Mad Dog & Glory (1993) Wayne "Mad Dog" (Robert De Niro) is a homicide detective who's more of a shrinking violet than a macho cop. The film begins with a drug deal gone bad as a young Hispanic male guns down a drug dealer and a close friend who could've been a potential witness and steals the drugs and loot. Wayne accidentally confronts the perp in a convenience store and, instead of unloading bullets on him Dirty Harry style, calms him down because he has a hostage Frank Milo (Bill Murray) so he allowed the perp to get away.

Frank Milo is actually a Chicago mob boss and, in a gratitude for saving his life, lends a young lady Glory (Uma Thurman) to Wayne for a week. Glory's brother is in debt to Frank Milo and she now has to work as a bartender and a go-fer to pay off her brother's debt. Wayne begins to fall in love with Glory but is it all an angle played by Glory to get her out of Frank's clutches? While it's a crime drama the theme of the film felt light hearted.

Unicorn Store (2019...well 2017 really)

th

Okay...so...how do I unpack this?

I think I understand what "they" were going for here...
but it just didn't work for many, many reason.

Brie Larson was too "normal" & old for the lead role...
Some of the line reads were fucking terrible...
The story doesn't really amount to anything...
The cinematography was bland & boring...
&
Most of humor fell completely flat...

But...(Not Brie Larson's butt...she doesn't have one)...

I did enjoy watching the film simply because of how
weird, quirky, colorful & strange it was.

It has a certain charm to it that's hard to describe...
which sucks because I'm trying to explain why I
actually enjoyed the film...& I can't.

I think with a better director, a couple of re-writes &
Alison Brie in the lead role (yes she's older than Larson
but I believe she could play a younger role) this could
have been great...but as it is...its just odd.

Like when you see someone wearing a raincoat &
gum boots on a hot, sunny day...or when you see
someone who has a tattoo of their own face.

I'd say watch it just because of "The Quirk Factor"

*Shrugs*

5 out of 10?

4 out of 10?

I'm not really sure.
Watched Shazam... I wasn't too impressed.. there were a couple funny moments but it really was lacking something major to me.

4/10
i liked it, you are wrong.

Wait let me add to my review of Shazam...

If you are an adult with the mentality of an 8 year old you will definitely like Shazam... otherwise you will know that it doesn't live up to its hype in any way, shape, or form.

Had to clear that up.

This merging thing is not good.
Just Kevin, is wrong
Okay...but Kev isn't "wrong"

An opinion on a film can't be "wrong"
because every person views a film
through their own perspective.

Case & point...

Avatar is the highest grossing film
of all time...but I think its shit.

Am I wrong? No...

Its just my opinion on the matter.

I think this is absolutely one of the most ingenious, well thought out, fun movies ever. Elisha Cuthbert being one of the sexiest women ever and all the gratuitous nudity aside, this movie has real heart and is just so damn good. It is far-fetched? Sure. Does anyone really care? Not really. It's funny, it's sweet, it's dramatic.. and did I mention it has lots of gratuitous nudity?! An hour and 45 minutes well spent.
