Well, I looked back a few pages and I didn’t see this as a topic, so I thought I would make a thread on our professions. If there already is one and I missed it, I apologize to the staff of Pulse in advance.

We all had those dreams as a child of what we wanted to be when we grew up, and in some of our elementary, middle, and secondary schools we did reports or projects on what we desired to be when we became an adult. As a child, I either wanted to be a professional football player, police officer, or a soldier in the Army like my father and grand father before me. Well, the dream to be a professional athlete went out the window my freshmen year of college when I got whacked in the knee during a game. Since I was only in a Junior College, and really wasn’t big enough, this injury just pretty much ended a dream that was already shattered due to my lacking in the genetics department.

So logically, I finished my degree and joined the Army Reserves (actually before I finished my degree) and became a police officer. Neither of these professions has been anywhere near as satisfying as I would have hoped, and I’ve actually been considering changing careers. Well to be honest, I haven’t been a police officer for two years now, and have made no attempts to get back into the field. As soon as I return stateside, I’m going to go to bartending school and become a licensed bar tender, so along with that and my MBA, I hope eventually own my own bar. Also the fact people won’t hate me as much because of my professions is going to be an added incentive to want to succeed in fulfilling this dream. I think since I have a skill of building rapport with people, and the fact I just love people in general, would give me a great opportunity to have a decent run bartending.

So now that I’ve shared a little bit more insight into my career/former careers, why not share a little bit about yourselves. What do you do as your job/career? Do you enjoy it? If not, do you plan on changing your career path?

I'm a Pokemon master, does that count?

But seriously I haven't settled on any careers. I gotta get some things in order first. I see myself able to a lot of things, graphic design, maybe video editing, computers, counseling, or a school teacher. I'll know when I cross that bridge.

I'm a sales advisor. I basically help people understand credit and stuff and then advise them on their buying options.

The long term plan is to move into management, but I'm in no rush right now. I take whatever training I can get so I can be of use when needed.

I am a counselor at a group home for teenage girls who get into behavioral problems, drug issues, or into trouble with the law and sell insurance on the side.

Do I plan on changing careers anytime soon. Not really because when I see the kid change from what they were when they came in to what they are when they go home I feel like I have accomplished something.

ROFL, that's what I call butchery at its finest! No, I am not Scandinavian.

I'm currently at school so I don't have a job.

Swamps, what's being a copper like? It's something I would like to go into in the future.
