trashy individual.

If he did blade I didn't mean he did it to make the match more watchable but to get it talked about cause of how rare blood is nowadays which if so it has worked. Think he's just working the internet with his tweets though.

PHX, I really wasn't responding to any one person here. I just skimmed the thread and posted by thoughts on the report.

I also enjoy taking shots at Mr. Pogo.

Re: WWE Champion CM Punk Reportedly Pulls a Blade Job on RAW, No Backstage Fallout Ye

Can't see why he'd do this on Raw against Jerry Lawler of all people.

As far as blading goes, don't think it's necessary at all, it doesn't do much to, but I'm completely okay with it in certain circumstances, but it needs to be rare and saved for big matches.
