So this is the idea, me or Viper will come up with a new thing for you all to debate every week. Also we could turn it into more of a contest in away where whoever has the best debate can get something that can be decided on later by me and Vipes. We're gonna try to drive a lot more discussion in this section and this is only the start, another thing will be coming up in a few days that I think you'll all enjoy.

The first topic will be up by tomorrow sometime and will go for the whole week. Hopefully this thread goes great and gets amazing feedback.

First debate topic of the week:
Is Curtis Axel The Next Breakout Star (word to NXT) or The Next Breakout Failure?

Let's discuss this bad boy. I'll give my thoughts later on. Heading to the cinemas in a few.

I believe Axel has all the tools and family traits that could help make him a star but just like everyone that comes through the door of any company (wwe, tna, roh, and whomever) it all depends on the writing and his ability to sell his character. Can he do that is the better question? While his father was a great asset to the companies he was in he also was not the best on the mic but was extremely solid in the ring. I actually like Curt's latter years on the mic around the time of the Rap is Crap crew the West Texas Rednecks and after since he seemed to be more comfortable on the mic and since he was already good in the ring it was a good time for him. Just my opinion.

Now where I think he's good enough to be a star, I don't trust WWE to handle his push right, maybe for a bit and he'll get a Intercontinental Title and hold it for a bit but then he'll fall back down. Only way he'll be a big star is if WWE can even be smart and push him right, but I've got no faith in WWE to do that because I mean they rarely get behind anyone or anything new anymore, Shield is the one thing they did out of what lately? Antonio, don't like him but he's good and he had a decent push for awhile, only to have a stupid gimmick now.

Well he has some talent and a good look needs to bulk up a little to get to the size his dad was. His mic skills are lacking but with Heyman by his side he really doesn't need any. I mean Perfect had Heenan and The Genius as his mouth pieces in the beginning. I think they want to push him and putting him with Heyman shows that they are serious. I mean I look at it like when they put Orton and Batista with HHH and Flair. Will he ever be as good as his dad? I doubt it but he could def be close. I am looking forward to it and have faith that he can shine now.

he's sound enough in ring that he was The Rock's training partner earlier in the year. And he's got Heyman at his side doing the promo work and drawing heat, so he's got a lot on his side. The booking hasn't been great so far, he's been thrown in the deep end and has understandably not convinced everyone yet.

If he's gonna be a star, as others have said, the booking is going to play a big part. He's yet to show that x-factor that says he'll be a star regardless of the issues around him, so all he can do now is keep his head down and just keep working hard.

Linebacker draws a fantastic point in that he's been thrown into matches against main event stars pretty soon. Didn't they do that a year ago with Tensai? It was only until a few months ago that he finally got over and cemented his status on the roster. We don't want to see Axel blow his load too soon.

A couple of technicality wins does nothing for nobody. Far too early to judge on his ability. Paired with Hey man is a huge opoertunity.

Alright, good first week, was decent but would love to see a bit more this week.

Anywa,y, this way we're gonna debate the PG Era, is it why the WWE is bad? Does it make it better in your opinion? Let's hear what you got to say!

With me I feel it's like this, if the writers was decent, they could get a great show even with the PG Rating, they've been plenty of good shows on TV that are PG rated, but I do see where if it wasn't PG the writers could maybe try a bit more if they was willing to, but I really still don't see it being that it's PG that it sucks, I mean it be nice if they could do more, but since that can't the writers need to buckle down and put forward a show that's PG and great, if they get unlazy they could so do it.

PG isn't the problem. Go see CHIKARA, PG wrestling can be done successfully with decent writing. That's what's wrong with the PG era, the writing is borderline pedestrian at this point.

I don't think its the pg era. I think its a lack of quality in there booking and story telling. I believe when Vince bought WCW his drive to he the best company left with that purchase. WWE lacks a decent competition in any company. As much as I love TNA they don't have the following to stay competitive with WWE right now. The only reason people look back at the Monday night wars and the Attitude era wasn't because it was great writing but because WWE had stiff competition in WCW. It wasn't until Vince was getting his ass kicked that he began to make his writers and bookers write some better stuff and he allowed certain people to try new things that got them over with the audience: ie the Rock and Stone Cold. They were the main two who helped to push WWE over WCW along with all the shitty booking at WCW and all the politicking going on.

It has nothing to do with the era at all. The 80's was a pg era if you look back at it and things are cyclical. Notice trends or fads come back every twenty years or so. If WWE is in a pg era I can see them upping the ante in a few mire years when their audience gets older and helps to usher in another era that is a little more edgy than what they have now.

I think there's one huge problem. I don't wanna go into a wrestling show thinking I can write a better wrestling product. Now how it's supposed to work so it's definitely not the PG rating. Like LB said, look at Chikara. PG can be done right. PG isn't exactly very limited these days. You can still have some blood (not much but some), a few weapons here and there if that's what tickles your fancy. So, it's by far the writing. But it ain't all bad. Obviously there are parts of the show that are just brilliant (see Angry Daniel Bryan and anything to do with The Shield).

So, yeah PG = Not so bad.
