BTW. A suggestion. Can we please avoid posting videos directly in the thread? The thread could risk turning into lag city otherwise. If you want to link to a match you can embed the link directly into text instead.

Ive never given Japanese wrestling a go, but i plan to sometime soon
It's a variety show of a scene. There are companies for every taste. There are high level hardcore companies, comedy companies. Companies that present themselves a bit more straight forward than WWE (less wacky angles), and even companies that hold their shows at strip clubs.

There's something for everyone

Match: reDRagon & Dalton Castle vs. Bullet Club
Date and Show: ROH Wrestling TV - 12/17/16
Promotion: ROH
Star Rating: **
Analysis: This match was pure chaos. The crowd was going crazy. The action was intense. It was a great match to sit down, and just enjoy. But my main problem with the match was the systematic destruction of reDRagon and Castle, until the last few minutes. Was just an out-of-nowhere submission. Would've been better if it was equally distributed. I recommend you watch, if you're just looking to kill some time.

So you describe the match as entertaining with the crowd going crazy etc etc but you disliked it as it was a somewhat burial of ReDRagon and Dalton Castle and I take from this that it is awful when you are trying to believe in them long term. Would you say the match is way better when you take it at face value or even if you overlook that issue its still nothing more than below average?

I'm saying that if you don't really care about the storylines and just want a good old fashioned spot fest (albeit an entertaining one ngl) it's an okay match to sit down and watch, but if you care about the storylines and want to get entrenched in the angles, then you can see that it wasn't the greatest portrayal of the new champion, or of the other 2 contenders for the belt.

I see, is this frequent in ROH? because I've heard a lot of complaints about Delirious' booking and how ROH is dropping in quality.

He books in the long-term. I mean Jay Lethal is a major example of this, but I do think ROH has deviaed from it's "pure wrestling" roots, but I don't attribute that to ROH not caring about it, as much as breaking into the higher levels of the market will require a much more story based environment. I'm not 100%, I watch major PPVs and episodes that have matches I'm really interested in, so take my view on this with a grain of salt.

Has ROH succeeded in that? They were on the rise when I stopped watching iN December 2013.

They landed a major PPV deal, expanding their TV output, and are turning a good profit. So I assume they have.

That is a positive at least but then the negative side is if you turn your back on your hardcore fans then who is left when the casual market is dying.

I'm going to put 500 as my goal. I am getting a late start but I easily watch way more than 500 matches in a year, so I have no doubt I'll do just fine here.

So my first match is Kento Miyahara vs Suwama. This took place on November 27, 2016 at the All Japan Pro Wrestling event New Explosion

I am rating this match **** This was a really good match. It started a little slow in my opinion, which was my only problem with it. Other than that, it was a nice hard hitting match. It got really intense towards the end with some really hard strikes and quite a few near falls. Definitely a match worth watching.
