Director: Sam Mendes

Starring: Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes

Music: Skyfall by Adele

Release Date: UK 26th October 2012, US 9th November 2012, Australia 22nd November 2012

This is the 23rd Bond film and it comes out very, very soon. The first reviews are in and they are all very positive, some are claiming that it is one of the best Bond films and that it is Craig's best Bond by far. It is meant to compare favourably to The Dark Knight and the Bourne series. As everyone knows I am a huge Bond fan and so I will be seeing this as soon as it is released in Australia. Slightly annoyed that Australia has to wait almost a month until it debuts here. I don't want to head in there with high expectations after the last film but so far it is sounding very promising.

Anyone else pumped for Skyfall?

I suspect it will be inbetween Cashino Royale and QOS in terms of quanity. I was really impressed with what they did with the first Criag Bond in terms of making him more human but also returning it back to the roots of the series, the action seqences were great, but it still had a well crafted plot and Criag was very good as Bond. By all accounts the follow up was a bit of a mess and lacked the edge of CR. Can't see it being as good as that but it should be solid.

Mendes is an interesting choice to direct as I respect him but this is the first time he has directed a geure film like this. Its a good a cast I look forward to seeing it.

So the film is released in the UK this friday and I will be seeing it that day. Has anyone seen it yet? Do you have high hopes?

I'm hoping it will actually feel like a Bond flick. I don't know, the last two just didn't feel right to me. Not a huge fan of Crag's Bond. I'll probably go to see this for Javier Bardem, as I have been a pretty big fan of his since No Country For Old Men.

I agree he should be a great villain, althrough I like Craig as Bond think he bridges the gap between Connery and Dalton.

I don't know, I miss the classic Bond stuff where he was cocky as shit, always being somewhat goofy and such.

Just think that has been done to death and they need to move in a different direction with the character.

But that's all people really know him for. I personally can't say much, I watched Casino Royal and that was the only Bond movie I've seen with Craig. Have yet to see Quantum of Solace, only seen maybe a couple scenes for that. Wasn't a huge fan of Casino, but Skyfall looks better. Plus with the music, it kind of feels like a classic Bond flick.

Don't agree the character from the novel is cold and has a dark past and certain films have shown that. Connery and Dalton both brought a more steely edge, while still being charming and funny in the role. You can have both.

I guess, I grew up with Brosnon. I guess I just miss that. I'll still give this film a chance.

Which is your favourite Bronsan Bond film? I love GoldenEye. Not a fan of his, but actually think he was a decent Bond and was let down at times by the scripts

Should see Skyfall either tomorrow or sunday and will post my thoughts then. Will be interested to see how it turns out with Mendes as director, like him, but this is a different kind of film than he has done before.

GoldenEye was probably my favourite. I always enjoyed the scripts for those Bond flicks though. He is probably my favourite Bond next to Connery.

You Only Live Twice is the classic Bond film. Absolutely fantastic, and really influential, even for comedies like The Simpsons and Austin Powers. Love it. Would probably say GoldenEye second and Casino Royale third. Really looking forward to Skyfall

I've seen every single Bond movie multiple times. I'm seeing this shit in the theater. I've been on a total gluten free dairy free kick... but I will be rocking some Reese's Pieces and a big ass soda for this one.
