Nelson Mandela, the revered statesman who emerged from prison after 27 years to lead South Africa out of decades of apartheid, has died at the age of 95.

Only a few people change the world, Mandela was one of them. The fact that I didn't see a thread about this pisses me off tbh. He wasn't some random celebrity. He was a man who deserves regcognition, his perseverence, his unbreakable spirit and his nobility are unparallelled. His book Long Walk to Freedom was inspiring and a man who spent 27 years in prison and not come out with bitterness and outright hate in his heart is as close to saintly we will ever see.

RIP Madiba, ultimately free at last.

Honestly he isn't really all that talked about in America (South Africa in general isn't(Countries outside teh us period)). Had to actually look up why you were calling him Madiba. Most of what I know about him is because I look him up every now and then when he hits. the news.

But I agree it is a great loss.

Just an all around good human being. Nothing much else to say without just repeating what Deezy started with.

RIP

Most Americans probably only know him as Morgan Freeman to be honest.

When I first heard this had to check around cause people play too much on the internet and have "killed" this man like 3 times. Was hoping it was another hoax but sadly it wasn't. Very big loss of a very impactful man R.I.P.

The one real thing that is pissing me is that people are grieving, he wouldn't have wanted that, I'm sure of it. Also saw some teenage girls on their cell phones at what was supposed to be a memorial service. On the news they showed this memorial service all day, and I saw those for a majority of it. Some adults were on their phones also. Fact of the matter is, we lost a great human being who deserves a lot more than that.

May he finally find his peace and true freedom.
