I don't get the "Joker stuff" line. It's his style. Punk, Cena, any other good mic workers have a certain style regardless of their gimmick. I think any promo I link pre-WWE will get the "Well, it's the joker style" response, which makes me searching while Brazil are on pretty redundant. Punk - as a face or heel - is at his best when he's intense. He can play the slow talking viscous smug guy or whatever, but Ambrose is currently playing that now. I've not seen many Ambrose promos currently in WWE where he is playing on his psychotic persona, it's more been promos from the typical over-confident heel. Like my signature for example. Those sort of lines. Were they delivered in a Joker style too? (Not a sarcastic question, I'm seriously curious).

Also, Alkaline, fuck off:

If you want to let your toyboy do the work that's fine, but don't go off and boast about it elsewhere in private. I remember the last time you brought up Ambrose's flaws, I absolutely tore your argument apart. You never responded.

I was boasting about it in the Showoff section check out the thread if you wish :adr:

Anyway I'm talking about Moxley only so post some preWWE stuff, I mentioned in the past he was one dimensional but admittedly he has improved his range since he came same as he's improved his ring work. Before he couldn't even be carried by Danielson but now he can semicarry the workload with Rollins (Rollins directs him through it for instance in their FCW matches but he puts his work in) and he looks lost some of the time in ring, I'll always remember him working Kane's leg on a smackdown before just looking round for 30 seconds or so. He looked like he didn't know what to hit, I'll credit him with the ability to bump like a champ though and that he's always had. Most of his promos show the joker mannerisms (the licking of the lips, the pouts and the way he varies his tone and tempo in similar places they're all key aspects of the Joker delivery.) the one time he changed it up I wasn't that impressed tbh (this previous Smackdown I think it was, they were backstage anyway). People can have a style sure but Punk for instance has some of the greatest variety you can see, compare SES, Summer of Punk 2011 Punk,Summer of Punk 2005 Punk, ECW babyface Punk. They all have different flows to them, even SES vs Respect were polar opposites despite holding similar principles.

I'll concede Dean is an average - with the right opponent good brawler with very good mic work at what he does but that's after huge steps from the performance he showed as Moxley which was the entire discussion. Feel free to debate me though people I'm as open as a prostitutes legs.

I actually get the comparison, but I believe he is a pretty good wrestler. His only flaw is he is moving too fast, and sometimes it gets sloppy.

I'm not even saying the joker thing is a bad gimmick, I'd like him to show he can be great at different things. Danielson was great on the stick as the annoying prick heel and a balls to the wall babyface for example.

Yeah, I can't remember Ambrose/moxley having much in terms of variety from his promos.

The Joker line stumps me as-well. Batman: The Dark Knight was released in 2008,that was the first Batman movie were the Joker was a sick and twisted villain instead of a comedic villain. Mox's character wasn't derived from that Joker because he was delivering the same type of promos way before that Batman was released. Mox might have threw in some characteristics from that Joker to add edge to his character but that's about it.

Firstly, why are we talking about wrestling here? I've not once during my fanboyism claimed he's a good wrestler. Or a fantastic wrestler. I've said he was a good seller and that wrestling really doesn't bother me. I'll take a feud with a good story over a feud with just good wrestling. So to tell me he's bad or has improved at wrestling specifically means absolutely nothing to me. It's like telling me the sun keeps us warm.

Secondly, I'm a mark for psycho-related gimmicks. I'm one of the biggest Joker marks there is, so no doubt that helps me enjoy Ambrose more than most. But, you're definitely in the minority who don't enjoy his mic work, so that may say something. His pre-WWE stuff was one-dimensional because he tended to have that gimmick 99% of the time. He isn't going to cut a promo about flowers if he is a psycho asshole. Stopspot said the same thing in one thread that he's one dimensional IN WWE! I was like, wtf, he's had one fucking run with Shield and he's one dimensional? Dafuq is wrong with you. The guy has already shown variety with his current gimmick compared to any of his pre-WWE ones, and he has been the shining star. Read the reviews of Shield and look for the star of the team, Ambrose is labelled as that shining star 99% of the time. Reigns has the look, Rollins has the mat-wrestling skill, Ambrose had it all. By that I don't mean he's anywhere near as good as Rollins in the ring, I mean he's definitely good enough for any kind of push. WWE - like me - don't give a fuck about outstanding wrestling skill.

The psychotic gimmick itself is saturated, and probably way more so on the indies, but I don't watch independent wrestling productions at all. So over saturation definitely isn't something that I, and the majority, give a single shit about. From what I have seen though, he plays it so much better than others who have played a similar gimmick. That's why I like him. He plays it SO well. I don't overrate him, I don't refuse to admit his flaws, I enjoy the fuck out of him. Why do so many wrestling fans, like Alkaline, give a shit whether someone is overrated or not? Who cares? Why does it matter? Ambrose is in the fetus stages of his WWE career right now, and people are already trying to pick holes.

Yeah, it's really unfair to judge him on his current gimmick in the "E" That'd be like judging a rookie soccer player, and saying he sucks, because he had a bad first few games. In Ambroses' case though, he's clearly the best talker in the shield. So.... what is the issue?
