By historic event I mean like MLK's I Have a dream speech, unless you mean a specific New Year like 2000.

Oh I see. I read it wrong but every year that is historic in its own right every year but by the terms that you mentioned I would have to say Abraham Lincoln ' s Gettysburg Address or the shoot out at the OK Corral.
