Okay here is my 2 cents (or a buck fifty if you will)
First off, I didn't read everything, but the reason why people's personal log info was included is so that Viacom can go after individuals who are posting the copywrited material.
Technically user upload or not, Youtube is in violation of the law by allowing the material to be posted in the first place. Doesn't matter if there the ones posting it or not. So Viacom goes after the individuals.
If you've never posted copywritten videos on Youtube you have nothing to worry about.
Also if you live in Canada your safe
God I love that canadian laws as it relates to copywrite are so horriable. (yeah by the way you know how file sharing is ilegal in the US...its not in Canada. lol)
Anyways moving on. Bottom line also is, its a company that has your information. Almost every company already does. Do you participate in the "Customer Experience Improvement" Programs that Microsoft offers through there software like MSN, Windows, etc? Guess what they have all your info too and know what web sites you visit and so on. So if you sneaking a peak at the child porn or anything of that type that your not suposed to, its not a big deal anyways? You know why? Despite companies like Microsoft & Viacom having all this information, they are not legally allowed to turn you it. Microsoft is fully aware that my version of Windows is not Ligit. Why have the fuzz never come to get me? Because Privacy act prevents that. And because I know that they know through these means they can never come after me now. Privacy laws in the United States protects there citizens that way.
Finally, the only people you should be concerned with having your information is the Goverment....and most likely they already do anyways. But likewise they can't used what they have because of the way its obtained.
The only difference in this situation is that Viacom has a court order, which means if they find that you are ileagally uploading there copywriten material your screwd. However they can not turn you in to anyone else if they learn through this court order that your say ilegally uploading Warner Brothers copywriten material.
I have a Youtube account and I'm not worried (because I don't upload anything) and you can't get in trouble for watching copywriten material.
However I will say that I still don't think its right. But its the signs of the time and its time to get used to it and just realize that unless you are actually doing something wrong and in most cases even if you are, as of right now, they still can't do anything with this information yet.
