ZACK RYDER(C) VS SHINSUKE NAKAMURA
At the Money in the Bank ppv, Friday Night Smackdown newcomer Zack Ryder challenged for the WWE United States Championship. It looked like then champion Shinsuke Nakamura(c) would retain the title. However a debuting Chelsea Green caused a distraction which led to Ryder getting the win and the title.

Nakamura went to SD GM Paige and asked her to have his rematch at Stomping Grounds. But wanted a steel cage match so that Green couldn't interfere and she agreed.

ROMAN REIGNS & THE USO'S VS SANITY WITH NIKKI CROSS
Both the leader of SaNiTy aka Eric Young and Roman Reigns took part in the Men's MITB Ladder match but both men failed to win the briefcase. Young seemed to blame Reigns the most for his loss so he and his stablemates set their sights on him

. Although Reigns didn't have to wait to long to get some back up in the form of his cousins/nephews the Uso's. SD GM Paige announced a six man tag team match for Stomping Grounds and noted that the WWE SD Tag Team Championship would not be on the line. ​

WWE STOMPING GROUNDS
The WWE Stomping Grounds 2019 pay per view began with a six man tag team match which saw the trio of Roman Reigns and the Uso's. Take on the trio of Eric Young and the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champions Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain aka SaNiTy. Jimmy Uso got the win for his team by pinning Wolfe with a Super Kick.

Next WWE United States Champion Zack Ryder(c) went one on one with the former champion Shinsuke Nakamura inside a steel cage. Nakamura had asked for the steel cage stipulation because he thought it would keep Chelsea Green at bay and he was right. It wasn't enough as Erick Rowan came down to the ring and ripped the door off of the cage. Which distracted Nakamura and allowed Ryder to escape the cage.

In the third match of the night the WWE RAW Tag Team Championship was on the line as the current champions Breezango(c). Defended against two Undisputed Era members in the duo of Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly. O'Reilly got the pin on Tyler Breeze after he and Fish hit Chasing the Dragon.

After that Rhea Ripley VS Asuka II for the WWE Smackdown Women's Championship took place with the roles of champion and challenger reversed. It ended with Ripley retaining by way of the Riptide.

The fifth match was for the WWE Intercontinental Championship and saw Drew McIntyre(c) attempt to defend against Roderick Strong. And we had yet another championship change hands as Strong hit the Strong Driver aka the Gibson Driver for the win.

Next in the penultimate match of the event saw another six man tag team match take place. This time around the current WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins(c) teamed with both Ricochet and Sami Zayn. To take on the Balor Club represented by Finn Balor, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows with Paul Heyman in their corner. When it was all said and done Balor pinned Rollins with a Bloody Sunday fka 1916.

Finally the show closed out with a one on one match for the WWE Championship, between Kofi Kingston(c) and The Miz. As the main event reached it's conclusion, Randy Orton made an appearance and tried to interject himself into the match. Only to be stopped by the other members of the New Day, which led to Kingston capitalizing on the situation and hit the Trouble in Paradise on Miz for the win.

WWE UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP VS BALOR CLUB'S FUTURE
SETH ROLLINS(C) VS FINN BALOR
The first match announced for the WWE Great American Bash ppv event revolved around the WWE Universal Championship. And it was also about the heated back and forth rivalry between Finn Balor and the current champion Seth Rollins(c). A shot recap Rollins beat Balor for the title at WrestleMania then the rematch took place at Money in the Bank.

It ended in a no contest when the Good Brothers interfered and helped Balor beat Rollins down. At Stomping Grounds, Balor Club beat the trio of Rollins, Ricochet and Sami Zayn with Balor pinning Rollins. The rematch for the title was scheduled for Great American Bash, but RAW GM Kurt Angle added that if Balor loses. Then the group known as Balor Club would have to disband permantally.​

Going into the Great American Bash pay per view the current reigning and defending WWE Champion Kofi Kingston. Found himself a new challenger in the form of the "Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe. Who beat both John Cena and Randy Orton in a triple threat match to earn the title shot.​

SANITY WITH NIKKI CROSS(C) VS THE USO'S
At Stomping Grounds the Uso's teamed up with Roman Reigns to take on and defeat the group known as SaNiTy in a six man tag team match. It would be Jimmy Uso who ended up pinning one half of the current WWE SD Tag Team Champions Alexander Wolfe to get the win.

Friday Night Smackdown GM Paige thought this was good enough for the Uso's to get a title match and confirmed it for Great American Bash

Like the above match this one on one match between the duo of the leader of SaNiTy aka Eric Young and Roman Reigns. Was made official for the Great American Bash ppv as a direct result of the six man tag team match at Stomping Grounds. ​

RAW GM Kurt Angle announced that a four way match would take place at the Great American Bash ppv. This wouldn't be just a regular four way match as the winner of the match would be able to call themselves the N1C to the WWE Universal Championship. Angle revealed that the quartet of AJ Styles, Andrade, Bobby Lashley and Daniel Bryan would take part in the match

On an episode of Monday Night RAW the quartet of Buddy Murphy, Cedric Alexander, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Faced off in a four way match to crown the next challenger for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. It would be Murphy who got the win after he pinned Alexander with Murphy's Law.
