NXT TAKEOVER PHOENIX
The event began with a one on one match men’s division match between Aleister Black and Chris Hero. When it was all said and done, it would be the former aka Black who stood tall. As he ducked an attempted move from Hero and damn near took his head off with the Fade to Black for the win.

Next the “One & Only” Ricochet(c) attempted to defend the NXT International Championship, against the “Top One Percent” EC3. Ultimately the challenger aka EC3 would fail in this particular attempt at claiming gold. As Ricochet took him down first with a Codebreaker and then followed it up with the 630 Splash off the top rope for the win.

In the third match the duo of Hanson and Rowe aka War Machine took the fight to the current NXT Tag Team Champions the Undisputed Era(c). The monstrous duo of challengers would isolate Bobby Fish and lay him out with the Fallout with Rowe getting the pin.

After that the penultimate match saw the NXT Women’s Championship on the line. As Shanya Baszler(c) attempted to defend against the “Scottish Sociopath” Nikki Cross. Baszler trapped her opponent in the Kirifuda Clutch and Cross chose to pass out in the hold rather than submit.

Finally the show closed out with the one on one match for the NXT Championship. As the current and defending champion Tommaso Ciampa(c) faced off with the challenger and leader of the Undisputed Era, Adam Cole. Despite interference from the other members of the UE and Cole bending the rules. It would be Ciampa who walked out as NXT Champion as he put his opponent down with the Fairy Tale Ending

• The Good Brothers beat The Bar(c) via the Magic Killer on Sheamus to win the WWE World Tag Team Championship
• A video package showed superstars from MNR and FNS picking their numbers for the Royal Rumble matches.
• Samoa Joe beat Rusev with Lana(c) via the Muscle Buster to become the new WWE USC.
• NXT GM William Regal made an appearance to reveal that several NXT superstars are going to take part in both Rumbles.
• Dean Ambrose & Gloriously Gable(c) beat Seth Rollins & Breezango. Ambrose got the win for his team by hitting Dirty Deeds on Rollins. To retain both the WWE Intercontinental & WWE Universal Tag Team Championship.
• Aiden English and Tom Phillips thanked the WWE Universe for joining them.

• The duo of Cole and English discussed the match and gave their respective thoughts about it.
• The Good Brothers(c) beat the Bar in a 2 Out of 3 Falls Match. To remain the WWE World Tag Team Champions. They won the first and third falls of the match.
• The duo of Cole and English discussed the match and gave their respective thoughts about it. And then thanked the WWE Universe for joining them and that they hoped they would enjoy the ppv.

As at one point they were the best of friends and as thick as thieves, they were even tag team partners in DIY. That was a long time ago as the reigning and defending NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa prepared to go face to face with Johnny Gargano.​

NXT GM William Regal announced that Shayna Baszler(c) aka the current holder of the NXT Women’s Championship. Would defend the title in a fatal four way at NXT TakeOver: New York. In the lead up to the event Dakota Kai beat Bianca Belair, Deonna Purrazzo beat Candice LeRae. Finally on the go home edition of NXT, Kairi Sane beat Io Shirai to earn the final spot in the match.​
