Just watched the Primetime and it was alright, I guess.

Didn't do anything people don't already know and was a bit cheesy in parts (every Brazillian grew up in a shanty town and had to fight for food, and Americans like firing big guns in the desert, ok we get it...) but JDS came across as a funny guy.

Does FX have a much smaller reach than Spike TV? Seems like they can only get half as many viewers on FX but is that due to the size of the channel or simply because of who has been involved in the specials?

I think it's more so who's involved in these primetime specials, they used to do it only for the bigger more personal fights now they seem to do it for every main event. The Anderson Silva-Chael Sonnen primetime special will go great numbers when thy're released though.

I was thinking they should even throw the prime time specials on Fox rather than having them on FX.

This show is next weekend, so i thought I'd update this thread with the final cards for the Main and Prelim cards. Even though the original version of this show was better, I'm still pumped for this event. It's going to be pretty damn awesome. Main Card is still pretty good and this show has some damn good prelim fights as well.

Yeah I am still pumped as well, yes the card got a bit weaker but it is still strong and there are some quality fights on the prelims as well. Who doesn't want to see five heavyweight fights on a main card, should produce plenty of finishes. I still have my fingers crossed that Dan Hardy's fight will be shown on tv here.

Mark Hunt is out due to a Leg Injury, Lavar Johnson is taking his place against Struve.

Johnson is really making a name for himself, 3 fights in 4 months. Fully expecting him to decapitate Struve in this fight.

It's a way better fight than Hunt.

Plus, more chance of Struve getting KO'd, so win/win.

Definitely a better fight, but damn this card has changed SO much since it was first announced. Hopefully this is it though, the PPV is next weekend.

Oh and Troy, they've moved Dan Hardy's fight to the Televised Prelims on FX so you'll be able to see it if you have that channel.

I want Mir to win. Not a huge JDS fan, but do like Frank Mir. That is all to be honest. Mir could lose easily, but Mir might pull something out his ass known for doing so.

Re: UFC 149: Aldo vs. Koch

Yeah NMS has it right, don't think he's all that good tbh.

He's the worst out of all the champions by a long stretch IMO, although for his age he's done brilliantly. Just don't feel he'd beat anyone half decent, which is why I'd love to see him move to 155. Edgar would beat him convincingly too were he to move down, although I did say that about Chad Mendes too.

Really think the winner of Zombie/Poirier is the next Featheweight champ in waiting. Aldo should beat Koch though, haven't seen any of his fights apart from his loss to Mendes.

Nice looking card though, good to see Shogun back.

So you hate Aldo, because there is no competition? That is no reason to hate him it is the fighters fighting him. I think Aldo is good, but really label him as overrated when there is no competition. I understand labeling Faber that at the time, but Aldo... man that's messed up.

Would love to see Thiago get a big win, knock out Shogun. That will help you in the long run.

I'm hoping Mir takes this to the ground and Subs JDS. Honestly, Mir might be the only guy who will be able to do it.

My only worry is Mir being stupid and trying to stand and bang with JDS.

By the time he realises that's a bad idea, Herb Dean will be waking him up and calling for the bell.

Re: UFC 149: Aldo vs. Koch

No, I hate Aldo because there IS competition, he's just being fed cans and even then is struggling somewhat.

He just really isn't good, can't wait till Zombie fights him.

That's what I'm worried about also, i just watched an interview and he was saying if he has to he's going to stand with Dos Santos but promises that he's going to eventually Sub him. Also said there's no way the fight gets past 2 rounds.

I'm a fan of Zombie, not a fan of Aldo.

But I do not think Zombie can beat Aldo, sure on the ground he has some good subs, but overall his striking does not look to great, he gets gassed easily. Aldo is a deadly striker. It is a good match up and I will be pulling for Zombie, but I think Aldo is miles ahead of him.
