Thanks for the few of you who took the time to leave predictions, much appreciated. I enjoyed writing this one a lot more than the first PPV so hoping that shows in terms of quality. Due to the expansive nature of my backstory, I've deliberately started things off somewhat slow here with not too many in depth angles and moving parts. That will slowly start to change post this show, so let's see how it all pans out. Anyway, hope you all enjoy.

Seeing as I'm jumping in fresh to this project and it's a PPV, I'll do a different type of review than what I plan on doing for weeklies around the section. I've followed plenty of your stuff before and think you're a smashing booker so really looking forward to this.

TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Venis/Kidman/Regal
What a great trio that I did NOT expect together lol. Venis as the Television Champion is somewhat surprising to me as I always kind of considered it to be a bit of a work-rate title and that's not something I necessarily associate with Big Val - though I do like him. Regal targeting the injured limb is very on point and I like the big plancha spot from Kidman to basically remind the feuding Venis/Regal that this IS a three-way. Nice little plot of "going to the top rope=bad" going on before Val eventually lands The Money Shot. Kidman's facebuster counter to Regal is great imagery. Venis steals the win from Regal in a fun closing finish. I liked what was going on here but despite being the champion and the winner, I felt like Venis was kind of the odd man out here.

Buff/Steiner vs The Dudleyz
From the word go, I'd predict a Dudleyz win here but Steiner was honestly the highlight with his fat person abuse in the early goings. The tag expertise of The Dudleyz shines through against the power tandem of Steiner and Buff. I think Buff taking the fall here was probably the right move. In 2000, I still think Steiner can be a really good player for a few years... I'm not as sold/convinced on Buff. Think this tandem is fine and likely quite fun given Steiner's antics but I'd be pushing The Dudleyz here every day of the week. - Also fun to see the TLC trio in a WCW dressing.

Guerrero/Noble
Now this is a match I can really get behind. Appreciate the setting for the uninitiated of Eddie as heel and Noble as revenge-seeking face. Love Noble's tenacity before Eddie ... uhm ... bends the rules? ... to get his advantage. Great heel work to focus on the injured neck/head area and also quite brutal when you think about the fragility of the targetted area. Love Noble no-selling the crowd's pop as he is just focused on hurting Eddie as much as possible. Eddie utilizing Noble's attire is super clever and a lovely little bit of sub-plotting in this match. The near-fall exchange sequence was hype and I bought two of the attempted finishers fully before being popped it was countered. The finish was a nice callback to what started off this feud. I probably would have put Eddie over myself but I think Noble has potential going forward, a few big wins should set him back on course and I honestly think you could do a lot worse than having Noble somewhat prominent.

US CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Angle/Booker/Malenko
Appreciate the video package. "DON'T IGNORE ME" lmfao. I love this era of Angle. Playing possum to draw the outside dive is actually a great little spot... one I don't recall seeing too often now that I think about it. Scissors Kick/German/Angle Slam countered into Book-End sequence was hot. Nice showing for Angle kicking out of that. Good use of the three-way stip to have finishers NOT be the finish. The belly-to-belly counter out of the Texas Cloverleaf is a GREAT spot. Angle getting too cocky and lit up would've been an awesome pop moment. WOW! Booker wins! Was not expecting that. I loved the tenacity of Eddie/Noble but I think this has probably been the MOTN so far.

-unique is an understatement ... flair/ddp/benoit is WILD-

TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
E&C/The Hardy Boyz
I mean this is a combination that just can't go wrong. Cool seeing it in WCW though. Edge spearing Hardy mid-roadrunner clothesline is pretty sick. E & C are such dicks, loved them robbing Poetry in Motion and then taunting The Hardy Boyz. Was really willing the hot tag to Matt after that. BIG KICKOUT from Matt following the crotching and reverse DDT from the top rope - that's pretty sick, right? Does anyone do that irl? I think that could be a pretty sick finisher. Double Whisper in the Wind another sweet spot. Springboard triangle plancha is such a bomb move from Christian lol. Jesus the next few spots are electric and I popped at the Swanton Bomb. This has become my new MOTN. Super super run of three excellent matches in a row here. Really riveting middle section of the PPV.

-RAVEN/VADER MYSTIQUE!-

but fr, cool to see the whc have a leader ... unusual set up but I dig.

CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Kaz/Juventud
I'd say the crowd would be fucking beat at this point! But imo that's a good complaint, lol! I liked the story here and it stood out from the other cruiserweight match with CIMA helping Kaz and Kaz being very ring-aware. Juvi probably looks the better of the two but Kaz is just craftier.

6-MAN TAG
Seeing these trios teams is really something, some very unique pairings. I think we needed a match like this to break things up some. Dickhead Hollywood refusing to tag in until they're on top and then trying to leave immediately once the tide turns is lol. Oh! Raven is in control of Hogan? Aight, gonna wanna go back and check that angle out for sure. Hogan applying the sloppy sharpshooter has me big time lol'ing. Steiner/DDP nicely progressed in this one too, and it was the only interference I noticed on the show so it was super impactful imo. I sense Benoit/Raven is going to be one of the future HUGE feuds. Fucking Hogan getting the W on PPV lmfao. Love it. Wait, Steiner is Flock too? And Henning? AND VADER!? Raven's on a powertrip fr.

WHC MAIN EVENT
Really dug the comms dialogue, video package, split screen. Properly felt like a main event and a meeting of two unstoppable forces. I also think this feels different to everything else we have had on the show. I actually thought this was going to be clean but Raven in a Sting match was beautiful. Love spots like that. Raven is very clearly the top heel in this BTB in my mind. Both men ended up looking like beasts and I really thought Goldberg would take it to set up Raven/Goldberg but there's so much more to be done with this story. Interested to see where you go with Goldberg from here and Vader still as champ w/Raven clearly eyeing it for himself is a story thread that can be tugged at in the coming months.

I find PPV's sometimes hard to review but I got a lot out of this, Stojy. I really enjoyed this PPV and am looking forward to following the weeklies going forward. Super effort and congrats on the - from what I can see - very well-deserved BTBOTM. The cynic in me would say the middle section was a LOT for a crowd but as a reader, I was really into it. Great job.

Sorry that I missed the predictions my man, I meant to do it last week but between sickness and Thanksgiving - things got away from me.

But let's jump into GAB.

Your love of Val Venis is mind boggling, haha. Fun match to pen with though, was hoping Regal would pull off the win. Lol at you can't tiger bomb Kidman either. If Regal wasn't winning, I'd rather it be Venis than Kidman.

THE CHAMP IS HERE. NO FLOCK?!

Lol - will never not love Steiner calling people fat. Good win for the Dudleyz here. Fans are loving the start to this show.

Love the strong showing from Noble. I think Guerrero was always winning this but think Noble came out looking strong. Will be interesting to see where both go from here.

Nice little highlight package for the US Title Match. Nice touch.

Haha at Angle getting upset he wasn't getting to be involved in the wrestling exchanges and then gets taken out. Fine with a little bit of hotshotting the US title as Malenko got a nice rub from it, but Booker is someone to build around so I like him getting the belt here. And with Angle not involved in the finish, guessing we might get more of him in the title scene moving forward.

E&C vs. Hardyz is always a good time and you captured it well here. After the E&C promo earlier about the Hardyz never beating them, I had a feeling this was going to be the night. Big night for the faces so far at GAB.

I don't like the way Raven said unfortunate toward Vader... oh boy.

Kaz has been a joy in this BTB and have loved what he's done for the cruiserweight title. So I'm glad his reign of terror will continue.

NEW BLOOD?!

Maybe I spoke too soon about it being the faces' night. Big win for The Flock and hey HOGAN gets to be the one making the pin. Might've preferred Raven getting the pinfall especially if he's potentially trying to position himself as the contender IF Goldberg wins later. But that's minor. Steiner lookin like a beast in this one despite not even being in the match, lol.

Another nice detail is the pre-match stuff to get us hyped for the Main Event. Good shit.

You got me with the Fake Sting attack kickout... I thought that was gonna be it. Jesus these kickouts from Goldberg are insane. AND VADER KICKS OUT OF THE JACKHAMMER? Holy shit... I really thought that was it. Gaaaaaahhhh man... finally Vader puts him away. I actually thought Goldberg was going to pull it off, especially after the Raven tease earlier tonight.

What a show. What a slobberknocker of a Main Event. I'm super intrigued by the direction of Vader/Raven though.

Welp folks, there's a reason why Stojy is so good at this and has racked up so many BTBOTMs over the years. Great show.

Let's see how we're getting on. Last time I provided feedback you were a few weeks out from the Great American Bash, so I'm curious how we've got here.

I see you've kept it pretty formulaic for the situation revolving around the WCW World Television Championship. I was never too fond of this concept being executed with multi-man matches, but I'll bet that as much of an apparent styles clash it strikes me to see Billy Kidman and Val Venis mix it up - I do like the sound of him and Val Venis as a feud. It was an effective opener, but I'll be honest, I was surprised to see William Regal take the fall here.

I can only imagine the pouty faces on Scott Steiner and Buff Bagwell, having to hear that tonight is the night they'll be putting the Dudley Boyz over. It gave the Dudleys a big and effective victory, and Bagwell taking the loss made a lot of sense.

I really think Jamie Noble would have thrived had WCW survived the buyout from the WWF, eventually. I think 2002 was going to be his year one way or the other. So I'm very glad to see Eddie Guerrero get a chance to work his magic with a competitive match with the up-and-comer, though I do think you could have been daring and afforded Noble a career-trajecting victory here.

I maybe would have avoided having more than one three-way match on one card, but that's personal preference. I'm again very surprised at the decision to have Booker T in here with two technical classists in Dean Malenko and Kurt Angle. It's a wise decision to have T beat Malenko to capture the WCW United States Championship, when you could have taken the easy way out and had the champion uninvolved with the decision. Then again, in the summer of 2000 I suspect your aim was to protect Kurt where possible in his rookie year.

You've done a very masterful job of building the Hardy Boyz up to finally capture the WCW Tag Team Championship, and we know the story with Edge and Christian and the Hardys in this era. I really liked the write-up that was done, here. I would suspect the Dudleys are about to get back in the hunt after their win earlier tonight.

Man, I really am shocked you decided against opening the show with Kaz Hayashi and Juventud Guerrera. That would have been a hell of an opener. It's kind of in a death slot here after the title change, but then again we had a lot of outside interference here to pad the loss for Juvi. CIMA and Hayashi as a tandem is interesting, and has potential in the tag team ranks, perhaps after the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship is dropped.

The six-man tag team match had a lot of layers, and perhaps most surprisingly, this was the one that felt most like WCW. I still don't necessarily get the Raven and Hollywood Hogan dynamic for the life of me, but I can't deny how you've brought things together as a narrative. Scott Steiner attacking Chris Benoit was a choice, and I'm actually pretty certain that would have made for a good program.

The WCW World Heavyweight Championship main event was well executed, but I do have severe concerns about the health of Vader in 2000 after a 24-minute match - as well as Goldberg. I don't know if I agree with the finish, but it does avoid being the most obvious result you could have booked. It felt very humanising for Goldberg to lose in the decisive manner he did, with or without Raven's aid. This sets in motion Raven as the ultimate big bad of the company, which is definitely something I can enjoy.

Thanks for all the feedback, folks. Much appreciated. More feedback than predictions is crazy, not sure that's happened before so thanks again. Am grateful.

Was going to take the rest of the year off. Then Covid happened to me, wife and daughter which means in between coughing up a lung, I wrote a show. Happy holidays to everybody...

Yes, the modern WWE BTB is a thing but I'm not dropping this bad boy either.

Glad to see this isn't going away with Hell freezing over like it has.

Jumping back in with the most recent show. Jamie Noble's push has been fun and it's good to see that he's getting rewarded with a title shot after the strong showing he had against Eddy.

Noooo, poor La Parka.

Decent Flair promo, not sure I'm excited about another Hogan/Flair matchup but it is what it is, haha.

Big action packed battle royal - I was hoping you'd go with Raven winning because I feel like we're building to something between him and Vader. Loved the storylines going on in the battle royal though and the fallout of Steiner seemingly not pleased... I sense more TENSION in the Flock. Dun Dun Dunnnnn.

The love of Val Venis in this BTB is like none other and I can't help but enjoy you booking your guilty pleasure so strongly, haha. Big win for the faces but what a night it is for Raven with him getting the chance to stand all at the end. I'm ready to see him with the big gold belt myself. Bring it on.

This continues to be a lot of just unadulterated fun.

Thanks for the comments, Dubb. Love the last comment about this one just being fun, kind of the whole point of this unrealistic BTB.

News And Notes

We are less than a week away from New Blood Rising and the talk of the town is the huge main event which has been signed for tonight’s edition of WCW Monday Nitro. It will see WCW United States Champion Booker T teaming alongside Chris Benoit and Ric Flair facing the team of Curt Hennig, Raven and the WCW World Heavyweight Champion Vader. And to make things even more exciting, it will be an elimination match.

Fresh off the press is another match announcement, this one for New Blood Rising itself. There will be a Cruiserweight division six man tag team match as Billy Kidman, Juventud Guerrera and Rey Mysterio Jr. take on Kaientai in the form of CIMA, Dick Togo and Taka Michinoku. Fellow Kaientai member, the WCW Cruiserweight Champion Kaz Hayashi will be an interested party, as there’s quite the stipulation attached to this match. The winner of the deciding fall will face Hayashi, or whoever the Cruiserweight Champion is at Fall Brawl on September 17th.

On the June 26th edition of Nitro, The Hardy Boyz cut a promo where they made reference to running The New Age Outlaws out of WCW. Since that promo, there has still been no appearance from the Outlaws on television, and we can confirm that they have indeed left WCW. The Outlaws have returned to the World Wrestling Federation and look to be scheduled to go on a tag team title run there, which they are both reportedly happy with, despite the WWF’s fledgling ratings and business.

During last week’s Battle Royal, Eddie Guerrero landed awkwardly after his elimination, and medics were forced to come out and help him to the back. It has since been confirmed that this is not kayfabe, and Guerrero truly is injured. As a matter of fact, scans show he has a broken ankle, so the time frame currently being put on his return is several months away.

I am winging this, basing my choices only off of the background posts, skimming the previous results and reading the go-home show :lol I intend to get fully engrossed in this project with New Blood Rising.
