Yeah I agree with a lot of that. The only thing I will say is that the likes of Austin and Foley knew how to do a lot while seeming to not do much, they were much better sellers and masters of psyicogly than many of todays stars. Don't think wrestling is the problem right now, it is about the storylines, angles, characters and making lesser titles more important again. These are the things WWE need to focus on.

This isn't directed at you but in general. A lot of people fail to realize the IC title meant nothing after early 98. It was a hot potato all of 99.

So true, before Jarrett won the title in May of '99, Venis, Godfather, Road Dogg, Goldust, and Shamrock all held it, probably more, but some of those were like two week, irrelevant reigns. '98 though was like the IC titles best year, Rock and HHH feuding over it and having some epic matches.

The IC title died after taht horrible Jericho/Chyna/Bob Holly feud.

I actually think it was before that. It died when Val won it at the St. Valentines Massacre PPV I believe. I could be wrong on that, but I know he won it sometime around February. It the two months that followed, there was like 6 different title changes, all forgettable until Jarrett won it after the Over the Edge PPV from Godfather. He hardly did much with the title except for the feud with Chyna that was pretty good, but the Chyna/Jericho feud was pretty bad because they kept trying to make the fans boo Jericho despite him being mad over, so they made him appear crazy, try to kill Chyna with a hammer, then they became best friends. It wasn't the brightest booking.

Once again this was Russio's cluesless booking for you, he did the same in WCW with the world title. I agree with Scott and would actually say that the IC Title was most credible in the late 80s (Rude, Perfect, Warrior) and early 90s (Hart, Perfect, Michaels).

I was never a huge fan of the Attitude Era. I enjoyed the Brock Lesnar 2003-2004 type of run. Didn't mind watching evolution either.

Yeah, Russo booking even sucked in the Attitude Era, it was the characters that made it. Without Austin, Mankind, 'Taker, etc. Russo would never even be able to try and take credit for the Attitude Era like he does.

I started watching around '04, so I have a question for you veterans. Was it just me, or did the attitude era lack 'powerhouses'? Looking back, you had Kane and 'Taker, Viscera was nothing but a midcarder, and Kevin Nash entered right after everything wen't down. I would not call HHH a powerhouse because he had a physique, not brute strength. When I started we had Batista, Brock, Big Show, Goldberg, etc.

I swear Test wasn't that heavily involved in the Attitude Era. Tensai, or Prince or Albert where jobbers. Farooq was a bit chubby, can't really call him a powerhouse, likewise with Bradshaw. JBL in 2005 was.. wow though.

Test almost married Stephanie, he was pushed pretty good in '99. I'd definitely call Bradshaw a powerhouse, along with Farooq, they may not look it, but in the ring they were.

You had Taker the entire time, Mankind and Vader as well as Kane, and then Show toward the end, So a fair share of them.
