The first title match announced for the 2019 WWE Royal Rumble pay per view event was for the WWE Universal Championship. It was a one on one men’s division match between the reigning and defending champion Roman Reigns(c) and the challenger Finn Balor. The challenger aka Balor won a fatal four way match on an episode of Monday Night RAW.​

On an episode of Friday Night Smackdown the trio of Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Naomi took place. The winner of the match would be the next in line for a shot at the World Women’s Championship. Flair got the win in the above mention match when she pinned Lynch with Natural Selection.​

The second match announced for the Kickoff Show of the 2019 Royal Rumble pay per view. Was a men’s division tag team match for the WWE World Tag Team Championship.
