Pretty sure I mentioned it in this thread, or possibly the Box Office thread. Bond has always been about product placement and this time Heinekien bought a spot for around $40 million. It featured him drinking it in one scene, when he was at home rather than dressed up as Bond and then there were the ads that have been running on tv with Craig playing Bond in them. That is great money if you can get it and they would have been crazy to reject that money. He still had his vodka martini so it didn't replace his normal drink.

People just love to have something to complain about. Its an amazing movie, if not the best Bond movie ever its at least top 3 yet people are getting all upset because he has a sip of one Heineken. People will always find something to complain about.

Pretty sure its only in this and Casino Royale where they use product placement. Vodka and Martini doesn't count as they don't name a brand.

I haven't seen it yet, so I can't really say. But a lot of people are mad about it.

Anyone that has seen it wouldn't be mad at it. It didn't impact on the story and it didn't alter the Bond character at all. When he was in full on Bond mode it was still a martini that he ordered.

Pretty sure its only in this and Casino Royale where they use product placement. Vodka and Martini doesn't count as they don't name a brand.

The cars in Bond have always been product placement, that is why the brands have changed a couple of times over the decades as the money has been better. It has been more agressive as of late but there has always been some in there.

Aston Martin certainly benefitted from having the DB5 included all those years ago and ever since car makers have payed huge money to get their cars in Bond Movies. Anything Bond wear, drinks, drives or uses is automatically cool.

Exactly and the ads that they did for Heineken were really good and I am sure that they would have boosted sales. The ads would have been much more effective that the short segment in the movie.

I loved the cars that they used this time around, it was nice seeing that special one again. I am sure that collectors would kill to have a car like that.

One of the little touches that I loved in the film was when the bad guys were at his estate and they blew up his car. The look that Bond had after that, the "you killed my car I am now going to kill you" look, that they crossed the line by doing that was brilliant.

Skyfall crossed the $1 billion mark the other day. Incredible result considering the previous franchise high was $599 million by Casino Royale. That it has earnt 66% more than the previous most successful Bond film just shows how good this Bond is. It is also closing in on $300 million in the US which is nearly double the previous franchise best.

It hasn't even opened in China and with the Macau connection in the film and the expansion in the size of the Chinese market in recent years it could earn a lot more. Quantom of Solace earnt $21 million four years ago so Skyfall could easily gross $50 million in China this time around.
