I read this very interesting article the other day and heard the term "Butterfly Effect" for the 1st time. Upon reading the article the realisation of the smallest thing having the biggest impact dawned on me. Anyway I rejoined the forum (after being absent before WWEF Merged) and wondered what everyone else thought.

What is the biggest Butterfly Effect in all of Wrestling or even the most underrated? Or the most obscure you can think of.

(If this isn't in the correct discussion/category I apologise)

I mean the obvious one gotta be what if Nash and Hall never leave WWF for WCW?

No curtain call ever happens so Triple H never gets punished and he goes on to win the KOTR instead of Austin. So that means no Austin 3:16 promo and Austin probably remains as “The Ringmaster”, never to really shoot into stardom. nWo never happens to the same level so there’s a possibility that the Monday Night Wars doesn’t happen which means WWF maybe never goes into the Attitude Era which fucks a lot of things up and there’s no wrestling boom.

Hell, DX doesn’t happen either so HHH never becomes The Game and stays as “Hunter Hearst Helmsley” while Road Dogg and Billy Gunn still become a tag team just not as successful as they become as part of DX.

I even watched something on the network the other week about this and totally forgot. The drastic difference if Austin never had the 3:16 promo. Would we even be tuning into WWE right now?

Eh, Austin was already turning into the Stone Cold character by April 1996, him not getting that Austin 3:16 promo may not have immediately shot him up to relevancy, but it's not like he still wouldn't have had the feud with Bret Hart (which is what actually made him a top guy).

What's more likely to happen is that Shawn doesn't lose his smile and just drops the belt to Nash or Hall because of course he would. WrestleMania 13 would likely be a Bret/Nash/Hall show and Shawn would maybe face off against Vader or Austin.

Austin still becomes a main eventer regardless, just with less pull because of the kliq. Hunter Hearst Helmesley likely suffers the most of anyone because without the trials and tribulations and without DX, he doesn't become a main eventer.

All that being said, I don't see a scenario where Hall or Nash stay. The money they were being offered by WCW was insane and even if for the sake of hypotheticals you want to say WCW weren't interested, then Vince would obviously undercut the two and try to get them to take less to come back.

I mean you really could use this for any big moment in wrestling lol. How bout John Cena? We heard he was literally on the cutting block and was gonna get released before coming up with his amazing Doctor of Thuganomics gimmick and eventually becoming the face of WWE. Can we imagine a WWE without John Cena?

OP doesn't want big moments tho he said what's the most minor event that without it happening would result in a drastically different landscape. "Obscure" is being read over lol

Mine is Mick Foley getting his first break (as admitted by him) due to being hyped in the Observer....bc there were no pictures lol

But as they say, the cream always rises to the top so it's hard to imagine he wouldn't have eventually made it to a big company with his talent, especially once perception changed up in the 90s as far as looks

Oh a good more recent one (even if it didn't produce long term change) was Mustafa Ali getting injured and taken out of Elimination Chamber a few years ago directly lead to KofiMania lol

Interesting article. One thing I have to consider: What if CM Punk didn't leave WWE in 2014? Because that was perhaps one of the big things which pushed WWE to rework all of Mania that year to one of the biggest feel good moments with Daniel Bryan winning. What if he stayed? Would that change have happened? Then what about Bryan's injury which lead to retirement for a bit?

If Finn Balor doesn't get injured at Summerslam, does Kevin Owens get his reign and how does that pan out? I've always wondered about that. Seems like they were really high on Balor at first, he legit got such an insane push after his debut until the injury hit him.

I made a thread a while ago but basically, WWF being in possession of the Women's Title belt for one day in 1995 = no Montreal, TNA, or AEW

I think if Lex does win at SummerSlam, the plan was always going to be to have Bret win at WrestleMania X against Yokozuna, so I doubt much would change. There's absolutely no way that Vince McMahon would ever have let Hogan back in either scenario simply because he would be both too costly and Hogan burned his bridge with Vince already.
