As The Anigma said, its all based around interest. Getting readers to like a Diva Based BTB is hard but if you can pull it off then by all means give it a go.

Impact Wrestling Forum Presents

THE BTB MAGAZINE

The Editoral

Welcome to the first edition of the Impact Wrestling Forum BTB Magazine. It's been a crazy month for BTB's. Bookers leaving, Bookers returning, but the quality and enjoyment of BTB stays the same. Its also been a crazy first month sorting out the first edition of the BTB Magazine, it was scheduled to have 10+ Articles but I have ended up with 3 by the end of yesterday. But the 3 Articles I have got and you will have the satisfaction of reading are of the highest quality and I want to thank DX Deg.... sorry CT Styles, BKB and CMS for sending their Articles and making them truly fantastic. SO I've talked too long, take a look and marvel at the first BTB Magazine.

BTB Questions

CT Styles: What are your thoughts on your current BTB, 'WWE: The Commencement'?

The Anigma: First, I would like to say thank you to CT Styles for giving me the opportunity to be the first booker to be interviewed for the BTB magazine. Now to your question. Hmm...I'm surprised that it's lasted this long. lol...I mean I really didn't expect it to last as long as it has because The Commencement is actually my first shot at writing a BTB. Before The Commencement, I had no experience whatsoever writing matches and promos, etc. I guess you can say I'm a naturally-gifted writer. At times I feel like quitting BTB because I'll just feel so drained and tired that I just want to take a break and relax which would explain my previous absences from BTB. But I think that my BTB stands as a prime example of how a BTB should be. If you go back and look at when I first started I was posting two shows a week and constantly staying with it. I seen that I needed to do something to refresh my BTB so I came up with the Edwards/Cena storyline then I knew I was unable to post two shows a week so I decided to end the brand extension and put everyone on one show. The Commencement is a massive success and remains one of the top BTB's here on IWF which proves that if you stick with one BTB and have a creative mind then you can become a legend here in BTB. Just like me…;)

CTS: Where would you rank yourself in the BTB section today?

TA: In all honesty, I would rank myself as number one. Not to sound cocky and arrogant, I'll leave that to CMS and DX_3:16 (lol j/k), but I feel as though I'm the best. I've stuck with the same BTB for around a year and whenever it seemed like it was running out of steam I came back with something bigger and better than anyone would've expected (the inclusion of the Edwards/Cena storyline, end of the brand extension, etc.). Not to mention, I put out great show after great show. To quote my favorite wrestler, “I am…that…DAMN…good!â€

CTS: What is your favorite BTB, other than your own?

TA: I would have to say Xtremebadass' BTB, WWE Raw- Real American Wrestling. The promos are outstanding and the matches are great as well. He consistently delivers a great show that leaves you on the edge of your seat throughout and he keeps you guessing what's going to happen next. His Flair/HBK/HHH/Jericho storyline, well, the way he booked it is pure genius, in my opinion.

CTS: Who do you think is the next big thing in BTB?

TA: I'm not too sure. I really don't see any of the noob bookers capable of stepping up to the plate. Sure, they may have a little bit of talent but when you keep creating new BTB's over and over again, no one's going to take you seriously as a writer. They’ll see you as a joke and you won't get anywhere around here. But if I really had to choose a next big booker in BTB then it would have to be Brian Kendrick’s Biceps. His matches are very good though his promos may be off at times, in my opinion. He is one of the bookers on the rise and I think his time may be coming soon. I think he just has to find his niche. Once he discovers that then the BTB section better be on the lookout.

CTS: Who do you think has improved the most in BTB?

TA: This is a difficult question. Hmm…I think the one booker who has improved the most since he’s come here would have to be chessarmy. I think he’s stepped his game up over the past couple of months and is really improving with both is matches and his promos. I really think that he will be one of the top bookers within time.

CTS: Where do you see BTB in six months time? Will it still be as active?

TA: The BTB section has normal states of flux but it never lasts for a long period of time so I'm going to have to say that from now until maybe August we'll see BTB booming but when September rolls around, I think that we may have a state of flux hit and the section won't be as active but I do not think it will be too serious. The locals will still come around…lol…

CTS: Would you consider making a new BTB in the future?

TA: It's tough to say. At times I feel like it would be refreshing for me to do a different BTB but then again I don't really want to leave The Commencement. I hate starting things and ending them without proper closure. So I would consider creating a new BTB in the future but I would have to give The Commencement a proper send-off first. Who knows, I may just end up partnering up with a more new booker and taking him to the top of the mountain. Man, I felt so much like HBK saying that. Lol…

CTS: What makes you want to do BTB?

TA: The creative that comes with it. I love how we can take our favorite wrestlers, put them in various situations, rivalries, etc. and basically run promotions as we see fit. It’s a great thing and I really think that BTB is underrated even though a lot of people are into it. I think that forum members that don’t even bother to check out BTB are missing out on something that if they give it a chance, they might enjoy it.

CTS: Who do you think is the best match writer?

TA: Excluding myself, I would have to say that Headfirst For Hardcore is the best match writer at this time. I thoroughly enjoy reading his matches and I think that he can be big in BTB. The only problem is his BTB isn’t a company a lot of people are familiar with. Brian Kendrick’s Biceps is a runner-up as is CT Styles.

CTS: Who do you think is the best promo writer?

TA: I would have to say Xtremebadass, hands down. His promos always have been and will more than likely always will be the best ever. You can really visualize his promos as you read them. He’s a very good writer and I have a lot of respect for him.

CTS: Now for the final question. Do you have any advice or a message for your fellow BTB'ers?

TA: Yes, I do and as a matter of fact, it may be more of a rant than advice or a message...lol...

Too many of you guys have forgotten why we do this in the first place. We do this because we enjoy doing it. It isn’t about how many awards you've won, how many tournaments you've been apart of and/or won, how many threads you've created or how many BTB's you've been apart of. It's about creativity and doing something that you enjoy doing. It's not about having the most reviews; it's about writing to the best of your abilities and seeing how much you can excel at it. I think too many BTB’ers have forgotten that and that brings a lot of stupidity to the section. By stupidity I mean the pointless threads calling out other bookers instead of taking up the matter privately through PM, the cockiness, the unwarranted cockiness that is where a booker brags about how great he is but doesn’t have anything to back it up. Ah, I’m going into rant mode right now…lol…so I’m just going to end this by saying that every booker has the talent to be popular and have a genuinely great BTB, they just have to be patient. Stick with one BTB; put all your creativity into it and you will be acknowledged for your abilities. Anigma out!

The Fountain of Knowledge

Wow, welcome to my first ever column in the first ever BTB Magazine. This is new to me, so I hope this column isn’t too bad. Every issue, I just address whatever the hell I want to, and you get to read it. So hopefully you enjoy this.

I was thinking about what I should write about first, and I know I could write about anything I wanted to. Anything in the BTB World. And something has been coming up lately, and that is about how crowded the BTB section is. I think the person who originally brought this up was C4. Let me just say before I say anything else, that I do respect your opinion C4, and this is just mine. You may think along the same lines, or you may not. I am just giving my opinion. Also, let me just clear up that C4 is not the only person who thinks this. In discussions with bookers on MSN, a few other people have said it. It is just something that happens. I will mention one of their names later in the column.

There are two different sides to the argument. One is that, people are just wasting our time, and never really plan on going on with it. Either that or they suck. The other one is that everyone deserves the right to do what they want on the forum (within the rules), and that should have the creative freedom to do what they want. Most people are either on one side of the argument, or the other. There really seems to be no in between. The thing is, you can’t be wrong. It is just an opinion.

Which side of the argument am I on? Well I think that everyone should have the freedom to be creative. That is what writing a BTB is all about. You can take any wrestlers you want, and put them in a match, where you decide what they do, when they do it. You can even bring in people who are not full time wrestlers, or compete in MMA (just ask one of our top bookers CMS, who is using Bob Sapp). The freedom is great. If you have the freedom to do what you want in your very own BTB, why shouldn’t people who want to begin have the freedom to make a BTB and the freedom to do what they want with it. You had the freedom to start one. It would be extremely unfair to deny newbies that freedom.

I know that you could all be sitting there and be thinking, “Well, that is very all well and good, but what if the new bookers suck?†Indeed they may suck. But this is where a great example of improvement comes in and proves that you can improve rapidly. One of the people from the BTB section who I talk to regularly on MSN is GardsJr. Gards is reasonably well respected in the section, and people do think a lot of his booking. Gards is indeed one of those with the opinion of that there are too many newbies. He has said that some people who do start suck. This is not a dig at you Gards, as I like you, but this is just a great example to use. I know all of you (or at least most of you) like Gards’ writing, and think he is a good booker. But do any of you remember what Gards was like when he started about four months ago? Do any of you remember his first work?

Mr Kennedy vs Cody Rhodes
Match starts off with Rhodes hitting a hip toss on Kennedy, Kennedy backs off to the turnbuckle and slowly gets back on his feet. Rhodes charges at Kennedy but Kennedy moves and Rhodes hits the turnbuckle with a head of steam, Kennedy then goes to work on Cody's back with an uncharacteristic dropkick grounding Cody. Then applys a bow and arrow to the young Rhodes's back. Kennedy helps Rhodes up and quickly clotheslines him back down. Further injuring the back. Kennedy then sets Rhodes up for the backbreacker and hits it. Kennedy picks him up and goes for a European uppercut, but Rhodes dodges and gets a strike of his own in before a dropkick.

Back from commercial with Rhodes still in control, Rhodes goes up to the top rope and sets up for a crossbody but crashes and burns. Kennedy quickly goes for the cover 1 2... Rhodes gets his shoulder up. Kennedy clearly frustrated argue with the ref, then goes back on the offence. Kennedy goes to strike Rhodes but hits the ref which knocks him out, Kennedy is then given a low blow by Rhodes. Rhodes goes over to the turnbuckle and perches himself on it, waiting for Kennedy to get up. When Kennedy does get up a cross body hits him. Followed by a springboard leg drop and the pin 1 2 3...

That was Gards’ first match. No it is not very good at all. If he was a newbie now, people would just say he shouldn’t bother. But because this was four months ago, before a lot of new BTB’s opened, everyone just let it go. And they still should now. Look how much Gards has improved in such a short time. He is one of the better bookers of the section now. I bet that when CMS, or Switchy started, they wouldn’t have been anywhere near the bookers they are today. The reality is that people improve if you let them. By saying that we should limit the amount of BTB’s, this is not letting people improve. It is the complete opposite.

Some people also say that people should have to prove that they deserve to open up a BTB. What are they going to do? PM Levi? I am sure that Levi doesn’t need this extra work, and it would make IWF not seem to be the great forum it is. They could just go to other forums and post, where they don’t have to tryout to be a BTB’er. How does this help IWF at all? It doesn’t.

Preventing people from doing something that they have every right to do really shouldn’t be done. A recent example of someone who started and sucked was The Small Show. I’m going out on a limb here and saying that he will improve, and end up being one of the better BTB’ers on the site. I know a lot of people will disagree. There are also people who join with no hope, like Nick2007. I don’t care if Nick reads this, I stand by my opinion. He is never going to amount to anything in writing BTB’s. It just won’t happen. But you can’t stop him from trying. That, as I have pointed out throughout the article, would be unfair. You just can’t tell how someone will turn out.

CMS Pay-Per-View Report
The Commencement's Wrestlemania 24

UPDATE5.png

I had to make a long line before being able to enter the Citrus Bowl. I finally managed to do so, the set up was amazing. If anyone was doubtful of how an event in a no roof arena would look like, then they were awful wrong. Pyros were amazing and then we went into the first bout of the match.

Cody Rhodes and JBL had a fun opening. JBL actually got some fans, I guess smarks, to cheer for him, and boo when Cody Rhodes were in offense. Everybody, including myself, were in shock by the Fallaway Slam, that is truly a cool move. Rhodes wins by a roll up.

Kim Kardashian is really hot, that’s all I am saying.

MITB was a spot fest, and nobody around me was sitting nor quiet at any moment in the match. These men put a hell of a contest. Jeff Hardy was received and kept the pop from virtually all the match. Everybody was a little shocked and off when MVP practically just got up no selling the Backstabber of Carlito, but the shockness factor grew with the whole Melina thing.

The Divas Match was good, in fact, it was really good. I do not consider myself a divas wrestling fan, but this match was the best divas match I have seen since Trish vs Mickie at Wrestlemania 22 two years ago. Beth Phoenix is truly big live and really, really powerful. Mickie had the people behind her and nailed some good moves, including one sick Implant DDT.

The Floyd/Burke promo was really used by some as a quick, very quick bathroom break. Nah, I am kidding, but truly, it made nothing to us, and a guy behind me was actually wondering why WWE would hire Floyd Mayweather to battle Elijah Burke, instead of you know, somebody important. I cannot agree more.

Then, a clear MOTN candidate. HBK vs CM Punk put a real wrestling clinic. They were great at No Way Out, but they outdo themselves. Match was divided between the two actually, and the ending was perfect, MR. Wrestlemania gets the victory but CM Punk gets the respect. BTW, we were in awe the entire match, it just kept going and going, kick out after kick out. And I have to say, HBK really puts out a show.

Sting vs Flair was a little slow, adapting to the last one style, however, it was truly emotional and entertaining as we all knew what it meant. I do not know if it was better than the Cena vs Flair at GAB last year, but, it was good nonetheless. Everyone was shocked when Flair tapped out, but we all cried, yes, cried, when he made his final way up the ramp.

Lita is hot. And he has great chemistry with Edge. The Undertaker’s entrance is great live. I got a little distracted in the match as a bald, fat guy next to me went all the match chanting “Hooo†to Lita, and I finally snapped and argued with him. From what I catch, that was virtually just the ending, it was a nice series, with Edge spearing Lita and Taker ending it all with a Tombstone. The streak lives on.

Floyd vs Burke, well, I am not lying, it was boring. A little confusing to everyone and not all managed to get into the Boxing gimmick of the match. Floyd got mixed reactions through the entire bout, and booed when the match ended. I hope Burke bounces back from this.

Edwards vs Mcmahon was an all out war, with the crowd more into the emotional, storyline factor of the contest than the greatness of it. James looked good, probably thanks to his wrestling background. Mcmahon coughing blood in the end was brutal and everyone was in shock when James won.

Cena vs Rock, well, was for the ages. People may bash John, but he always raises his game for this night and he did it again against The Rock. Rocky showed no ring rust and was…electrifying. Something funny I noticed was a kid with a Cena’s hat, but a T-shirt from The Rock. I was expecting John to win, but I did not see the STFU tapping ending coming. Nor some of others in attendance, that gave Cena his usual reception of booing him.

Triple H vs Orton was good. HHH tore the arena down match start to match ending, and it was good to see him back in a Wrestlemania event. Orton was on like any other match. Great set of counters and exchanges in this one, and a big pop from the crowd when The Game nailed the RKO, only outdo when he nailed the Pedigree.

Summarizing, Wrestlemania 24 was a hell of an event, worth every penny I paid, atmosphere was awesome and so was the matches, and I can say that I will be waiting anxiously for Backlash.

Well you seem pretty knowledgable so you could do a Booker to watch kind of Article where you talk about a good booker who is on the brink of greatness.

I just got two questions...

1. What parts are left to do because I am thinking of helping out.
2. With the PPV Report, CMS can you do more than one ppv because during the time of Anigma's WM ppv I and I think 3 other BTB's posted there ppv's too and its just not fair to just review the best ? I mean I can help with that if it does need any help but give me a pm or something to let me know incase I forget to come back here and check out if I have a job to do on the July Edition.....

Put me in with something like the fountain of knowledge.

I want to speak whatever I feel like speaking, so PM me any details and I'll write a good looking column with a lot of inside stories.

I'll definately check it out, since i'm doing an all-women's promotion as well. I just ask that you all give rblinker's promotion (and mine, btw, plug plug) a fair chance. Too many people are still going on with "meh, women's wrestling, this does not interest me", when if a women's promotion was booked right it could be the best thing you've ever seen. WWE is not booking the girls right, but rblinker on the other hand, might.
