Io vs. Utami would be a money match
That works as well, and you could build off the fact that Io is disappointed in Momo for turning her back to QQ.The first feud I was thinking of would be Momo Watanabe. Former Leaders of Queen's Quest and Io took her in like Hazuki and AZM and helped them become even better Wrestlers for Stardom.
That works as well, and you could build off the fact that Io is disappointed in Momo for turning her back to QQ.
Indeed it would be interesting to see what Io we get if she does return to Stardom. Would it be the Joshi Judas we've seen in NXT the past few Years or a blend of what she was before she left Stardom in the first place. Speaking about Stardom who is the Skelton person who has choked out Rossy multiple times, Saya, and now SK?
Meanwhile in Japan: Wondering What it Takes to be Champion?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first in what I hope to be a bit of a mini-series of matches. Cali Hayama, in between her trying to stomp people's head in AMA, she wrestles primarily for CJW, Cosmic Joshi Wrestling in Japan. The Asian-Canadian has learned a lot there where she hopes to apply it in America, but what happens in one place may affect her in the other. You have seen some of her friends in MAYHEM, but how is she in matches? She is already one-third of the Trios Champions (AND NO FUCKING WAY AM I WRITING MANY TRIOS MATCHES! THEY ARE A PAIN!) but what about some of her other signature singles and tag matches? This will give you guys a little treat in between shows when I have time and I hope you enjoy. Also, feel free to comment below your thoughts on the match and the characters I create as Cali's opponents!
So, what is the match?
Road to Queen’s Odyssey Night Two
From Ota City General Gymnasium in Ota, Tokyo, Japan
CJW Intergalactic Cosmic Championship Match
Challenger: Cali Hayama vs Champion: Rin Tsukiyama
Now, who is Rin Tsukiyama?
One of the pillars of the company and the unofficial leader of the companies group of lovable heroes, Cosmica, meet The Wondergirl, Rin Tsukiyama. In her late 20's and wrestling since she was 16, Rin is already a decorated champion and some consider her to be a future legend! Two times she held the main prize in the company, the Universe of Cosmic Championship, but also has a history with a title that is a close second, the Intergalactic Cosmic title, currently in her third reign. This bubbly and colourful hero has shown herself to be full of heart in the ring and a top tier fighter when pushed against the wall. This will be for certain one of Cali Hayama's toughest challenges in her career. The Slayer-Queen has one victory over her in a recent Trios title match, pinning one of Rin's partners off a Cyber Driver '99, and being that she won't be in an upcoming major tournament, she used that as her chance to get more gold in Japan as she threw out the challenge. Rin Tsukiyama accepted but despite her recent win, Cali Hayama is easily the underdog in the fight. Can the Gaijin-Joshi of MAYHEM punch above her weight and get to the next level in CJW?
We are joined in Ota City General Gymnasium in Ota, Tokyo, Japan and the arena is set up for a Cosmic Joshi Wrestling show, with the event getting close to its main event. The stage is set up with banners of each of the company’s main factions. Cosmica, MAYHEM, SIN, Marvelous, Royal Dojo, and Shi-No-Gun along with a couple screens and a metal frame near the entranceway and lights. The ring has a white canvas featuring the promotions logo, a purple planet with rings along with stars and the name of the company in both English and Japanese. The ropes are purple as well with the traditional boxing like corner pads for Japan, two white corners and a red and blue corner. Between the barricades we see some commentary tables with those signature near unbreakable Japanese tables, and we zoom in one the English commentary table where we have two people. First is a man in a suit and the other a woman in a dress. They have masks on and headsets on as they speak.
O’Connell: Ladies and gentlemen thank you once again for watching around the world, night Two of Road to Queen’s Odyssey. I’m James O’Connell alongside my colleague, the first non-Japanese woman to hold the Universe of Cosmic Champion, Stephanie Starr, and our main event, perhaps the second biggest prize in CJW is on the line. Rin Tsukiyama defends her Intergalactic Cosmic Championship against one third of the CJW Trios Champions, Cali Hayama of MAYHEM.
Starr: One of my last matches as an active competitor was against Rin and she has been one of the pillars of CJW for the past six years for a reason. She is perhaps one of the best wrestlers on the planet, man or woman. But Cali, though she didn’t pin the champion herself, does have a win in a recent Trios title match against her which she has used to give herself a chance to fight for the title.
O’Connell: Because Cali Hayama is traveling a lot between here and America, she is not competing in the upcoming Queen’s Odyssey tournament, but still sees herself with a chance to get her first singles gold in what is her first main event opportunity in CJW.
Starr: She was personally recruited for MAYHEM by our current Universe of Cosmic Champion, Saori Suzuki who has been one of Rin Tsukiyama’s biggest rivals over the past couple of years. Cali has shown herself to be a young star on the rise and even though we know there are no seconds tonight, I am sure Saori Suzuki was willing to give her advice on facing the toughest opponent of her career. Can her guidance lead her to an upset win?
The lights dim as the opening to Cali Hayama’s CJW theme begins. After about ten seconds, the lights flash in neon colours in tune with the music at to get the build up. Then we finally see Cali Hayama make her way out. With her usual black and neon look, we see her wear a black and silver jacket which is a loose fit on her. Around her waist is her CJW Trios Championship which stands out with its pink strap. She hops in place before kneeling down as smoke shoots up on the side of her. Pointing her finger like a gun, there is a confident smirk on her face before she hops up and makes her way down the ramp which is covered by a violet carpet.
O’Connell: Cali Hayama, Next-Level, the Slayer-Queen, has her eggs in multiple baskets right now, competing here where she has proved herself to be part of a tremendous trio with her, Ririko, and Vampiress, already breaking the record for longest Trios reign, and competing in Against Medical Advice Wrestling in the United States where she won her first match, a Bunkhouse Stampede of all things, and is set to have a match against Marquise Bridges at their St Patrick’s Day Smash event.
Starr: Working a schedule like she’s doing is a double-edged sword. On one hand, you have the chance to compete against a variety of competition and really have a chance to grow more, but with the extra travel, the matches, you can wear yourself thin. People have really hyped her as potentially the best up-and-coming foreign star here, but she still has a way to go, but her beating modern day legend in the making tonight can be just what she needs to rocket herself to the next-level she talks about and give MAYHEM the top two singles prizes in Cosmic Joshi.
As the Slayer-Queen heads down the rampway, she looks around at the crowd. Her biggest match in Japan since her arrival, and much like her debut in AMA, she is the theoretical underdog. Going up the steps in the middle, Cali Hayama hops on the apron before leaping over the top rope and rushes towards the other side of the ring. Hooking her leg on the top rope, she holds up her stables signature “M” hand gesture and smirks. Hoping off the ropes, she heads to her corner where she stretches as her theme music fades away.
The upbeat tunes of “Wonderland” plays as the lights of the arena switch to a pastel coloured medley of blues, pinks, and yellow. The Intergalactic Cosmic Champion herself makes her way out with a blue and pink tiger mask, and a robe with matching colours and tassels. We see the championship around her waist with its main plate having some inspiration from the company’s logo and on a white strap. She bops around to her music before putting one hand up with a “C” and the other grabbing her elbow. Some smoke appears as the fans give an electric response to the popular star, giving applause. Rin Tsukiyama removes her mask to show her blonde locks and face paint with whiskers on it. Wondergirl gives a grin before making her way down the ramp for another big match.
O’Connell: Defense number three for Rin Tsukiyama of what is now her third reign with the Intergalactic Cosmic Champion and even though she had a massive year-plus long run with the Universe of Cosmic Championship, she has quickly added her own legacy with this championship and said from the start, she wants to be the bridge from the present and the future of CJW.
Starr: And she has made it a priority to face Cali Hayama, a protege of one of her biggest rivals, one she has had a moral disagreement with, but respects as a competitor. Remember, before Cali Hayama accepted her invitation into MAYHEM, Rin Tsukiyama along with the rest of Cosmica extended an offer to her as well, but we know the result. This is really the chance now to show who was right in that decision.
On her way down the ramp, the lovable Rin Tsukiyama waves to the crowd and bears a big grin on her face while Cali Hayama, trying to get focused on her match ahead, continues to pace and stretch in the ring, keeping her best poker face about her. A couple of young wrestlers at ringside hold down the ropes as Rin heads up the middle steps and goes into the ring. Going to the corner turnbuckles, the Wondergirl hops up on the middle ropes and repeats her pose from the ramp, this time holding up her mask in her hand. Jumping down from the ropes, her theme music fades away and the match ceremony begins.
In the ring, a man in a suit approaches the Intergalactic Cosmic Champion and Rin respectfully takes off her championship belt and hands it to the man who is one of the heads of the company. In the middle of the ring, he holds the championship waist high, facing the camera while both competitors stand next to him. Cali Hayama removes her Trios title from her waist and keeps it on her shoulder while she does the MAYHEM “M” and Rin Tsukiyama repeats her own signature pose. There is the sound of pictures being taken while the audience does a respectful clap. Then, after the ceremony, the ring announcer, a woman in a stunning Kimono, speaks.
Ring Announcer: (Tonight’s Main event match is a Sixty minute time limit match for the Intergalactic Cosmic Championship!)
The fans do a respectful clap as she introduces the challenger first.
Ring Announcer: (Introducing the challenger from MAYHEM. CJW Trios Champion, Next-Level…)
Right as Cali’s name is about to be announced, she heads towards the ropes and holds up her CJW Trios Championship.
Ring Announcer: (Hayama Kaaaaarrri!)
The fans give her applause, showing some appreciation and support for this big opportunity in her career. Cali Hayama hands her championship to an attendee at ringside after getting off the ropes. She removes her jacket as the announcer gets to the champion.
Ring Announcer: (Introducing the Intergalactic Cosmic Champion. From Cosmica, Wondergirl…)
The defending champion stands in the middle of the ring and readies her pose.
Ring Announcer: (Tsukiyama Riiiiiiiin!)
And the champion removes her elaborate robe to show her colourful attire filled with blues, whites, pinks, and yellow along with a small cat tail connected to her belt. The referee wearing a black polo shirt with a mask and the company’s logo on it checks both competitors quickly for weapons. After the all clear is given, he signals for the bell to ring and perhaps the biggest match of Cali Hayama’s career so far begins.
Circling each other, Cali Hayama is light on her feet, hopping as she moves while Rin Tsukiyama, more experienced of the two, remains calm, doing a small clap to get the crowd invested. There is a collar and elbow tie up and the champion goes for a side headlock. The Slayer-Queen tries to push Tsukiyama off her, but the champion keeps the headlock on tight, almost sliding as she does. She grins, getting a bit playful with her less experienced opponent. Looking for something to get a hold of, Cali Hayama pulls on the cat tail attached to her opponent’s belt and the tug distracts the champion long enough for the nimble Gaijin-Joshi to pull her down with an arm drag.
O’Connell: Cali Hayama, although a bit off the wall, she got out of the hold.
Starr: Rin always has had a thing for cats… Though that little tail on her attire always seems to fall or be pulled by people in her matches.
Keeping on Cali Hayama, Rin Tsukiyama goes for a second lock up and a more frustrated Cali Hayama just quickly overpowers her, pushing her towards the ropes. The referee calls for a break and Cali obliges before slapping the champion, causing a gasp from the fans…
O’Connell: And a slap from the brash challenger and…
And the champion just grins.
Starr: Yep, same old Rin.
Before Cali Hayama reacts, the Wondergirl chops her across the chest with a loud slap! She quickly grabs Cali by the arm and wrenches, heading to the ropes and following through with an arm drag! Rolling through on the landing, Cali Hayama gets to her feet and… looks at the champion with her tongue in her cheek. Perplexed.
Starr: Cali Hayama is getting her first big taste of a true singles spotlight in CJW and is against one of the premier stars in the entire country. She has to know that the Rin Tsukiyama isn’t phased easily, especially by something so simple. She has a heart of gold, and an iron will.
O’Connell: Excellent point, Steph. For Cali to win here would not be the largest upset we have seen. She’s shown herself capable, but Rin Tsukiyama isn’t some mid-boss, she’s one of the final bosses in CJW to use a metaphor fitting of Cali.
Smiling at Cali, Rin Tsukiyama holds her fists up, ready for a fight and the challenger does the first move, kicking the champion in the thigh! There is a small wince from Rin, but she grins and fires back a harder kick to Cali Hayama’s chest, dropping her down. Cali Hayama quickly gets to her feet, frustrated and does a kick in response, almost matching Tsukiyama’s intensity with a kick of her own to her chest. The reigning Intergalactic Cosmic Champion steps back from the hard shot and Cali Hayama responds with a clothesline, but Rin ducks and forces Cali over the top rope! Being as agile as she is, Cali Hayama lands on the apron and is ready. The next kick from the Wondergirl is caught from Cali and she does a rope assisted dragon screw on the champion’s leg!
O’Connell: Smart, taking advantage of the circumstances, Cali jams her knee on the ropes!
Starr: Taking Rin Tsukiyama down for the three is no easy task but there are multiple ways to do it. We’ve seen different body parts of her being targeted before like the legs to take her striking and high-flying down, or even her arms to prevent her from locking her hands on Rin’s Cradle-Plex. But that is only one idea and if Cali Hayama sees more damage done on the leg, she may have her target.
Rin Tsukiyama hops after her knee gets twisted and the athletic gamer, Cali Hayama readies herself on the apron. She launches herself through the air and hits a springboard dropkick! Cali kips up…
And so does the Champion!
Cali Hayama blinks, looking at Rin who shakes her leg out and smiles, gesturing for Cali to give her the best shot she can.
O’Connell: And that is what you’re talking about Stephanie, the champion isn’t phased at all!
Showing a giant smile on her face, the Intergalactic Cosmic Champion gestures towards Cali Hayama, shouting at her in Japanese to bring her best. A frustrated Cali hits a short-arm forearm and then a kick to her stomach. The champion smirks, but then suddenly, Cali Hayama sweeps the legs and does a Penalty Kick to her opponent’s chest! There is no smile as Rin Tsukiyama is hit hard. Running off the ropes, Cali Hayama tries for an even bigger PK, but the champion dodges the kick and quickly picks the Asian-Canadian Baddie up for a scoop slam, dropping her to the mat. She does a quick pin.
One
And not nearly enough as Cali Hayama quickly gets to her feet again. Rin follows with a knee to the gut and Irish whips Cali across the ring. The champion leapfrogs the challenger, follows with a drop down, then on the third go around hits a signature dropkick to the chest! The impact causes Cali Hayama to roll backwards and the champion is showing she can manage Cali’s pace. Tsukiyama runs off the ropes and does a flying headscissors on Cali Hayama and quickly transitions to a Russian Leg Sweep, snapping her head back!
Topping off the flurry, Rin Tsukiyama heads to the top rope and balances herself. She claps to get the fans behind her as she jumps through the air and hits a crossbody! She goes for an immediate pin!
One
T-
And no, the challenger stays in the match as Cali Hayama kicks out. Sitting up, Cali Hayama mutters something under her breath and pounds the mat with her fist.
O’Connell: Beautiful Crossbody from the champion and she is in control!
Starr: Cali Hayama is getting frustrated right now and that isn’t the right headspace to be in right now. She knew this match was going to be tough and she was going to be fighting from underneath at some point.
As Cali Hayama tries to get her bearings after the snappy Russian Leg-Sweep, Rin Tsukiyama claps with the crowd and pushes Cali Hayama into the corner and hits a short clothesline… and another, and another as the fans clap in rhythm with her clotheslines. Rin winds up for one more big corner clothesline and hits Cali Hayama full force in the corner! The Slayer-Queen stumbles towards the middle of the ring and the fans clap for the fan favourite, Rin Tsukiyama.
O’Connell: Rin Tsyukiyama commanding the crowd!
Starr: Cali has been growing in the eyes of the fans, but she is nowhere near the status of Tsukiyama. Genuinely few in this command the crowd like her and it can turn any environment hostile against her opponent.
Winding up for one more big clothesline, Tsukiyama runs off the ropes…
And Cali Hayama ducks backwards from it, being on her hands like a spider!
O’Connell: JEEZ
Starr: …Yeah I was never that flexible in my career.
The Slayer Queen waves and quickly spins back up, dropping the Intergalactic Cosmic Champion with a calf kick!
Building up her first true burst of momentum in the match, Cali Hayama quickly Irish whips Rin Tsukiyama in a corner and runs with a forearm! She keeps the champion trapped in the corner and now it is her chance to rain down strikes. She claps as she kicks her in the ribs multiple times, trying to get inside the champion’s head, and finally she backs up. Pulling Rin out of the corner, Cali grabs her opponent by the wrist and runs up the ropes. Taking a couple steps while balancing, she jumps off and hits a rope-assisted hurricanrana!
O’Connell: There is the athleticism by Cali Hayama! From an athletic standpoint, she is probably the biggest stand out today in wrestling!
Rin is seated after the big hurricanrana and is a bit surprised after Cali Hayama caught her off-guard with her dodge. Following through, Cali runs off the ropes and the Slayer Queen shows some potential as a Soccer player with a big PK to the chest! She covers the champion.

Tw-
And Rin Tsukiyama pushes her challenger off, keeping her title. Waiting to decide what is next, Cali Hayama quickly applies a side-headlock and forearms the Wondergirl in the face. Rin gets to her feet and pushes Cali Hayama towards the ropes. Using them for momentum, she pushes Cali off and she darts towards the ropes! Tsukiyama tries to meet her in the middle of the ring but Hayama rolls to the side to dodge! Once again surprised, Rin tries for another big strike with a superkick, but Cali slides under her leg. Turning around, Tsukiyama is met with Cali Hayama’s heel striking her stomach off a spinning kick! After the kick, Cali goes low and picks the champion up, bridging off a Northern Lights Suplex, a move that she would be hard pressed to do in AMA!

Two-
And the champion stays in it.
Starr: Finally Cali is getting something to go her way in this match for a consistent period of time and that is due to that speed we talked about. She kept light on her feet and just evaded again and again until she had an opening.
Keeping the champion grounded, Cali Hayama rolls Rin to her stomach and applies a crossface! She elbows her in the back of the head before locking the hold in fully and Cali tries to continue to control the pace of the match, slowing it down when she needs to, and then using her speed at key moments to catch the champion off guard.
The referee of the match, keeping close, asks the champion if she gives, but Rin Tsukiyama, ever the heart of a champion, shakes her head “No” and tries to move her body. Eventually, she shifts her weight where Cali’s shoulders are on the mat! The Slayer Queen quickly lets go and scrambles. Quickly springing up, Tsukiyama jumps and wraps her legs around the head of Cali for a hurricanrana! Cali rolls to the ropes and the reigning Intergalactic Cosmic champion quickly hits a hard dropkick to the chest and Hayama is forced to roll to the outside!
A couple of the younger training wrestlers check on Cali, as per tradition, and the Slayer Queen pushes them aside as she tries to gather herself. Trying to keep on her challenger, Rin Tsyukiyama heads to the apron and readies herself. As Hayama turns around, it is too late as Rin springboards off the middle rope and hits a moonsault to the outside, taking out Cali and a couple trainees in the process!
O’Connell: Top tier moonsault from Rin Tsyukiyama! Easily one of the best moonsaults in the game today!
Starr: She has a great ability to hit that from anywhere, especially her Cutest Moonsault Ever which I have felt before. She always gets such great air on it and moves with grace.
Getting to her feet, Rin Tsukiyama claps as the fans give applause from the amazing moonsault. She gets Cali Hayama back to her feet and rolls her back in the ring. Rin joins her… just as Cali Hayama rolls back to the apron.
O’Connell: Rin, trying to get Cali back into the ring, but the challenger isn’t having any of it.
Starr: I think she’s just trying to buy more time to gather herself.
Showing a smirk, Rin wags her finger playfully, she steps onto the apron to pull Cali back to her feet, but the young challenger hits a forearm! The champion grins and responds with one of her own, and another! She isn’t phased by it! Cali Hayama stumbles back as Rin Tsyukiyama tries to grab her… and Cali quickly spins herself between the ropes and is now behind the champion! Before Rin can even react, Cali Hayama pushes her shoulder first into the ring post!
O’Connell: Jeez! Creative dodge from Cali Hayama!
Starr: We’ve seen this before, Cali using her movement to get around easier.
Holding onto the post with her other arm, Rin Tsukiyama doesn’t fall, but winces as her shoulder meets sharp metal. Seeing a chance to do a big move, Cali Hayama pulls on the tail on Rin’s costume and gets her in a waist lock…
And she does a German Suplex onto the apron! Rin Tsukiyama flips over, landing hard on her neck and shoulder and crashes to the outside!
O’Connell: GERMAN SUPLEX ONTO THE APRON BY CALI HAYAMA!
Starr: That right there has just shifted the match!
Sitting up on the apron, Cali Hayama looks down to the outside floor and the fans are in shock. Cali Hayama, with championship aspirations, has taken it up a level. The referee quickly heads outside to check on Rin after the hard landing. Giving him space to check, Cali Hayama rolls back into the ring before the official gives the green light to continue and rolls back in the ring as Rin Tsukiyama struggles to her feet. Cali looks at the distance and casually points to her opponent on the outside, the fans know exactly what Cali is going to do next. Darting off the far ropes, Cali Hayama dives between the middle and bottom rope and hits a suicide dive! The impact dives Rin into one the English commentator’s tables on the outside and it flips backwards!
O’Connell: Jesus!
Starr: Whoa! Hey! This isn’t the Spanish announce table!
The English commentators nearly fall in the chairs as they push their table off them and Cali slowly gets up.
O’Connell: Check one, check two, do we still have a signal?
Starr: We’re good, nothing seems to be broken.
O’Connell: That big dive from Cali to the outside launched Rin into our table.
Starr: The speed Cali gets on her dives is something. Sometimes it isn’t just about the size of the person diving, but it is about the speed and accuracy, and Cali’s an expert at that.
Looking at the table near her, Cali gets an idea. Folding the legs, Cali asks “Can I borrow this?” to the English commentary and she drags it on top of Rin Tsukiyama.
O’Connell: No, we need our table…
Starr: James, how many years have you done this? That won’t help at all.
Getting onto the apron, Cali Hayama backs up and gets a wicked smirk on her face. She points her finger sideways like a gun and runs, jumping through the air and stomping on top of the table, pushing its weight on Rin Tsukiyama and even causing a hole!
O’Connell: Big double stomp onto and THROUGH the table!
Starr: Told you. Looks like we’re not getting the deposit on that table back.
Pulling the table off Rin, Cali Hayama looks at the hole she made through it and sticks her head in the opening, sticking her tongue out, before tossing it away. Picking a dazed Rin Tsukiyama off the ground, she pushes her back in the ring and goes for the cover.
One
Two-
And the champion gets her shoulder up, wincing as she does and even holds the top of her shoulder next to her neck. Between the big stomp and the German on the apron, her neck and shoulder are aching. Picking her off the mat, Cali Hayama quickly locks in a standing Octopus Stretch, targeting the neck and arm!
Starr: Smart by Cali, she noticed Rin’s arm and neck are damaged and is targeting it.
O’Connell: But what will be the advantage for her in the match?
Starr: Either one being hurt will limit Rin Tsukiyama’s offense. There are a lot of bridging moves here which all require great neck strength and even arm strength to keep an opponent tied up. Think her Regal-plex, Rin’s Cradle. Doing that will be harder now.
The referee once again asks the champion if she is going to quit and the heart-filled Wondergirl keeps in the match. The fans clap, trying to urge on their hero and with her free arm, she pushes Cali’s leg off and gets out of the hold…
And Cali Hayama quickly kicks her in the gut and lifts her up, dropping her with a Brainbuster! Once again targeting the neck! Seeing Rin’s position in the ring, Cali Hayama springboards off the middle rope and hits a moonsault! She hooks the leg, pressing down Tsukiyama’s good shoulder.
One
Two
And the Wondergirl kicks out, forced to use her bad shoulder to kick out!
O’Connell: Beautiful Brainbuster and Moonsault combination, but that won’t be enough for Cali.
Starr: At the beginning, Cali was getting out-matched, but thanks to that german suplex on the apron, she has completely shifted the match.
O’Connell: And that is sort of the M.O of MAYHEM, flash, but they get down and dirty when needed.
Shrugging, Cali Hayama doesn’t let the kickout bother her and she lightly kicks her boot in Rin’s face, trying to get under the skin of the defending champion. Pulling Tsukiyama to her feet, Cali pushes her into the corner and stomps her chest. Grabbing the wrist of the champion, Cali Hayama Irish whips her across the ring and follows through with a dropkick in the corner! Rin Tsukiyama stumbles forward and Cali Hayama runs off the ropes and hits a big running Blockbuster!
O’Connell: Nerf This Buster!!!
Cali Hayama pins Rin down, practically folding Rin in half.
One
Two
T-
And Rin Tsukiyama kicks out of the move that was a difference maker for Cali Hayma in the Bunkhouse Stampede!
O’Connell: I can’t believe it! This match has been all Cali since the stuff on the outside, and yet, Tsukiyama kicks out.
Starr: I say this and I am 100% serious, Rin Tsukiyama has more heart than anyone in wrestling. Full-stop. Cali Hayama has been giving her more than she, or anyone thought she’d do, and that is saying a lot, but she will stay in this match until her body gives up. That is how much she cares about being a fighting champion.
Balling her hand into a fist, now a hint of frustration is coming to Cali. But, she tries to keep her composure. Pulling Rin to her feet in a front facelock, Cali tries for a neckbreaker, but the champion spins out and lifts her boot up, catching Cali in the chin! Then the Slayer-Queen quickly responds with a spinning backfist, dropping Tsukiyama to a knee! Not enough. Cali runs off the ropes and tries for a big move, but suddenly, Rin springs to lift and catches her with a beautiful tilt-a-whirl backbreaker!
O’Connell: Backbreaker! Rin Tsukiyama finally catches her!
Starr: And this may be a chance for Rin to get something together and get back in this match firmly.
Shaking the feeling back in her arm, the fan-favourite rallies the fans behind her and hits a clothesline on Cali with her good arm! Running off the ropes, Rin follows it with a running dropkick! The impact causes Cali Hayama to roll through. Frustrated, Hayama runs at Rin only to get caught and slammed down with a scoop slam! With a springboard of her own, Rin Tsukiyama jumps through the air and hits a spinning springboard leg drop on Cali Hayama! She goes for the cover.
One
Two-
And now Cali Hayama is on the backfoot as she has to kick out.
O’Connell: I will never get tired of seeing that leg drop from Rin Tsukiyama, and even though it didn’t get the three, finally things are changing for the champion.
Realizing she may need to end this match quickly, Rin grabs Cali Hayama in a waist-lock and tries for her capture suplex, Rin’s Cradle. The Wondergirl tries to grab Cali’s leg, but the challenger, weary of the move, breaks free and she quickly switches and gets behind the champion! She tries for another big German Suplex, but Rin keeps her feet firmly planted. Cali forearms the champion in the back and tries again, getting Rin up… and using her momentum…
Rin Tsukiyama gets onto Cali’s shoulders and flips backwards hitting a spiking inverted Frankenstiener!
O’Connell: WONDERSPIKE! WONDERSPIKE!
Starr: The angle she just landed on her head!
Cali rolls to the mat in a complete daze as the Intergalactic Champion goes for the pin, hooking the leg.
One
Two
Thr-
No!
Cali Hayama pushes Rin Tsukiyama off before three and her championship hopes remain alive!
O’Connell: The champion nearly retained there!
Starr: That was a beautiful counter from Rin, just remembering the German suplex from earlier and this time using the momentum from it into her Wonderspike, really giving Cali a taste of her own medicine.
Both women are now holding the back of their necks after big moves and a dazed Cali Hayama tries to pull herself up by the ropes. Sensing a chance to keep her momentum going, Rin Tsukiyama runs off the far ropes and hits a Tiger Feint Kick in the ropes! Cali flies backwards and the defending champion rallies her supporters on who clap. Readying herself, Rin jumps through the air with a springboard dropkick! Cali once again rolls through on the impact and Rin Tsukiyama runs and hits a forearm smash, dropping Cali…
But she holds her arm and shakes it. Realizing she may need to switch up, she hits a forearm smash with her other hand and Cali responds with a jumping knee! Rin stumbles back to the ropes and Cali charges…
And the champion ducks, forcing Cali over the ropes! The Slayer-Queen lands on her feet but is met with a Superkick! Now Hayama is barely holding on as Rin Tsukiyama springboards and hits a triangle dropkick, finally dropping Cali!
Fired up, Rin Tsukiyama pounds the mat with her hand and readies herself near the ropes. As soon as Cali is at her feet, the defending champion leaps through the air with a springboard crossbody to the outside!
O’Connell: Beautiful! Beautiful high risk move that pays off!
Starr: The better she keeps on top of Cali Hayama, the better chance she has of putting this match away. Don’t give her space to move as freely as she can.
Breathing heavily, this match has turned into a fight for Rin Tsukiyama and this relative newcomer to CJW in Cali has given her a lot more than she probably expected. She pushes Cali into the ring and this time makes sure she stays in the ring. Putting Cali’s head between her legs, a big time powerbomb is coming. She wrenches Cali Hayama by the gut and it takes two attempts for Cali to be lifted up.. And the Gaijin-Joshi immediately hits a bionic elbow! Rin staggers before Cali Hayam drives her face first into the mat with an X-Factor!
O’Connell: Facebuster out of the powerbomb!
Starr: Rin Tsukiyama just was too tired to hit a big power move like that and…
Frustrated, Cali stomps Rin in the head and pulls her up. She tries to wrap one of Rin’s arms around her and tries to hook the other-
O’Connell: Hold that thought! Cyber Driver! Cyber Driver ‘99 coming!
A move that Cali has only really used in Japan, Cali Hayama is trying to get Rin’s arms secure for a big time Crucufix Driver, but Rin elbows her in the gut and pushes her closer to the ropes…
And Cali just hits a double axe-handle to the back and pounds away on her head!
Starr: Cali Hayama is not letting Rin Tsukiyama out! She is going to hit the move whether she wants it or not…
Finally, Cali gets the arm hooked and lifts Rin up falling back and driving her head first into the mat with her crucifix driver!
O’Connell: CYBER DRIVER ‘99!!!
She keeps Rin in a pin and the official counts!

And the official quickly waves off the pin as he looks up to see…
Rin’s leg hooked on the middle rope! Cali looks up and just collapses in disappointment. She forgot to hook the other leg.
O’Connell: I can’t believe it! Rin just barely gets her leg on the ropes!
Starr: Genuinely, her just trying to fight out of it, pushing Cali Hayama away from the centre of the ring saved her. That Cyber Driver ‘99 is what Cali used to get the pinfall in that Trios title match!
O’Connell: And really, adding that as an extra trick up her sleeve along with the Skull Cracker and her Octoling Submission has really given her extra tools to put someone away.
Starr: And you haven’t really seen her do that much, if at all, in the United States because there she wrestles men and women almost equally, so she is usually at a size disadvantage and can’t hit it.
Holding the back of her neck, Rin Tsukiyama, despite getting out of the pin, is in a bad way. That move dropped her right on her previously targeted neck.
Breathing heavily, Cali Hayama grabs Rin Tsukiyama by her blonde air… and slaps her. The official warns her and Cali shrugs before kicking her in the face. The challenger has the champion down, and she is just toying with her while she catches her breath. Grabbing her by her hair again, she picks her up and does an even harder slap! She yells at her in Japanese “(You are not on my level!)” and Rin forearms her!
O’Connell: Don’t anger the champion! Rin Tsukiyama has some claws to her!
Getting up, Rin hits a second and a third…
Cali catches it and pulls her in for a double knee arm breaker!
Starr: Yeah, well Cali’s trying to declaw her now. First the neck, and now the arm, again.
On her knees, Rin Tsukiyama winces as her arm gets nearly taken out of its socket and Cali, seeing some space, runs behind her and handsprings off the ropes behind her and hits a handspring enzugiri to the back of the head! Rolling Rin Tsukiyama over, she does another pin attempt.

And once again Rin Tsukiyama just barely gets the shoulder up.
O’Connell: All heart from Rin!
The fans clap, appreciating the match they have in front of them and Cali Hayama, drags Tsukiyama to her feet and knees her in the gut. Looking at her position in the ring, Cali quickly runs to the top rope! Flipping backwards, Cali rolls for a Whisper in the Wind-
And Rin Tsukiyama side-steps!
O’Connell: The Barrel Roll misses! A frustrated Cali Hayama took one too many risks and missed!
Starr: Cali Hayama even with her high-risk style, usually doesn’t make a mistake like that! Her frustration, realizing that she will need to do more to an opponent like Rin Tsukiyama to win, is adding to her frustration.
Crashing hard on the mat, Cali Hayama is slow to get up as Rin Tsukiyama, showing a grin, backs up. As soon as Cali Hayama is to her feet she nails a giant Double Knee-Facebreaker!
O’Connell: Tsukiyama Buster!
Rin goes for a cover on Cali Hayama after the big move and hooks both legs.

And now Cali Hayama kicks out of the near-fall!
Sitting up, Rin Tsukiyama takes a deep breath and tries not to get too frustrated. But, she looks at Cali Hayama… and gives a small nod. Picking Cali Hayama off the mat, now she tries once again for the Regal Plex as she gets a waist lock on Cali. Getting the MAYHEM member’s leg hooked, she can’t quite grasp her hands together, but she tries for the move anyways…
And Cali lands on her feet!
O’Connell: No Rin’s Cradle!
Stumbling into the ropes, Cali Hayama is still in a daze after the Tsukiyama Buster, but is able to land out of instinct. As Rin Tsukiyama gets up, Cali charges and ducks a clothesline from her. She jumps on the middle rope for a springboard…
AND RIN TSUKIYAMA FOLLOWS HER AND GRABS HER IN A WAIST LOCK! With strength, she pulls her off the ropes and hooks the leg, nailing Rin’s Cradle at last!
O’Connell: Rin’s Cradle!!!
Starr: It’s over!

Rin’s grip starts to slip…

NO!
Cali Hayama just manages to power out!
O’Connell: And Cali Hayama kicks out! Somehow she survives one of the aces in the hole from Rin Tsukiyama!
Starr: Too much damage on the arms, she couldn’t lock it in fully!
Shaking her arm then grabbing her neck, Rin Tsukiyama is sore and now she’s starting to get frustrated. This relative newcomer who has yet to have a singles title match until now is taking her to the limit.
Meanwhile Cali Hayama, after getting dropped on her head, is still in a bad way. The fans, appreciating what may be a breakout performance for the MAYHEM member, give a rounding applause. Slowly, the Wondergirl gets up and slowly picks up Cali, dropping her in place with a scoop slam.
O’Connell: With Cali Hayama’s position in the ring, it is time for the Cutest Moonsault Ever.
Getting to the corner, Rin Tsukiyama hops to the middle rope and then again to the top rope and leaps backwards with a Moonsault…
And Cali Hayama lifts both her knees, nailing the champion in the gut!
O’Connell: No! Cali blocks it!
Rin Tsukiyama is on her knees and Cali Hayama quickly rolls and nails her in the side of the head with a Listo Kick!
Starr: And Chaos Control!
The kick forces Rin to fall on the mat face first and Cali Hayama slowly gets to her feet by crawling up in the corner and stomps her foot a couple of times, letting her fans in the audience rally behind her.
O’Connell: The Cyber Driver ‘99 couldn’t do it. How about we go Vintage Cali with a Skull Cracker?
Starr: Genuinely one of the most simple yet devastating moves you can do.
Rin Tsukiyama struggles to her hands and knees and seems prime for the Double Foot Curb Stomp… but she collapses again and rolls to the apron.
O’Connell: And no, Rin can’t even get up enough to hit it.
Starr: It’s so weird that this is the best way possible to avoid the move, but smart on the champion.
Frustrated, Cali walks towards Rin Tsukiyama and waits for her opponent to get up. After Rin pulls herself up by the ropes, Cali Hayama nails her with a super kick! The champion stumbles… and jumps up and responds with one of her own! Now Cali stumbles back! The defending Intergalactic Cosmic Champion keeps herself up in the corner and charges…
And Cali Hayama catches her in a Fireman’s carry and drops her into a Pele Kick!
O’Connell: What a unique Pele Kick!?
Starr: This is it! This may be a major upset here!
Tired of Rin Tsukiyama’s fight, Cali decides to aim for the one thing certain to take her out for good. The Asian-Canadian Baddie gets onto the apron and climbs the top turnbuckle. A Super Skull Cracker from the top rope.
O’Connell: A Skull Cracker from the top? That will put an end to Rin Tsukiyama’s reign.
Starr: And make a new star in CJW.
As Rin gets to her knee, finally Cali Hayama jumps through the air…
And she is met with a catching Double Knee Facebeaker! Another Tsukiyama Buster!!
O’Connell: TSUKIYAMA BUSTAAAAH!
Starr: A half a second too late from Cali Hayama!
Cali collapses to the ground and Rin Tsukiyama crawls towards the corner. This is it. Showing the last ounces of her iron will, she springboards twice and leaps through the air with the Cutest Moonsault Ever!
O’Connell: CUTEST MOONSAULT EVERRR!!!
She hooks both legs with her good arm! Trying to get the win!

Ding ding ding!
Lying on the mat, Rin Tsukiyama has a big grin as her theme music starts to play. She did it, she retained her title. A couple of the trainee wrestlers get into the ring with ice packs for both competitors.
Starr: Rin Tsukiyama, proving once again why she’s an ace of the company!
O’Connell: But don’t discount Cali’s efforts.
Starr: For sure. She entered the biggest match of her career the underdog, and while she struggled early, one big move and she not just held her own against one of the best in the world, but nearly had her beat!
O’Connell: Amazing match from both of these ladies.
The referee is given Rin’s Intergalactic Cosmic Championship and a trophy, as per tradition with title matches, and slowly helps Rin to her feet. She raises her good arm in victory as the announcer proclaims her victory.
Ring Announcer: (Winner and still Intergalactic Cosmic Champion, Wondergirl, Tsukiyamaaaaa Riiiiiin!)
The official hands her the championship belt. Kissing her belt, the Wondergirl shows great joy in keeping it. She poses with the title and her trophy and she turns to see Cali Hayama crawling towards the ropes. Nodding towards her opponent, there is a bit of recognition in her young challenger’s efforts.
Making their way down the ramp, we see the other two thirds of the CJW Trios Champions, Ririko, and the masked Vampiress. Cali Hayama rolls out of the ring with a limp and keeps the ice on her neck and her tag partners help her out as she is given her Trios title.
O’Connell: And Cali Hayama, hasn’t even acknowledged Rin Tsukiyama.
Starr: We know Cali has a lot of pride. Probably just feeling rough after the close loss.
Rin Tsukiyama takes a prolonged look at Cali as she leaves with her friends before finally, she heads to the top rope and holds up her championship high with her good arm.
------------------------------------------------------
Shifting to backstage, we see an interview area with a purple backdrop and the company logo plastered on it along with various sponsors. We hear the echo of Rin Tsukiyama’s voice in the background as she cuts a promo to the fans. Finally, with help from her MAYHEM teammates, we see Cali Hayama enter the frame. Vampiress and Ririko help her into the chair and Cali, breathing heavily, looks at the cameras.
“Well, isn’t this great…” she says in English filled with sarcasm. She looks around at her friends and the media backstage and switches languages to address them.
“(Biggest match of my career so far, and I lost.)” she takes a deep breath. “(I knew it was going to be a challenge. Miss cat-girl is a lot tougher than she looks. Saori told me. I knew it. People can say ‘Good job,’ all they want and that it was tough, but I should have done better. I made mistakes. It cost me.)”
Someone from the side hands her a water bottle so she can take a sip before continuing.
“(Losing in a big match like this is awful. Next time, I need to do better.)” She taps her title belt on the table. “(I am a champion. I need to fight like one. Tsukiyama Rin knows how. That is why I lost.)”
Trying to give her tag team partner some support, both of them speak up, first with Ririko giving her a gentle hug. “(You did make us proud with your progress! You’ve grown so much, Cali, and you can hit that next gear.)”
Then Vampiress shows a wicked smirk and pats Cali on the back. “(And we are here to bring you there. The system doesn’t want people like us to succeed but we do it in spite of it, not because of it.)”
Cali nods and slowly gets up, wincing a bit after her rough match. “(And that is why I like you two. No sap story, just support, and focus on the next step.)” She slings her title on her shoulder. “(The greatest trio in this company’s history will continue our dominance in the meantime. We three are future singles champions as well. For now, I will see you all when I get back from America. Sayōnara.)”
The three hold up the MAYHEM “M” and walk away, trying to find a bit of motivation for what is to come after a close defeat.
A few moments later, we see Rin Tsukiyama make her way backstage. She has ice still on her shoulder and neck and she sits down, with an attendee putting her championship on a stand, someone hands her a bottle of water and she sips before speaking.
“(This championship reign with the Intergalactic Cosmic Championship, I wanted to be different. I am in my prime, but I know this sport moves forward. I want to be the bridge from present to future and help test the new crop of women here. Cali Hayama was one of them.)”
A few cameras flash before she continues. “(I am disappointed you are not with us in Cosmica. We still could have had this match, but I would also love the chance to team with you. But, seeing your friends come down after the match, who am I to say you made a bad decision? You have friends who value you and that is always good, and I know Saori Suzuki speaks with pride of you.But why I wanted you in Cosmica was because I saw some of me in you. A heart. You have heart, Miss Cali. Though, tonight, I saw more.)”
Holding both her hands up, Rin Tsukiyama explains. “(Saori Suzuki and myself have fought neck and neck for the past several years and we have been mostly even. I dislike her level of violence, but over the years, I have grown to understand she is not bad per-say, just has different methods. I can respect talent, even if I do not like the person. I believe between the two of us, the championships of Cosmic Joshi Wrestling will be raised even further. But tonight, I could tell she taught you well.)”
Putting her hands together, Wondergirl adds. “(I always imagined what would a wrestler be if us two were put together and you may be the closest thing to it, Cali Hayama. If you continue, you may be one of the next pillars of women’s wrestling in this company or anywhere. So continue to train. Continue to fight here and in America. Learn from this match and your opportunities. Then you will not worry.)”
Smiling at her championship, Rin Tsukiyama pats her title. “(As for me, I will continue to seek out challengers. I want to see the brightest rising stars and see if they are ready. You may come back again, but I will fight everyone else until you are ready.)”
She gives a peace sign before doing the Cosmica pose. “(Always wonder!)” then the scene fades away.
That decently could be Natsuko. I think we had discussion here a while ago, about where would Tora fit after she's cleared. It would be a bit weird to see Tora just randomly returning, and being like "thanks SLK for taking care of OT, I'll take it from here". So if masked wrestler is Tora, that would make sense for me (return with intrigue and buzz)
Also what a Intresting time in company we witnessing right now. Just couple days ago we witnessed first ever cage match (if they will do another one, they should invest a bit more money in cage since it looked pretty weak construction ), and in 3 weeks we about to see first ever casket match.
I liked Stardoms ladder and cage matches from last 12 months. And i totally agree with your point of not making them annual tradition like WWE did (just look at matches like extreme rules, HIAC, TLC etc it all good washed up)I need to watch the cage match still, but I imagine it is a bit of a test run for it. While I don't think stipulation matches should be used all the time, I don't mind them as a nice rare treat in Japan for when the story fits for one. Like two risk takers in a ladder match for a title, a cage match to prevent Units at war from getting involved or to prevent someone from running, or submissions only against two submission specialists etc. Then the Casket match/Grim Reaper stuff honestly is just a bunch of, as OSW would say "bollocks" and a bit of it peppered in makes things interesting.
