The show begins with our commentary team promoting tonight’s Starrcade Rewind match. Tonight’s Starrcade Rewind will be the main event, and it will be Diamond Dallas Page vs. Vader in a No Disqualification match.

Chris Benoit defeated William Regal. Regal is epic and held his own here, however he opted to try and use his WCW Television Title to gain an unfair advantage. Regal’s challenger for said title at Starrcade, D’Lo Brown ran down and prevented Regal from cheating. As Regal was distracted, he then turned into the Crossface and had no choice but to submit.

Post match, somewhat out of character, Chris Benoit opted to grab a microphone. He says that an ending he’s been trying to avoid for a long time now has become inevitable. He understands Ric Flair is ‘The Man’, and ‘The Nature Boy’, and sometimes that’s just Ric, but enough is enough. Last week and World War 3 were too much, and now it has to happen, AND BENOIT OFFICIALLY CHALLENGES RIC FLAIR TO A MATCH AT STARRCADE~!

WCW Tag Team Champions Edge and Christian teamed with Kurt Angle and defeated the makeshift team of Booker T, Matt Hardy and Val Venis. Finally, the unlikely tandem of Booker and Venis broke down, as they accidentally hit each other throughout the match. With tensions building, they started fighting each other, with left Hardy alone to be hit with the Angle Slam and pinned by Kurt.

After the match, with Booker and Venis preoccupied, the tag champs stalks Hardy for the Conchairto, but they are interrupted by Lita running down. As this happening, Val and Booker managed to team up again fighting Angle to the back, meaning there’s nobody to intervene. As Lita pleads with them not to hurt Matt, EDGE RUNS THROUGH LITA WITH A SPEAR!!! After that heinous act, with Lita out of the equation, they line up the Conchairto again, but Jeff Hardy runs down, armed with a LADDER… AND HE RUNS THROUGH EDGE AND CHRISTIAN WITH THE LADDER!!! The tag champs hurry to the back to lick their wounds, as Jeff checks on his brother and Lita.

Chris Jericho defeated Billy Kidman VIA DQ therefore Kidman retains the WCW Cruiserweight Championship. Interestingly enough considering their history, Jericho seemed to be determined to prove the myth wrong and Powerbomb Kidman but was unable to do so. Due to growing frustration, in a repeat from last week, Jericho brought a steel chair into the ring, however Kidman was able to snatch the chair away and nail Jericho with it.

After the DQ had been called, Kidman goes nuts on Jericho with the steel chair!!! The Cruiserweight champion loses it, until a bunch of officials and security come down to break it up. As things are being calmed down, WCW President Jim Cornette makes his way onto the stage. Cornette says he has given these guys multiple opportunities to sort out their issues, but this is enough. They’ve forced his hand, and he REALLY didn’t want to do this. This issue will be done one way or another, because at Starrcade, they’ll meet one last time. This ends FOR GOOD. Chris Jericho vs. Billy Kidman. WCW United States title vs. WCW Cruiserweight title. TITLE VS. TITLE. NO DISQUALIFICATIONS. LOSER LEAVES TOWN~!

Dean Malenko defeated Perry Saturn via submission. Sensing Saturn was in trouble, fellow Flock member Buff Bagwell attempted to interfere with a steel chair, but Bagwell was intercepted by Horseman, Jamie Noble. Noble snatches the chair away and as the referee tries to get rid of Bagwell, Noble shows the Horsemen can play just as dirty, as Noble hits Saturn in the back with the steel chair as he bounces off the ropes. Saturn crumbled to the canvas and Malenko was able to lock in the Cloverleaf.

Post match, all four men continue to brawl, until Curt Hennig runs down to give The Flock the numbers advantage… But then Diamond Dallas Page runs down to even the odds, and The Flock are forced to retreat.

Backstage, The Hardy Boyz are having a discussion about Starrcade, when they are attacked from behind by Edge and Christian. The Hardyz are quick to fight back, but then Kurt Angle gets involved and helps give Edge and Christian the advantage. This continues until Booker T and Val Venis intervene. They both fight Angle, but then Booker and Venis start fighting each other again. It’s complete mayhem in the back, and once again, Jim Cornette is forced to have security and officials split up a brawl. Getting increasingly frustrated, Cornette announces that it will be Booker T vs. Kurt Angle vs Val Venis in a Triple Threat Match at Starrcade. On top of that, the already booked WCW Tag Team Championship match between Edge and Christian and The Hardy Boyz will now be a LADDER MATCH~!

D'Lo Brown defeated Kaz Hayashi via pinfall. Brown finishes off Hayashi with the Lo Down. After the match, Brown celebrates and then exits the ring. He stops at the top of the ramp and turns back to face the fans, allowing William Regal to nail him from behind with the TV Title.

Next up we get an in ring promo from Ric Flair, who responds to the challenge made by Chris Benoit earlier tonight. Flair accepts Benoit’s challenge to a match at Starrcade. He talks about how he took Benoit from a nothing with big potential and made him into the man who held the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Flair says he can tell that Benoit wants to be ‘The Man’, but just like the saying goes; in order to be the man, you have to beat the man.

Vader defeated Diamond Dallas Page via pinfall in a No Disqualification Match. The ending came about after Vader Powerbombed DDP through two chairs.

After the match, Vader gets no time to celebrate as Scott Norton runs down to brawl with him. It isn’t long before Goldberg and Scott Steiner join the fray as well. As these behemoths battle it out, The Flock sneak to the ring and focus their attentions on attacking Diamond Dallas Page. The beatdown continues until Sting repels down from the rafters. Sting cleans house, removing The Flock from the ring with only Hollywood Hogan and WCW World Heavyweight Champion Raven escaping unscathed. As the dastardly duo back up the ramp, Jim Cornette makes one last appearance and announces next week’s final Starrcade Rewind match. IT WILL BE HOGAN VS. STING NEXT WEEK ON NITRO~!

Booker T and Val Venis met in the opening match of the night but fought to a No Contest finish. As the two tried to figure out how to beat the other, WCW Tag Team Champions Edge and Christian, as well as Kurt Angle attacked both men. The beatdown didn’t last long however, as The Hardy Boyz made the save and were able to clear the ring of the heels. Trying to prevent the same chaos as last week’s Nitro, WCW President Jim Cornette appears and announces that there will be an eight man tag later tonight, with Booker T, The Hardy Boyz and Val Venis facing Edge, Christian, Kurt Angle and the WCW Television Champion, William Regal.

WCW Cruiserweight Champion Billy Kidman and Rey Mysterio defeated WCW United States Champion Chris Jericho and Lance Storm via pinfall. The match ended with Kidman and Storm battling it out, and Storm stupidly tried to Powerbomb Kidman. One Facebuster later, Kidman nailed the Shooting Star Press to score the victory. After the match, Jericho and Kidman brawled again, and yet again they had to be pulled apart by road agents, referees and security.

Ric Flair defeated Buff Bagwell via submission. As usual when involving a member of The Flock, Curt Hennig and Perry Saturn attempted to interfere, however were cut off by Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko and Jamie Noble. This allowed Flair to lock on the Figure Four and pick up the win.

After the match, due to their increasing friction, Ric Flair isn’t happy with receiving Chris Benoit’s help. They go face to face, exchanging words, when Hennig sneaks from behind and pushes Benoit into Flair!

FLAIR SNAPS AND THROWS A RIGHT HAND AND BENOIT RETALIATES!!!

BENOIT AND FLAIR ARE GOING AT IT!!!

The Horsemen do their best to separate their two leaders but are not having much luck. The bubble has finally burst here as even Diamond Dallas Page runs down to help his partners for Starrcade pull Benoit and Flair apart. With everybody focused on Flair and Benoit, who’re still trying to tear each other apart, The Flock sneak back in and attack Malenko, Noble and DDP. After a few moments, Benoit and Flair notice, stop going at each other, and run off The Flock. They then check on their friends, but both men clearly can’t wait to get their hands on the other this Sunday at Starrcade.

Mean Gene Okerlund interviews a frustrated Rey Mysterio in the back. Rey talks about how he deserves to be on the Starrcade card in a singles match, none of this bonus Battle Royal nonsense. Jim Cornette conveniently walks on by and initially brushes off Rey’s request. Mysterio is persistent though, until Cornette with a glint in his eye tells Rey he has an idea. Mysterio will face a mystery opponent at Starrcade.

Booker T, The Hardy Boyz and Val Venis defeated Edge, Christian, Kurt Angle and William Regal via pinfall. Looking for revenge from last week, D’Lo Brown came down and attacked Regal. With the faces having the numbers advantage, Booker nails Edge with the Book End for the win.

Curt Hennig and Scott Steiner defeated Diamond Dallas Page and Scott Norton via pinfall. Continuing the recent trend, Norton and Steiner just brawled on the floor, seemingly not even caring about the result of the match. The referee gets distracted by the action outside, and Hennig and DDP decide to join in. Goldberg then runs down the ramp and looks to Spear Steiner…No!!! Steiner avoids it and Goldberg accidentally Spears DDP outside of the ring. Despite the initial shock, Goldberg quickly turn to see Steiner escaping through the crowd, and Norton is right behind him giving chase. The Berg gives chase as well, leaving a battered DDP alone with Hennig. Hennig drags him back inside and hits the Hennig Plex for the win.

Low Ki defeated Chavo Guerrero Jr., Psicosis and Taka Michinoku in a Fatal Four Way Match. This one is filler to remind you they exist and will most likely be in the bonus Battle Royal at Starrcade. Ki makes Taka submit to the Dragon Clutch for the victory.

The big time main event of Hulk Hogan vs. Sting… Doesn’t actually happen.
Sorry, not a free TV match, folks. The Flock and Vader attack Sting on his way down the ramp. Sting tries to fight back but struggles with numbers, until Diamond Dallas Page and The Four Horsemen run down to make the save. Everything just disintegrates into a massive fight, as DDP and The Horsemen battle The Flock up the ramp, whilst Sting hits a series of Stinger Splashes on Hogan inside of the ring… ONLY TO TURN INTO A TITLE SHOT TO THE SKULL FROM WCW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION RAVEN!!! The champ quickly drags the dazed Sting up and drops him with the Evenflow! Much to the dismay of the fans, less than a week away from Starrcade, Raven stands over the fallen Sting, raising the World Title high in the air…
