Bossman died in '00 I believe, so.. I don't think he'd count, which is shame. I found Mankind's gimmick more or less some multi personality disorder victim who's humorous yet psychotic. Like the Undertaker, mind games type of guy.

He was relevant towards the beginning, then just a bit for The Oddities, but they sucked.

I would like to include the year 1997 in that. 1997-2000 was the best years for WWE. It was the rise of the most popular guys in the company's history (Austin, Rock, Foley, Triple H, Taker), you still had HBK and Bret albeit not very long, including Montreal which shook up the business quite a bit and viewership was at an all-time high. It was great being a kid during the Attitude Era, it really was. I highly doubt the kids of this generation are as invested into the current product as we were during that time. Guys like Austin, Rock and Foley were just polarizing and The Undertaker was at his most evil during that time. Great time to be a wrestling fan.

97-00 was it. The gimmicks were so popular that it was cool to wear those shirts out in public and people knew who Austin and The Rock were including their catch phrases. Now you don't get much praise about the new shirts that are out.

This is probably going to sound stupid, but I would call '97 more the prologue to he Attitude Era. If it weren't for Austin, Hart, and Taker it probably would have sucked. Anything not involving those guys usually I'd suck. I'd also. Call 2001 the epilogue, but the true Attitude Era in my mind is 1998-2000.

I agree WWE has been on a downward slide lately. However, this is not because of the fault of the wrestlers. It seems to be more of the fault of the lack of creative juices actually coming from the higher ups.
