Last Jedi has to be in the discussion. They buried Luke fucking Skywalker to put Rey over. Just awful. That movie made me give up on the entire franchise, and I don't even enjoy the originals as much as I used to because of it.

Pretty much. I think the casting was fine, it just wasn't going to be anywhere close to the original and the writing really failed the movie on so many levels. But even if the writing was halfway decent and the Ghostbusters reboot was a "decent" film instead of below-average, people probably still would have complained about it.
