And before that the party actually stood for something. But the pre-1930s days are over after FDR turned the Democratic party populist and began to win over minorities.

Indeed, and if that happens, it’ll prove what a lot of people are saying now that Trump doesn’t care about the party at all. Only himself. He wouldn’t have announced this early either if he wasn’t trying to scare Ron off.

Pretty sure I’ve been saying this about him for awhile now, in this thread even like awhile ago. He cares about himself and his ego, and does whatever he can to stroke it and people eat it up as if he actually gives a damn about anyone other than himself

We can disagree. But as someone that has been a conservative and seen how many younger conservatives lambasted the establishment Republicans for not making culture a bigger part of the platform, I disagree.

Trump came out and made everything about the establishment, liberals, media, immigration, etc.

There’s a difference between Fox News and GOP platforms. I don’t believe McCain or Romney ran culture war campaigns at all. But yeah, agree to disagree.

I will say the history of the inner machinations of both the Democrats and Republicans is fascinating to say the least for just how much those party evolved in the 20th Century into their current incarnations. And it all was thanks to a guy by the name of Theodore Roosevelt.

] fwiw i can relate to the upper stuff. ive been dealing with condescending cons my whole life and being called a f** , a vegan treehugging drug addict, delusional, not living in reality, etc etc etc. So I can certainly relate to being type cast by members of the other caste. its never cool and I regret judging before asking questions every time i do it. i will also agree with you that the trump attack on media especially has been extremely damaging. I really don't think people understand the amount of damage he's done in 4+ years @Hayterade . cant quote u, too many words for chat

This is why I’m not into leaning heavy into collectivism.

I didn’t even like using the term conservative because it had such negative collectivist connotations. I was always into right on some issues, the left on others. People fucking hate the term centrist with a passion though so I just said fuck it and used conservative because it aligns with most of my government positions, but always said never socially conservative because fuck that noise.

Not everyone is gonna lineup 100% with their side. It’s crazy when you get attacked for swaying differently.

A lot that stuff you describe sounds like gaslighting. That’s harsh, man. I disagree with stuff you and Grim believe, but attacking your mind and not your stance is never the answer and it never leads to resolving conflicts.

pretty fine line too because really the US should concede nothing and neither should Ukraine (from their pov). Russia also is too all in to give up at this point outside of Putin getting an unfortunate fall from a tall building. its gonna be tighter sanctions and better weapons at a slow rate especially since Russia is losing ground. I don't really expect the US to escalate at all here
