RVD & Ricardo Rodriguez - WWE's New Odd Couple

Reading the RAW results today and I never would have guessed that Ricardo's next client would be RVD. When he confronted Del Rio and said that he represents someone new and someone that will stand for the people I assumed that it would be someone like Mysterio since Del Rio kept talking about the Latino community. Very odd pairing to put Ricardo with someone like RVD. It is a good stop gap feud for Del Rio going forward since RVD is hugely over as a face since his return and would be a good challenger to the WHC at NOC. Can't see this being a long term partnership as it is all about Ricardo getting revenge on Del Rio and once that happens they will part ways.

Did anyone actually predict that it would be RVD? Can you see this working? Will it last longer than NOC?

I figured it was gonna be Christian for whatever reason. Don't really think RVD needs his own ring announcer, but they had to do something with Ricardo now that he's split from Alberto. They'll build Van Dam up to be the next #1 contender for the title at Night of Champions too, but Del Rio should retain.

Pretty horrible really, RVD isn't going to be in a massive feud where he's going to have do a lot of talking so he would have been perfectly fine in handling his duties in a feud with Del Rio for the title. Obvious they did it just to get some retribution for Ricardo but I just don't see RVD taking the title.

Should have just put Ricardo as the manager of El Matadores.

I'm guessing this is only short term, and will probably end once Del Rio and RVD have a few matches together. Van Dam never needed a mouth piece, but I'm fine with him siding with Ricardo for the sake of this storyline.

This is the year of the Return of the Manager. We've got Zeb going with the Real Americans, We've got Heyman going with Brock and Axel. Now we've got Ricardo going, not just as an announcer/valet but as a real manager with RVD.

I think he keeps his client and adds to them. There's a spoiler I won't share about a new tag team coming that I could see him getting behind. WWE will always need mouthpieces and RR is a damn good one.

In a way I'm kind of glad they didn't do the stereotypical thing and just pair him up with a latin wrestler. This is a much more unique and creative situation here that helps Ricardo staying on T.V and with someone who will stay relevant and helps RVD since he now has a mouthpiece. It has my interest.

Really can't push a Cheech and Chong duo on a PG show, can't really do the Snoop Dogg "lucky charms" sketch with them. Would seem hypocritical on theri part seeing as Vince has a hardline stance against weed.

Ricardo better channel his inner screaming Pride lady and go hard on the Rob with a raspy Vaaaaaan DAAAAAAAAM!!!!

But wrestling history always reminds me that goodguy managers only represent jobbers....be wary RVD.....be wary.
