-- Gus Ramsey, a reporter for ESPN, stated on his Twitter account Wednesday that WrestleMania XXVIIIgarnered 1.9 million pay-per-view buys.

"accidentally deleted my earlier tweet. Rock and Brock each sign 1 year deals. WM28 did 1.9M buys. WWE was targeting 1.5M," he wrote.

Wow, just wow at Rock/Cena

Wonder where that ranks among all time mania buys. Has to be an all time record for them.

I can see Vince chicken strutting if the number is true. Likewise I can see HHH telling the boys in the back man fuck your feelings lol, especially since he, Taker, and Shawn are likely 3-5 on the pay scale for that night.

And if it is true, Rock and Brock for the title is the only way to challenge that number next year

I'm amazed that the attitude era mania buyrates weren't higher. Insane how much it killed the past mania buyrates. I see WWE trying to do more long term booking if this is the result.

Over 850,000 more buys than last years WM is always a positive sign. It should be interesting to see how many buys WM 29 does next year now. Can they beat 1.9 million buys? Or will it just not generate people's interest? time will tell

I dont think they can. Heres the difference: Rock brings people from the 90s back in. If the plan is Cena/Lesnar, then there will be no way that match can pull that much publicity. Rock brought people form Hollywood, 90s, early 2000s and much more. Brock was only in WWE for a short period and didnt have even half the success Rock had.

But Brock will bring in UFC fans as well, you gotta remember that.

He will draw them at first. But if they don't play him right, they will drop off. WWE has to be careful what they do between here and next Mania.

I don't think he will honestly. UFC fans are super douchebags and probably won't turn into the "gay and fake sport" of WWE for anything.

I think it's much too early to call the buyrate, 1.9m is prob an estimate. I'd assume it would be a tad lower.

It was an amazing Wrestlemania, save for the first matches that sucked, it was a great show. I think if it weren't for the shitty music, they'd probably have done better.

That's an amazing buyrate if it's true, but I doubt that's right. Like Austin 3:16 said, it's too early, more than likely just an estimate. Wouldn't surprise me if it was this high though, I haven't been this hyped for a 'Mania in a while, and the show definitely didn't disappoint.

Amazing number if true. Hope the final number ends up being somewhere close.
