It has looked like more like a Zombie movie than a Zombie game to me from the start. I didn't care much for Dead Island but that felt like a normal leveling up game in a Zombie-infested world.

I'll wait until my Cousin picks this up and plays through it then I'll borrow it from him.

It's really the opposite of Uncharted. There's not a ton of crazy platforming and for the most part there's not a lot of huge firefights. There's a lot of strategy involved in how you approach combat you can go in a use your guns but ammo is scarce....so going in stealth style is often the ideal approach or bypassing enemies altogether. Like I said earlier the story and just the shear awesomeness of the environments makes this game....the Winter portion of the game impaticualr was just amazing. About to start my second play through of the game and that's something I never do so it says something about the quality.

So the gameplay is nothing like Uncharted then? Does it atleast control like Uncharted, or did they create a brand new engine for the game?

The general gameplay is like Uncharted with going into cover and gun combat.

This game is nothing like Uncharted. You can't pop in and out of cover. It is more like Hitman Absolution.

This game us unreal. All the strategy involved has me engaged moreso than a straight up shooter. The way you approach combat and how you plan to kill everybody is what makes this game a step above others. Sometimes you have the patience to go around and kill everybody 1 by 1, and other times you go in there guns blazing. The survival aspect of the game is awesome. If you aren't properly prepared you will die heaps.

I am glad I get a chance to play this tomorrow when my cousin comes in, since nobody here can agree on a straight fucking answer.

He forgot to bring it in the one day, and now I am just waiting to see him again and hopefully try it out. I cant see myself paying the price they are asking for, for a game I am unsure of.

I'm trying to write a review of this at the moment. I finished The Last of Us a few days ago and it's one of the best games this year imo. It's still got faults mostly in the gameplay, the crux of the action is stealth and makes a couple of key mistakes stealth games shouldn't make in its attempt to be realistic. For example there are no markers and once you enter combat it isn't always clear where the exit is (for me and some others it seems) when you'd prefer to slip by the enemy or are low on supplies. Occasionally you'll be required to take down all enemies before continuing without the game telling you, and it lacks the feedback most other stealth games have to let you know you're visible or being spotted.

I admit it's genuinely immersive and oppressive but it's also a particularly frustrating kind of difficult. The kind where sometimes you'll wanna throw the controller and yell "How the fuck was I suppose to know!?".

Like I said though, it's still a really impressive game overall, the story is worth experiencing and worth revisiting. Almost every twist or road bump actually got me and the cutscenes do a lot to add tension to the proceeding gameplay. By the end, there's a dilemma that brings into question the morality of at least one of the two lead characters and an interesting disconnect beteen player and protagonist.

Wait for a price drop if you have to but do check out The Last of Us. The frustrations in gameplay aren't deal breakers and the game's story is carefully paced with a head full of ideas.
